I sincerely believe that Nadal wanted to be the first tennis player to achieve at least 2 slams in AO RG WIN and USA, (double Career grand slam) and show the world that he could be the best on any surface, he had 4 Australian finals to achieve it! Unfortunately, Djokovic beat him to it. In the end, 13 years later, he achieved it, a feat of effort and dedication.

Well, it is obvious, by these highlights, that Nadal had that "something special" about him. His composure was mature and obvious. Not everyone can be a champion but Nadal is one of those who is. Nadal Is My Champion!

Pretty sure I remember Srichaphan who was no mug on grass calling Nadal would win 10 plus majors aswell as winning RG and W in a single season. At the time many people believed that winning a major on clay and grass was near impossible!

Hay que añadir 2 factores a la dificultad, primero que la hierba nunca fue la superficie preferida de Nadal y segundo que Srichaphan, justo un mes antes había alcanzado su mejor Ranking ATP, siendo 9°.

Yes, but Jannik Sinner didn't start seriously focusing on tennis till he was 13!! Before that he was mainly skiing, and football. Unlike Nadal who was focused on tennis since he was a baby, winning his first National under 12 title at 8 yrs old! So, Nadal had a HUGE head start on Sinner!! Jannik's rise started slowly, because he was very inexperienced with hardly any junior play or success, but his rise after a slow start is meteoric. Watch this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sOSeVfBhIpU.html Like you I had never heard of this kid, but he is definitely one to watch in the future!!

You have compared different eras of sport. There were a lot of changes: development of player's team, medicine, court pace that become slower, equipment, attitude to profession. Nowadays nextgen players has no enough resources to get the best analytics, has no enough experience to prevail exceptional tactics of stars especially on slow courts, medicine helps stars to slow down decay of their own physics. And yes Big3 started this era by reforging approach to tennis and as monopolists take all fruits from this tree. Nextgen should make new revolution to become close to these results. Our nextgens are evolutional development.
@mikthe2004

@@konstantinpluzhnikov4862 The big 3 are freaks. No other era of tennis had 3 such players at one time. And I'm not sure who the Next Gen is anymore? Theim has already dropped off the pace. I think Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev and a few others have a shot, but can anyone dominate?

djokovic will probably end up with the most slams and federer will be the most loved worldwide but nadal is easily the most improved of his career of the big three. fed and novak essentially played the same games their whole careers they just got mentally tougher and fitter etc but nadals whole game changed, he was always making adjustments because he wanted to be an all time great not just a clay court great. he used to just spin his serve in to start the point and grind but today it’s a big strength of his and he gets many aces and free points off of it. he also used to almost exclusively hit forehands, especially on clay, because he had more time and foot speed to run around the backhand, but now his backhand is another big strength that he can rip cross court and down the line as well as anyone. he’s also developed a great slice over the years to allow himself more time to recover as he lost some of his speed, and is also much more willing to come forward to end points quickly and is surprisingly good at the net. all of the big three are once in a lifetime athletes but i’ve just always been really impressed by nadals commitment to work hard to improve and not let his game stay stagnant so that he could continue to compete with his peers and the next generation despite all of his injuries and setbacks.
