That was me!! I was on the railing and as soon as the first notes started I just lost it and then he looked down and made that face at me and it was such a heart warming moment, I was beaming and my friends were bugging out. Still my favorite concert experience of all time, that entire set and night was magical.
Even though I've been a Radiohead fan for years, I've only got the chance to see them once in Oslo, Norway. It was a blast. I'm sooo happy I were at the "right" show, 'cause they only played this song at one of their two shows here... My absolute favourite. A really special moment I'll take with me to my grave.
for some people listen that song is the best shit ever in his life... after watched Let Down and Exit Music in person, i was completely full, if i'd would been died the next morning, it would be smilling
Agree! I dunno if it's because I currently have covid and my head is stuffed up but I literally cannot hear those harmonies when I listen to the album at the moment, especially the high notes, it's like they have been deleted from the song. But I can hear them on this!
Wow. 2 days later and I can hear it loud and clear on the album again. Clear as rain! Just listened to it again on my phone. 2 days ago, I literally could not hear it at all. Today I can hear it perfectly. Guess it was covid. Sense of smell came back, too.
In the last scene of the last episode of "The Bear," they used "Let Down". What a great song for a great ending of Season 1--I knew it right away and was so happy to hear it.
@@zlstpedestrian1565 for me is happy because talk about the force of "mind" to find something to belive when fell hopeless, when the song say hiaterical and usless reaction, for me have a meaning like i know is usless histericall but is strong very strong maybe enough to help yourself for me is this dong have so much hope
Indeed. I played it on repeat when I was going through my divorce almost 20 years ago. I still cry and yet like you said it saved me and gave the strength to carry on. I grew those wings!
Ed smiling while Thom sings the "You'll know where you are" part is priceless. He's probably thinking "yep, I'm playing with a master musician still" when he smiles.
I think he's smiling because he forget his backing vocal part which is "I am gonna grow wings, a chemical reaction..." when Thom sings "one day...you know where you are..." Might be wrong IMO
I've been lucky to see Radiohead 4 times. Radiohead is my favorite band. Let Down is my favorite song by my favorite band. They don't often play this song, it is very difficult to play. The last time I saw them I finally got to see them play my favorite song. It is very special when you get to see your favorite band play your favorite song. I will never forget it.
Hey Josh, I'm in the same boat as you, I've seen them 5 times in the Boston area and have been a fan since 94' my wife appreciates them but she's more of an 80's hair band type. So a couple years ago I took her to see them and they pulled out Let Down! I was loving it, and after the show she couldn't believe how great of a show it was. We've seen some concerts together. Rusted Root, Bruce Hornsby, Andrew Bird (6 times) but this was a totally different experience for her.
I have listened to Rusted Root in years. I bet it's been the 20 years. I absolutely loved that band in the mid 90s. I got to see them live. If I remember correctly they opened for Santana. I might have to see if I still dig their music. Thinking about it now, and I don't think I will like it near as much. But thanks for mentioning them. And hopefully 1 day I'm able to see Radiohead live. One of a few bands I have to see before I die. ✌️
Thank you @@radiodead745 for giving me Andrew Bird. I like all the other artists you mentioned and have seen Radiohead and Bruce Hornsby, but never heard of Bird. 😁 Wow! *Thank you.* P.S. I feel like I should give you something beautiful in return... you'll be familiar with it, but it's just a reminder that they'll be back and you'll see them again. 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MSVLzuMEYps.html
Not my favorite song, but definitely one their best for live performances. Any song that can build up like this and uses more acoustic instrumentation than digital will almost guaranteed be a crowd pleaser.
This song is really something else. I've been hearing it weekly for the past 15 years. I haven't grown out of it. I don't think I'll ever get tired of listening Let Down. It hits you in the middle of the heart, such a bittersweet feeling. It may well be my favourite Radiohead song and I feel I'm a cheater by saying this
Transport, motorways and tramlines Starting and then stopping Taking off and landing The emptiest of feelings Disappointed people, clinging on to bottles When it comes it's so, so, disappointing Let down and hanging around Crushed like a bug in the ground Let down and hanging around Shell smashed, juices flowing Wings twitch, legs are going Don't get sentimental, it always ends up drivel One day, I am gonna grow wings A chemical reaction Hysterical and useless Hysterical and Let down and hanging around Crushed like a bug in the ground Let down and hanging around Let down Let down Let down You know, you know where you are with You know where you are with Floor collapsing, falling Bouncing back and one day, I am gonna grow wings A chemical reaction (you know where you are) Hysterical and useless (you know where you are) Hysterical and (you know where you are) Let down and hanging around Crushed like a bug in the ground Let down and hanging around
When I was 19 and in the Army I was stationed in South Korea. I bought this new on cassette over there at a Tower Records in Seoul. This cut always takes me back to 1997, riding the Seoul subway underground, in a strange land. What a time.
When the guitar came in so clearly on its own at 4:00, I gasped. On the studio version it’s there too, but it stands out so clearly here that I imagined it as the person who’s been crushed, and suddenly they start to move, finding the slightest of wills to go on, as they know they are finally going to grow wings and fly away from the horror they’ve experienced.
God that was cute the way Thom looked at the audience as the song started playing and shared the excitement the audience had. Sad though, like he plays the songs like they're old memories, like he's sharing something dear with his kids. I don't see him playing much longer.
+Mike Greg Lol. Thom Yorke retiring from music. As if. It's all he ever does, he's obsessed with it. Even if Radiohead were to ever split he'd just do solo stuff for the rest of his life.
I don't think they play their songs like old memories at all... Havin seem them in the last few months they play with passion, especially the Tkol and AMSP stuff. No sign of stopping really.
Most prestine, ethereal, beautiful, and creative band you can find.. Like ever. You can listen their songs infenitely and never get bored, they are that good. I have 2 years listening to them. And im not planning to listen something else at least as consistently as Radiohead in the future. They are just in a whole another level in my eyes.
I literally had tears when The band played this song at the Greek theatre in 2017. I turned to my wife (than gf) and I told her I’m gonna cry the entire time this song is playing and she understood and smiled at me and told me to “Let down and let go” best concert I ever been too
That is radiohead's and Thom Yorke's best performance ever of that song. Their impact on alternative and rock fusion is so underrated but they are an amazing band that always capture their fans hearts. Love them
Outstanding song. The writing, the composition. The beat sits oddly on your eardrum but drives this song to an explosion of an ending. This is Radiohead at its best
this song sounds like the end of life like the last song i'd like to hear right as i pass at the last chord on the hospital bed that kind of feeling a little sedated
This may be the best thing I have ever seen. The look on the guys faces when the crowd goes wild as the take out a old classic. Everything is perfect in this show.
I was listening to nothing but Radiohead for weeks before this concert. This is my all time favourite song. I missed the concert due to a flight delay. Incredibly upsetting.
Two days ago I went to the Gulf of Finland and turned random Radiohead's songs on. When I heard Let Down, it was something like recognition, it sounds in my inner world, and I can't help doing a cover, it just goes through me, like a wish to express myself to the world, like "immerse your soul in love". It's not easy, but it's a great song. And this live version is very professional and emotional as well. Thanks to Radiohead!!!
This piece is truly fantastic though. Makes me feel like traveling to a different universe... There are no words that could explain all the things i feel while listening to this song. Let Down is certainly my favourite song of all that Radiohead made, one of (if not) the best songs I've ever listened to. Unforgettable experience. I think I wish this plays when i die.
