You might want to try or start practicing when you downshift to match your engine revs with your downshifting that's hard on a transmission and the motor.😂🤣😭😢
@@tinoroguljic3204 Of course this bike has a clutch (unlike the Africa Twin with DCT for example). You can see him using the clutch in the roundabout. Also bikes with DCT have some additional controls for parking mode, handbrake (where the clutch usually is) and manual shifting. To the comment and video: he uses the quickshifter for up- (and blipper for down-) shifting - so rev matching is completely unnecessary.
185 / 5 000 The whistle of the 6-cylinder in-line is still just as pleasurable in the revs. The low-sounding rumblings seem to be missing when the throttle is frankly cut off. I will keep my 2018 :-)
*ENJOY!* Wish me luck, guys! I finally caught the virus as well and now I'm hoping it won't get too bad. Because quarantine means time for editing RAWs ;)
To each his own I guess. I tried out the Goldwing before buying my K16GTL and to me the BMW was the hands-down winner in every category. Only exception is the stereo. But since I use Sena exclusively, the bike speakers don’t really mean anything to me.
@@Schaaf yup… 🤣🤣🤣… you can’t take any constructive criticism whatsoever mate. If you’re going to post videos on a public platform, you’ve got to expect some criticism. Get over yourself bud
Excellent demonstration of that beautiful 6cycl beast of a motor! I love how it rumbles off the higher RPM range and how the motor doesn't seem to protest at all during your 6th gear demonstration. Well done and executed Sir!
Different strokes for different folks... If your top priority is "rocking chair" then the Goldwing is for you. But, if Sport Touring long trips are your priority the K1600GT is #1. I've got over 95,000 miles on a GT and have loved every minute!
I agree Duane I’ve ran mine for the last 5 years covered 19 countries and it never fails to put a grin on my face. Loaded or unloaded she pulls like a beast always.
@@Schaaf You notice these things when you know how to ride properly. I see a lot of videos and I cringe on how some people ride in the Twisties. Ride safe and enjoy.
When I FIRST saw one of your videos, I thought you were a bit of a maniac. ;) Then after seeing the types of videos listed on your page, I realized that's just how you ride EVERY bike. And you're a very skilled rider. So now, I'm rather addicted to your videos! hahahaha I've been watching so many of them, even tho I know I'll never own the bikes in question. It's fun to see how hard a bike CAN be ridden, even if 99% of the viewers here will never get close to the level at which you're riding. I think you provide the BEST POV onboard videos here on youtube!! Great sound, riding, and video. Thanks for the great content!!
Thanks. I enjoyed this virtual ride out on the BMW. The course at this speed is tricky to say the least though it gives a lot of pleasure when you get your breath back.
I have one and it has loads more clearance in the turns thanks something like a Goldwing. If you also add some body positioning, you can actually drag knee on this bike. It’s a monster. With the telelever front end, you can actually push so hard on the front tire you can feel when it starts to push when you’re on the absolute limit. I ride it around the twisties in and around Tail of the Dragon and very sport bikes can keep up.
Wow. I would like to ride/learn to ride like that. ( Goes to cycle trader to find out how much it costs, expecting to get get disappointed by pricing..continues to dream..maybe someday.. )
@@umakantgajjewar8898 I got my 2015 in 2020 with 1500 miles for $15k. My ZX14r would be more fun but it’s a 3 hour drive to the Smoky’s and I find it hard to do more than 5 hours on that. I have a GS but it’s not nearly as fun on-road. This bike can easily keep you in the saddle 10-12 hours and you can still rip it when you arrive at the twisties.
Very intresting notes and honest review! Beautifull engine (K1300 as well) with the advantage of huge torque! Lovely riding style Schaaf👏 Wish u a speed recovery (you are too fast for this virus😁😎)
Well I just took delivery of the Gt. Same color. I have owned several BMWs. I transitioned front an R1250 RT. This bike is by far the most fun I’ve had so far. All BMW radio sucks. But the bike is awesome. Thanks for sharing the video
I have a GT with The Akras sounds slightly more robust, but that was a hell of a ride, I couldn't do that until I had a few passes to learn that road. Kudos
There is something magical about motorcycle engines with cylinders in 3 or 6 arrangements. To my ears it is hard to beat the sound of a triple but these opposed 6's are a close 2nd! Best sounding modern BMW in my opinion!
Beautiful sounds from that six cylinder. I love hustling big tourers down twisty roads. Pity about the gearbox though! Always a blast watching you ride!
Ich finde den bassigen Sound bei niedrigen Drehzahlen sehr geil, erinnert mich an die herrlichen BMW-Reihensechser in den E36/E46 Modellen der 3er-Reihe.
I rode one of these in bagger form at a BMW test ride event. I have an S1000R and a KTM 1190 now, but I can’t get the image of trading them in for one of these out of my head. This motor is pure joy to ride slow, and pure giggles to wring out. I’m also old, so maybe that’s my problem.
Schaaf, I wish you get well. If you have time in the future I will kindly suggest you to ride in the same road with you drove goldwing. The road in this record seems having too many sharpen curves and K1600 is heavy bike. I had both GW and GTL, I honestly expected that GT will make you more happy especially in terms of performance. Thanks for sharing, best wishes!
By the way Schaaf, there are three types of windshields available as I found after looking to the page of BMW, so you should not complain about that, without mention it. You seem to be bigger than average, as I see in the shadow falling on the street, so you need some other shield.
I'm absolutely allowed to complain since this bike boasts to be a super long distance tourer. It absolutely needs to provide perfect wind protection with every kind of shield. It simply fails to do so. They need to take a look at Honda to learn how to do it right
Oh My God.. i was checking about this bike as I am shifting from Kawasaki ZX14r to something like BMW K1600 or Goldwing. This is stock sound of this bike?? With Akrapovic slip-on, the sound of this beast will be mindblowing. Decided after watching video.. thanks a ton..
Spot on !!! That's why I moved to the new Goldwing. Goldwing checked all the boxes for me. I am just hoping Honda, one day, will offer a quick shift assist like the BMW. For what I paid for my Tour, I got what I wanted. I love mine !!!!
I Owned a 2015 1600 GT towed a small camper trailer behind it . Its the best bike I have ever ridden and the worst thing I did was sell it but I hope to buy another one. But I see why BMW say dont tow a trailer very hard to take off in first gear . but touring Australia for 26 days was pure bliss
Sounds awesome to see the bike getting chucked about and the quick shifter seems a bit notched to the gear change,,but WOW that's one great motorcycle ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
I'm sure the BMW is indeed faster though the big Wing sounds much better. I shopped them both and bought the Wing bagger for its lower center of gravity which may not have mattered 30 years ago but does to me now. Excellent video as always.
I’m (only) 30 years old, I used to ride daytona675… R1 … shits like that. after having test this k1600gt I gonna buy one for long trips. It’s a really really good bike ! ✌️
Amazing video ! I own a 1250 GS Adventure HP and just ordered this 1600 GT to get the power I miss and some good racing sound. Best regards from Spain ^ ^
I love this bike, it's freaking awesome, it has all you need... sound, performance, comfort, but I've a question for you schaaf. Have you taken a look at the fuel consumption of this bike? I've a friend with the previous model and he told me that it drinks a lot...
I guess if you give it the beans, Schaaf is 💯 correct. I have a 22 model GT as well, but not this LCI model. My bike has only 2000km on it, but if I ride it around 140 - 150km/h on open roads, I am getting about 450km on a tank. I think that's excellent, considering it's a 6-cylinder marvel.
I’ve a 2017 gtl and hit 500 when touring so for me there is no other bike that comes close. But also when I push her she drops to around 320km to a tank still awesome I think for such a big bike
Man this bike is the Porsche 911 Speedster of bikes, it’s simply fast for a bike of this type and feels luxurious and premium, if money wasn’t an issue, I’d go ahead and buy this as my first bike
The "please read the description" message is golden! 🤦🏿♂️ Tired of ppl asking some pointless questions which I take soo much time to list out in the description 🤦🏿♂️
I'm not a fan of those sofas on 2 wheels. But for me the purpose of this kind of motorcycles is to be comfortable. And while BMW has a very nice engine and it's quite sporty Honda is the definition of a "luxury cruiser". It's comfortable, powerful enough, engine is even smoother (Schaaf can tell us) and you can get a Automatic transmission!
Nice ride. I love your videos. When i test the k I felt really uncomfortable, don't know why. I went to a Honda dealer and wait for a gold to test. Finally, I got the goldwing. The bagger one. I love it, it is not así sporty as the k, but it is really easy and comfortable to ride. Vssss
How fast do you reckon this thing could go if we theoretically stripped down its weight.removed the fairings, luggage holders and bunch of other stuff. Has any youtuber done something like this b4 on a k1600? still a beast in its stock form with 240kph top speed potential.a 100kg weight reduction would be crazy on a 6 cylinder bike.
Beautifully shot video. Can I ask what your gopro settings were? And did you use ND filter? Also what are you using to capture audio. Just experimenting with manual control on mine now.
I can't really confirm your complaints about the bike. The blind spot monitoring is available on maybe three or four bikes as of now, that's not really the benchmark for luxury travel. Yes, the stereo sounds bad but that's not the point. It's there to be played within your helmet, the speakers are just an additional extra for the fun of it. If you want the full wind protetion with this bike, go with the GTL, not the GT. Radar assisted cruise control and blind spot monitoring are to be expected with the next upgrade as other BMW models are already equipped with ACC. There will always be something that one Luxury model offers that another one has.
Your argumenting from the perspective of an emotionally attached owner, I judge from the perspective of an objective bike tester. From that second perspective all claims are 100% valid
