It makes me happy to see this album finally get some love. It’s a nearly perfect album. It’s my number 3. I’d put it behind Ok Computer and In Rainbows.
Identikit I think is about people who shut themselves off from the world. They remain in a state of tranquil, pure innocence while letting broken hearts rain around them.
I'd recommend listening to the live version of true love waits as well, it feels like it represents him and his relationship at an earlier, maybe more hopeful period of time. Great vid as always!
Sometimes I kinda feel like this is overall a better album than OK Computer, not a dud in here unlike OK Computer which has Electioneering, which sucks.

Another great album and reaction! Suggestions: Oneohtrix Point Never - R Plus Seven Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Lil Ugly Mane - Volcanic Bird Enemy And the Voiced Concern Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral David Bowie - Blackstar
Let’s go! Looking forward to catching this review. Some other albums for your consideration: Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam Animal Collective - Centipede Hz. Animal Collective - Time Skiffs Fiddlehead - Death is Nothing to Us 🍻
Right when you said "did I just get Mt Eeried?", I knew you must've listened to A Crow Looked at Me, lol. And, given the similar back stories, yeah you kinda did.
i’ve been a radiohead fan for a while and always kinda overlooked this album until i went through a heart wrenching breakup a few weeks ago and i gave this album another listen last week and i’ve really connected with this album since. the tracks that i connect with the most are daydreaming, glass eyes, identikit, ful stop, present tense and of course true love waits. sometimes in order to connect and understand a piece of art to its fullest extent you need a certain mindset and/or go through certain experiences.
Gotta love Radiohead. Would be really interesting to see a reaction to some latin american music. I have some really good recommendations, ESPECIALLY "Clics Modernos" by Charly García (1983), which has a mixture of New Wave, Rock and Argentine Tango. This guy's music had so much influence on argentine musicians in the 80's and 90's. I don't know if you listened to Prince, but his very well known album Purple Rain (1984) has a lot of elements and influences from "Clics Modernos". Charly once said that Prince copied him, jokingly 😄This album was recorded in New York and produced by him and Joe Blaney, who is known for working with Prince, The Ramones and The Clash. Charly Garcia is known as the greatest composer and musician ever from Argentina. This album is a 10/10 for me and is also recognised as the 2nd best Argentine rock album of all time.
You're reactions are one of the best bits of my day so thank you! Also, I'd like to recommend "I didn't mean to haunt you" by Quadeca. He's a youtuber turned musician and he made some alright rap music but then made a beautiful folktronica album last year
i heard that the last part of Daydreamer are vocals of Thom Yorke saying "half of my life" because he was with his partner for 23 years and he was 46 at the time he wrote the song
Hey, love your videos, very glad I stumbled upon your channel! I'm curious to hear your thoughts on an artist I've been listening to a lot lately, Tori Amos. I'd recommend listening to Little Earthquakes, or Boys For Pele if you want something a little weirder/more experimental. Happy listening!
I'd definitely recommend you listening to Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life. It is a double album and an ep so is 1hr and 45 mins long so is quite a long listen but it is worth it for sure. It is my favourite double album of all time.
Can you listen to Magnolia Electric Co. by Songs: Ohia? It's my favorite alt-country record with themes about death, addiction, and Jason Molina's lyricism is very unique to him, I think. It will be up your alley.
Ik its an old reaction but on Ful Stop when hes saying "You really messed up everything" over and over again its him speaking to himself now that his signifigant other is gone, and he feels its his fault.
In my opinion this is Radiohead's best. Certainly the one that hits me the hardest, emotionally. I can't help but tear up at various moments of the album, I can't relate to Thom losing a partner but I think of the death of my mom a few years ago and all those feelings of loss overwhelm me, and this album brings those about in the most haunting yet beautiful way.
AMSP is top tier Radiohead, love it so much. You should definitely react to all the Radiohead albums you haven’t heard yet. Maybe not Pablo Honey. Radiohead fans love RU-vid reactions to them hahah.
The history behind True Love Waits is 20 years in the making… first played as a barebones guitar and keyboard arpeggio track live in 1995 and was attempted multiple times in the studio across a lot of their album sessions but Thom wasn’t satisfied with any arrangement until we finally arrived to the all-piano rendition on AMSP. Many have commented that the original track sounds more hopeful and optimistic whereas this one has literally been scientifically rated the gloomiest Radiohead track ever. Middle 8 has a great video discussing the history of the album and the songs on it, you def should watch for the bigger picture. Great reaction!!
This album is really something... It's not my favourite from them but the mood it creates is truly one of a kind. Glad you gave it a listen. Would love to see your reaction to Amnesiac. It's sort of a companion album to Kid A but is more experimental, if I can say so? It certainly feels less cohesive compared to Kid A which might make it more interesting. It also contains their best song and perhaps even one of the best songs of all time (Pyramid Song)
This is definitely up there with one of my faves! Some recs for the future: Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People Zero 7 - Simple Things LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
If you continue with RH I'd def recommend The Bends for more of a traditional alt rock experience, (but still fire asf and unique) and The King of Limbs for more of an experimental melancholic rhythmic type of album. Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief are def deeper cuts for if you love their other albums. Much love keep up the great videos bro !
This is my second favorite radiohead album and one of the only albums to make me cry. The other being A Crow Looked at Me so yea pretty high bar LOL. some of the most beautiful and emotional music to be laid into music. True Love Waits is top 2 radiohead btw :D I would suggest going into a little bit of a history of Radiohead and doing their discog in order! Honestly their evolution is insane. Each release sounds like a new world and a tease for what’s coming next… besides Pablo Honey but we don’t talk abt Pablo Honey it’s the definition of a nothing burger If you’re interested in Radiohead’s discog I’d suggest the radiohead iceberg someone posted a while back! also a recommendation(s) for an album -The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips -The Money Store by Death Grips -Filthy Tongues by Dalek
Btw fun fact, the ending of daydream are reversed vocals that say “half of my life” representing how thom has spent half of his life dedicated to radiohead, his wife, as a celebrity, and as someone who has put himself through so much and put his struggles and paranoia out into the world. amsp and kid a have so many hidden meanings and it’s interesting to look into them cuz radiohead lyrics can mean so much or nothing at all
The last song True Love Waits was actually written all the way back in the early 90s during the Pablo Honey era and I feel it was included to kinda be like "yep we're finally releasing this!" but also to reflect on how he used to feel about his ex-wife and how much she meant to him almost as if he's saying goodbye to her and that he'll try to remember all the good times even if he's no longer feeling the same way about her anymore
One of my favorite Radiohead albums!! Here's a few awesome albums Geese - 3D Country Parannoul - After the Magic Squid - Bright Green Field King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Polygondwanaland (and maybe Im In Your Mind Fuzz) Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights EDIT: oh right and Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
Love the videos! A few recommendations: Nurture - Porter Robinson (light summer electric with fun production) Koi No Yokan - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop)
true love waits for réal might be the top ten best things ever written to music. To say something like true love is horrific, terrifying and that it’s almost too perfect at the same time. just wow
You NEED to have more slacker rock in your life: bee thousand by guided by voices, exile in guyville by Liz phair, your living all over me by dinosaur (jr).
I don't think you have the right mind set to understand radiohead It's supposed to not make sense sometimes to reflect the complexity of this world and just humanity in general
you really gotta do frailty man i already wrote a paragrah under a different video on why so ill spare u the headache but it's definitely worth your time
