I must have watched this about 40,000 times as a young man. As an older man, when I hear the theme song I become ready to bear witness to great violence and glory.
The karate scene was so 80's that it literally didn't register that you were playing Bloodsport music over it until AFTER the fact. It literally fits the scene THAT WELL.
Straight outta copyright hell, Razörfist comes riding. The spirit of vengeance, the oracle of Arizona in all of his finger flipping chair spinning prowess.
Bruh I literally just watched this movie thirty minutes ago and was thinking, "I'd love to see Razorfist do a review of it." Shit like that proves there is a God and he loves giant robots.
I mentioned this movie to a friend in programming class one time back in college and the professor must've overheard me, as he made 'RobotJox' the login password for our next test. He was a cool professor. He sat four seats away from me at an Iron Maiden show a few months later.
Never understood how climbing monkey bars would make one a better mech jock. Figured they'd want them to be spending more time in simulators than on the playground.
Eh, grease the monkey bars so they get practice getting back off the ground when they fall. Bonus points if they get a concussion on the way down. It'll simulate getting knocked on your can in a 10 story tall robot, honest.
@@timberwolf1575 my favorite part is the clone bitch who set up death traps and emotionaly crippled her tubbies tries to play the "HE'S KILLING HER" card bitch your final exam for mechwarriorship was a death jungle gym with randomly heating up bars and 50 foot falls fuck you
For future reference "jocks" are "jockeys" - People who ride things, or more generally sit on top of them and control them. So a Robot Jockey is alright by me. Jox is a step too far.
It was kinda awkward, but there was something brilliant by the fight backsliding to them brawling like cavemen with the wreckage of the advanced machinery... then going even more atavistic with a rock.
I will never forget watching this movie when I was a kid and wanting to build my own robot so I took apart my dads leaf blower. Which I got in major trouble for. LoL Now you can buy battle robot kits. I will forever cherish my VHS copy of this movie!
I still run the Robot Jox soundtrack in the background when playing tabletop Battletech or Megamek. Play the 'Overture' during setup or movement, and 'Achilles vs Alexander' for firing phases, and feel your game get 175% more epic instantaneously.
@@OpenMawProductions That was an epic movie. Nearly the entire supporting cast went on to have successful careers in TV Sci-Fi, while the lead actor went nowhere.
@bodd boward I take that back, I just looked it up and it was the Joe Halderman I was thinking of. The author of _Forever War_ so to reiterate, I can't believe he wrote the screenplay to this craptacular movie.
Apparently there was a ton of issues with joes screenplay getting butchered, he penned an epic and band/Gordon tore it apart and gave it much more camp.
With all your love of mechs, flamethrowers, guns, 80's over the top action and taking a beloved IP in a highly appreciated new direction, I can see why you're such a fan of Aliens.
No it wouldn’t have. What would’ve saved it would have been a better written script and good actors who could actually act. You’d be amazed what you can get away with if you have good dialogue and a consistent continuity. Still funny as hell though.
If I remember correctly, the writer and director had 2 different ideas of what this movie was. Namely one was making a film for children that adults could enjoy while the other was making a film for adults that children could enjoy. And in the end we got this loveable gem. Not the best thing but a memorable one.
“But before zombie Regan could emerge from the earth and drop a Macho Man elbow from the top of the stands” That is the greatest fucking thing I’ve heard in my fucking my life! Someone draw or animate this! Never die, Razor! Please, never die!
Yeah, me too. Tubi is awesome if you don't mind commercials, and it's got all kinds of kids content, my daughters love it more than any of the streaming service I pay for.
I saw this with my PawPaw (god bless) on vhs in Emerson Arkansas back in 1991. The same Paw who had all 4 (all at the time) death wish films on vhs. Godspeed to the fist... I'm going to go cry now.
@@lancer737 A single overdub mashing together three disparate series is an interesting concept, but not superior. Nothing whoremoney gold makes is "Superior"
@@DIEGhostfish the Italian orchestrated music is very much more superior than the Japanese score in Macross. Also the lore created is very much more superior and interesting in Robotech than Macross. In fact Macross 2 is a massive ripoff of the Southern Cross era of Robotech, both the main characters are blonde short haired women that are part Zentradi / Meltron, they both have red Veritechs / Valks, they both cause trouble for the Defense forces, their main antagonists are from a species that originally made and or controlled the Zentradi / Zentron, The are both purple haired aces that use Red Bioroid mecha. And the Anti-Culture is very much inspired by the Invid. The majority of Macross stories are bad or weird, even Macross Zero is cursed with a dumb plot device, in this case, singing aliens. Robotech on the other hand overall has great stories, it has loads of source books that flesh out the other mecha and countries in Robotech with fantastic fast amounts of detail. Frankly also, Robotech has way more Destroid pilots that are characters unlike Macross which might only have some pilots for the OG Macross only.
oh, this movie is such a guilty pleasure favorite. I saw it as a kid, was amazed by the awesome effects and awesome giant robots and cool characters, loved it, forgot about it, found a link to it 20 years later, vaguely remembered loving it, watched it, was amazed by the mediocre effects and goofy robots and even more goofy characters, was shocked by just how laughable it was, and I FUCKING LOVED IT EVEN MORE. It truly is one of those "so bad it's great" kind of movies. But I can't help but wonder if people just a few years younger would never get the same feeling from it as those of us who were just old enough to have grown up with the cold war looming as our ever-nearing demise.
You gotta love the mysterious transformer tranq gun. From behind she's holding a silver painted hot glue gun and the closeup is some junkpile bitz box slam pistol.
So I was having a "friendly" discussion with a borderline sjw, normie friend of mine and he was trying to explain why Black Widow was the best marvel movie of all time. At a point he got totally exasperated and asked me what was the last thing I saw that I really, really liked... The answer to my friends question is a gentleman who goes by the name of Fist, Razorfist and he is a gift from on high. Sadly my buddy will never experience the joy that is Razorfist.
I love this overwrought bastard. By no means is it a good movie, but holy hell, is it ever fun. A shining beacon of what cinema was and should never have stopped being.
I remembered this movie very differently. Hadn't seen it since I was 4 years old and always thought it was better film quality. Seeing it now makes me draw in to question all my childhood memories.
Me and my best bud from back in the day watched those both around the same time as we played the shit outa some BattleTech back in the early 90's Pencil Paper & imagination days.
This was just the content I needed as I come to the end of my Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries playthrough. Look on the bright side Fist, you get to keep all the money!
I actually saw this "classic" in the theaters as a kid. Of course Achilles's mech has a weak ankle. I'd still rather watch this than any recent action movie
"oh hey robot jox. i remember that movie. oh hey robert thurston that sounds familiar." robot jox was the movie that made me love mechs and 5 years later Jade Falcon was being given away at my church. i never put the two together. no wonder i became obsessed with roberts books.
5th grade, one of the highlights of my childhood. It was the birth of my love of battletech. Let it be known, MechAssualt on Xbox is the greatest mech game of all time.....fight me.
29:45 - there’s your problem. It’s the damn RCA jacks are all corroded! I am so glad you guys persevered and got this out. Just genius. The cuts were superb and the narration was awesome!
I don't remember when I saw this movie. I remember it being cheesy and badly acted. But that scene with the rocket fist on the ground stuck with me all this time as fucking badass.
May I humbly recommend a Rageaholic Cinema on the Clint film The Gauntlet? It’s as if it were made to be featured on the channel. I mean holy hell, it’s got Clint, it’s got Phoenix, it’s got Assy McGee’s boss, it’s got Motorcycles running from Helicopters, It’s got a mediocre remake with Mos Def, by golly it’s got everything.
I loved this one as a kid. Watched it a few weeks ago held up better than I thought it would. It's still a fun movie for anyone who loves 80's b movies or giant robots.
I think I first saw this as a teen on “USA Up All Night w/ Rhonda Shears” back in the ‘90s and loved it because it reminded me of all the cool mecha Anime I grew up with like “Robotech”! But I never saw or heard of the film again until RU-vid, lol!
