Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video. I have to do this on my 4104.

My pleasure, and a 4104 is a really nice bus!

Just imagine having to pay a radiator shop labor rate for that process. Great job, thanks for the visual.

When we would these at the shop, we would pull the tanks steam clean it then rod it, wire brush the header and check the solder around the tubes. We also made gaskets out cork tape. Cool video.

That was very relaxing to watch, and as always, you make it look simple and easy. That would be due to how you approach things, whether detailing, maintenance or repairing as in this case. Disappointed you are not dressed to the hilt as you normally are - LOL. Look forward to future videos.

I’m actually more comfortable in a shirt and tie, but it’s inappropriate attire for getting dirty.

Nice video. Appreciate the slow, deliberate approach. Did you pressure/leak test the radiator after you assembled it?
@LacroixCruiser
@LacroixCruiser 4 года назад
Yes we did a leak down test with compressed air. It held 10 psi for 12 hours.

Easy to do but labor intensive. The gal using the power tool to clean the mating surfaces should be wearing a dust mask. If not available, take a clean lightly damp cloth and wrap around face.

Thanks for the Video, after you did this did you notice lower engine temps?
@LacroixCruiser

This was preventative maintenance, also we did this while rebuilding the engine.

Does coolant go through the small fins that you straightened out?

And then pour MDR in the cooling system to dissolve any other minerals that might be built up in the cooling system 😃

Where do these exist? I have never seen a serviceable rad till this one.
@LacroixCruiser
@LacroixCruiser 3 года назад
This is on a 1973 GMC bus. Many trucks and busses of that era had serviceable rads.

@@LacroixCruiser cool thanks, after asking i was thinking about it. Farm equipment or large static engines was my best guess. Im not however surprised that its out of something old, and at the risk of sounding old from when things were built for the long run. 👍thanks again

@@LacroixCruiser Technically, all of the oldies were "servicable" most just had to be desoldered first. :) Great video, I'm using it as a reference for some of my Triumph buddies who may need to do this to theirs.

Thanks, de soldering isn’t exactly DIY friendly, but yes it’s how it was done.

@@LacroixCruiser Nope. You're lucky having those bolted on tanks. For the rest of us, it is what it is. :)

Yes, but not as quickly as it does the calcium buildup.
