Australia has alot of these. In my opinion it has had some of the greatest semi finals out of all the opens. I could be biased due to being an Australian. Watching Grigor have a great start to 2024 brings me back to this match. This was one of his greatest performances ever! Im so happy to see him playing well. God i hope it gets a slam! Maybe Wimbledon or US open? There is a part of me that says Fed watched this match and took note from it. Fine tuned it a little more and used it to beat Nadal. Feds backhand in 17 was outer wordly and i think watching Grigor take the ball so early and be aggressive with it gave nadal so much trouble here. Credit to Nadal though. Fed and Grigor both playing out of their minds. Basically had to play the same player twice and still managed to take both matches to 5 sets! Just a beast!

I was lucky to watch this match live in the Rod Laver Arena back in 2017. Felt like I had just witnessed one of the best matches in a long time. After the match, me and my brother were saying that it's going to me an easy final for Nadal, because Fed was not going to hold up much with his backhand like Dimitrov did. It was a soft guess. Roger shattered everyone's expectations which is also why it was more pleasing for all Fed fans. Not only a better match than this, but one of the best matches in the history of the sport played with so much drama. Good memories...

I remember thinking that this might be for Dimitrov what the 2012 AO was for Murray. In that tournament Murray reached the semi and was close to beating Djokovic in a match that lasted almost 5 hours. For me that was the moment Andy proved that he can keep up with the big 3 and later in the year he finally won his first Slam. Sadly the outcome for Dimitrov has been completely different.
