Radiolink says their FHSS/DSSS protocol has 4096 (12 bit) .25usec stepping. Let's test that, and take a first look at the radio. Thanks to PCBWay for sponsoring this video.

Thanks for the overview. As a Spektrum and Open/EdgeTx user, I was always interested in this because they were kinda their own thing. It would have been so easy for them to use OpenTx and an existing protocol. Nice to see a hands-on and some of the other programming screens!

Ive had this radio for about 4 years now and its great, the 6ch rec works great for gliders and sail planes and the 12ch is easy to use with crossfire and FPV. good radio if you want something you can tinker with and dont want to trade price for features, you can turn the beeps off and a 1s 1200mah lipo with an adjustment to the battery alarm on the radio will last you all day.

This was my first radio after the 80ies and I still use it with the Saber 920 and the AR Wing. Three kilometers range is enough for short flying. It is a special one and if you can fly with junk than you can fly with anything 😂 I am using the R12DSM receiver. I also shorten the sticks for better handling. My 5inch drone had this receiver too. Now I am using elrs. For better planes I rather go with Spektrum. The range is shorter, but enough for LOS. Apart from that, the delay (latency)is much smaller than with Spektrum. It is some kind of an experimental radio and a weird science, but I like to try out the stuff they offer.

@@RCVideoReviews Yes, it's a kind of Futaba. I like the R12DSM receiver, but unfortunately I couldn't bind it with the 4in1 Jumper T Pro, so I switched to elrs. Maybe you can help me with the right protocol or it's impossible. By the way, the Jumper has crappy gimbals too, but I like the shape of the transmitter. Better gimbals and switches would have been a good thing for radiolink too.

Hi, sir. Thank you for your feedback. If you want to test the precision of 4096 of R12DS, we recommend you to test with servo of 4096, and there will be no noise or jitter.

If you watch the video, you'll see I used a PWM decoder and software to evaluate the PWM signal coming out of the RX. Servos aren't necessary in that test. It was a direct evaluation of the PWM output on the RX.

You know what's interesting is they're surface radios are pretty good. Have rssi and vbat just plugs into the Rx. We used them at school because the have a tracked vehicle mixer and 6 channels. My teacher at the time had good relationship with an engineer at radiolink (Jenny) who got crossfire working on their surface transmitter and a head tracker function as well the only other surface trans we could find to do crossfire was futaba for 600 each as opposed to 60. I think that the old jumper t16 and then radiomaster kinda killed radiolinks air transmitter business as they seem to focus on the surface side now. That's my 2 cents

Interesting back story. Thanks for sharing. The comments have come out decidedly against this TX. It seems to me they made an honest attempt, but it "barely" qualifies as what I'd call hobby grade--and I didn't even get past the bench for testing.

I didn't take it out if its box in a while, but this looks A LOT like a Futaba 10C to me - both on the outside and in the firmware :) I was really hoping it uses OpenTX/EdgeTX... Would have made the radio so much more interesting. Well, if one was ready to accept the crappy gimbals :)

This was my first radio about 8 years ago. I had the grey one which they don't seem to make anymore. It works but not long after I purchased it I realized it was junk.. Actually it was the AT10 I purchased it had DSSS. The AT10II came out after and added FHSS but that is the only change everything else has not changed for years. For the price of this radio today I would suggest that not even a beginner purchase it. There are much better options. Hook it up to a flight sim and you will see how non standard this thing is with it's funky channel mapping..

@@RCVideoReviews Well, the first thing is it needed a proprietary cable that plugged into the back only available from Radiolink and when I hooked it up using the sim the channel maps were like 1,8,6,2 like random numbers. After playing around with it for a while I actually got it to work properly. I then realized just how bad the resolution was on the gimbals. I flew one quadcopter with it for a while that I learned to build by watching many Painless360 videos. It was wasted money and soon after purchased a FRSKY QX7 radio when they first came out. When FrSky pulled their shenanigans with their radios I switched to Radiomaster and have been using TX16's ever since.

The gimbals or something else in that radio definitely generates some noise. FWIW May TX16s has some weird channels in the MS joystick window when I set it up for Companion. I think the elevator comes in on Ch6 or something like that. I don't blame the radio for that. I blame MS. Anyway--this one's not for me either. It's going back today.

This was my first radio and i did not know that much about transmiter radios. Anyway, i also want to update i conect it to my computer and that was it i got it brick . So far i got 3 radios brick i mean 4 this one u doing the video , a jumper t16 and the radio master t16 and the 4 one well im pretty sure that when i try to update the radio im going to brick it too lol lol but thanks to ur videos now i can unbrick the radio .😂😂😂😢😢😢😢😊

I was looking into this radio . But I think I’ll go with the futaba T12X . I had the radio master x16 it was a bit much to program my helicopter . I sent it back .

Maybe I'm lucky but I've not had a problem with this radio. Sure, it's cheap and I agree about the gimbal quality and controls but it does the job and range is good enough, much further than LOS. As for the battery installation I simply made up a short extension lead to use with my 2500 mah 3s battery because it's a fiddle to access the connector. I've had this for about eight years. Sure, my Graupner and TX16s radios are far better but I've never had any interference problems with the Radiolink and the telemetry is useful. Nice tech review covering the stepping but if it works, it works!

Sad to say, I agree with you. I use this radio with all my ETF jets. I’d rather prefer this over spectrum I have the NX six channel. Have not lost signal at all with this. It’s easy to set up rates and reverse channels. My opinion, it has very good range is excellent I agree.

It is a piece of trash in my experience. It has crashed everything I have ever tried to fly with it, and I'm not a novice pilot.

@@RCVideoReviews I'm pretty sure it was such a noisy RF signal that once a plane got about 100 feet away, the controls lost all semblance of control. Inputs still had an effect on flight, but the outputs were not anything similar to the inputs, and the latency went up to like 500ms very quickly.

Their literature claims 3ms latency. The antennas look right. I wish I had better test gear for RF. I’d like to understand this a little better. But….I also have other things to keep me busy.

Cheap radio so thats why its not as good as some
