This one is definitely the coolest Indy hat you can buy. I would like to see a follow up video of the hat to see what it looks like once its shaped and worn in.
Interesting you say you just recently got on Facebook to connect with more of us in the Indy community. It is pretty much the ONLY reason I still even have Facebook lol. Love the video, Trent!! Looking forward to connecting and seeing what you have in store next man. AMAZING hat!!
Folding a leather sweatband will lead to cracks in the leather and eventually you will need to get a new sweatband installed, and that’s not cheap. You can save by sewing it in yourself at the very bottom of the sweatband, but that takes a lot of time because you also must remove the hat ribbon, then re-attach it when finished sewing the sweatband in. The hat ribbon’s function is to hide those sweatband stitches and make the hat look finished. Better way to reduce the size of a hat to place or glue 4 inch lengths of felt from an arts and Crafts or fabric store. Cut some 2” wide and others 1” wide. Put a two inch strip in back and try on. Still loose? Put a 1 “ wide strip atop the 2” strip and try on. Loose? Then repeat for front sweatband. If just a little too tight, cut the strip down to 3 inches long and put it back. When you get the size right, use a few drops of Elmer’s white or wood glue so the strips don’t fall out. You can also get construction paper and fold it in on itself over and over to form a 4 inch long, 2” wide strip that’s as thick as you need it. Test it by putting it under the sweatband in back first, then front till snug. You can use a newspaper in a pinch. Once you get it like you want it, use some Elmer’s glue sparingly to hold it in place. You can also buy cork or cotton water-absorbent strips from online hat stores or EBay that stick to the inside or outside of the sweatband. They decrease size but also absorb sweat, which can stain the hat. Good luck!
Those Indiana Jones Hats ought to have a leather string with a ball that can tighten it, so this hat won't blow off your head. Because that's what this hat does, and then you have to chase after it, which I did. You could also hide a North American Arms 5 shot 22lr mini revolver in the top inner of this hat, a secret hideaway gun held in place with a round velcro patch.
Doesn't have the 'turn' like the SOC hat did in Raiders - that is why the brim looks so much different than the other films. You can tell by how far the bow is to the center of the face.
This video was uploaded on my birth day and is about a prop from probably my favorite scene from my personal favorite Indy film, just gotta say totally bitchin man
