What is going on guys? Today I'm finally installing the Radium PCV catch can and baffle plate on Gengar my Focus ST! This is something I should have done when I first got this car. I already did this (actually it was the dual catch can kit) and the video was quite good. I can't emphasize how much "PATIENCE" is your friend with this. I printed the instructions, read them, and kept them handy at all times. Do not skip applying lubricant to the oil rings, and applying the Loctite to the screws of the impingement plates for the baffle plate. Adding to this good video, the ST engine uses Direct Injection (DI). The oil that cycles back into the intake, will eventually cause build-up on the intake valves. Because of the obvious design, DI will not keep the valves clean. The only way to clean the gunk out of the valves is to pull the cylinder head once the damage is done. This is a "problem" with DI engines regardless of the car manufacturer. The said gunk/build-up will make the engine run rough and, of course, rob power and efficiency. Eventually, if you add a Aux. Fuel System ($$$), this will keep the valves clean. (Sorry for the long post...)

As you mentioned, the main purpose is to burn the blow-by gases and oil evaporation gases to reduce emissions... and your video is by far the best I have watche for this kind of project. Keep it up!

I'm planning on adding a baffle plate and radium catch can right after I walnut blast the intake ports to clean all the carbon buildup.

Video is spot on. Seen a few others where they mixed up AN hose fitting locations: top of Catch Can-Filter goes to PCV cover/ side of CC-F goes to throttle body as per Radium instructions. For the windshield reservoir cover: use a mentos gum cover. Cut the tab retainer clip for OEM cover on the side for clearance (as flush as possible) and then slide bottom half of mentos cover over reservoir. Fits like OEM cover, no need to purchase new assembly. There are many colors to suit your mod needs (incl. purple). Cheers Brian L.

I like how he says 'ol' (oil)...the way i say it. My wife makes fun of me all the time XD I have the Radium baffle PCV plate, Damond Stage 1 OOC with a Damon VTA kit and a JLT rear OCC. These engines definitely do better with good ventilation, especially if you're big turbo. As stated, Radium makes high quality parts, it is a shame its hidden behind the intake manifold!

@@ABrianLewisVlog I did this a few years ago and my PCV hoses just backed off of stems leading to the intake and baffle plate. They got very stiff and are almost cracking

@@nealynolen I recently had my hosing on my moutune recirc valve blow off recently and was driving like that for a while as. Are you from California or a different state usually cracking pipes is due to hot and cold environments and running the engine hot so I have 68,000 miles and am 2nd owner and purchased it at 33,400 miles it was stock when I bought it. I think your pipes cracked due to improper tune and too much heat from engine

Gatta love it I just blow my pcv gasket 😂 and literally ordered the same parts yesterday couldn’t find out what was wrong with my car for a month I think I ordered the same catch can but the duel version if I’m not wrong I have a bomba racing one right now and it just doesn’t look good so I decided to upgrade also planing to upgrade the intake manifold with a mountune alloy one and Throttlebody with the bbk 62

Sounds like a good time! Getting all the goodies! I thought long and hard about the dual kit, but from research people were saying you could do without it and it was a lot more money. So I just went with the PCV one. Good luck and hope it all goes smooth!

@@ABrianLewisVlog Thank you and it is pricey but idk what caused me to blow the pvc gasket and I want to make sure It doesn’t happen again because I drive to Utah, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon a lot and I don’t want to brake down on the road because it’s not going to be cheep to tow my car 600 miles 😅

I made it all the way but still am confused on where the other side of the hose connects.. so you have one line running from the pcv baffle plate to the oil catch can, where does the other go to?

Mine is the 20-0315 radium catch can, it is not the “FL” version, it still has the black and aluminum cap, I got it from edge auto sport a couple months ago, what is the difference between my catch can and your “20-0315 FL” version?

You can do just the catch can you do not need to do the baffle plate for the catch can to work. I just wanted to do both.

The PCV plate upgrade is mostly to benefit anyone running a bigger turbo, as you push a lot more boost higher during WOT...stock turbos would benefit, but not really necessary. OCC's however do provide some great preventative measures to keeping the engine healthy, even on stock turbo. An intake manifold (front) one, and an intake pipe (rear, to turbo) both will help. Using a vent-to-atmosphere option furthers the aid in ventilation, but again is slight over kill on a stock turbo.
