This isn't complete without parents talking, siblings screaming and arguing, the item roulette spinning, constantly falling off the stage, and finally, the blue shell right at the end.
Or whenever you played online, this seemed like the only track everyone picked. It felt like a collective effort to piss everyone off, and I found that to be a truly magical experience.
I know the 3DS Rainbow Road exists, but this will ALWAYS be my favorite rendition of Rainbow Road. The atmosphere is beautiful, with the road taking place above the earth, the star bits surrounding you reminding you of Super Mario Galaxy, the star rings over the speed boosts, the fact that you turn into a meteor when you fall off the track, god, everything was so perfect, including the music. This sounds so upbeat and ethereal, and much like Mario Galaxy, it really exemplifies the sheer wonder of being in space. This entire track feels like an adventure, and best of all, it really has the difficulty a last track should have. This is not only a wonderous experience, but the perfect test of everything Mario Kart Wii has taught you with the sheer drop at the start, the tight turns, the shortcuts, it's all so great. Sure, it's damn tough, but I never felt truly discouraged trying to master it. And when you finally master this track, you really do feel like you can achieve anything, and that difficulty ultimately gives it the nod for me over the 3DS Rainbow Road. This really was the perfect conclusion to what will always be my favorite Mario Kart game. EDIT: It's in Tour, yes! And the music is the same amazing Wii theme based on the trailer! What a magnificent way to start out 2023.
The music may be the same in tour, but it could change in MK8DX if it makes it. But growing up with this track, I’m praying that it will be the same with only a remaster.
Mario Kart Wii was the first game I ever played. At such a young age, I only ever committed to memory the melody of this song and my old, broken Wii. Now that this is being added to 8 Deluxe for the Switch, I may just get a chance to experience that pure bliss for the first time again. This might be the most nostalgic song ever. Thanks, Nintendo.
Just so you know, Mario Kart Wii's OST is not recorded live. It is created in a DAW, using soundfonts, and then played back through the Nintendo Wii's sound system.
@@ChillaxeMake I didn't know that, actually. The reason why I brought this up though, is because I've tried playing the melody part on flute before, and everything after the modulation is incredibly hard to read.

So, if I'm not mistaken, the reasoning behind that is: 7 sharps is C# major, which is enharmonic to D flat major (5 flats). And 2 sharps is D major. So, @janajusimi269 is right that it just goes down a semitone: from D major to D flat major.
This song brings tears to my eyes. I got the Nintendo Wii for my birthday in 2011, and although I got the Wii U a year later I still mostly played Wii games on it. My cousins would come to my house every weekend between 2013-2015 and would spend hours and hours on this game, even dad joined in occasionally… I even got Mario Kart 8 day one, that’s how much we all loved Mario Kart, it was the best time of my life. Now they’re adults with jobs and have no interest in me whatsoever, and when I rarely see them they don’t even greet me, it’s like they don’t remember the times I cherish so much. I’m almost a adult now and my life is getting worse, my dad is very ill and we never spend time together, my parents are always fighting… I have no friends and suffer with anxiety. I’m not looking for sympathy or anything but please spend as much time possible with the loved ones around you, nothing stays the same forever.
I wish you well mate. I understand where you're coming from, but not your extent. I still spend time with my family but I'm the only one that still plays Nintendo consoles. My brother and I would spend countless hours on Mario Kart, raging at each other. Good times. Now he's soley a Playstation player. I feel as if he thinks Nintendo games are too childish for him now. My parents would also join in back in the day, but my mum has lost interest and my dad is away working most of the time. Sometimes I just want to go back to those simpler times.
Yeah, but once you get good at riding rainbow road, it is SO FUN. all the tricks you can do, and if you get a golden mushroom, you can jump that large casm, ah, so much fun. And the music is so freaking epic.
i was hoping the nostalgia was gonna make this perfect, but it's just not as good as 8 imo, great song but my nostalgia glasses made me crave more :/ 8.5/10
Always loved the fast percussion in this one, but the strings, brass, piano and synths are also really good. Very memorable melodies in an amazing arrangement, absolutely great music.
This song is a huge banger.for the fact that this is children’s game the orchestral and synth instruments make a perfect harmony .the addition of gusty garden is sure to make you feel joy.this is truly an incredible masterpiece.
I have been listening to this track for 15 years and today I realized the second half of the first motif has a counter melody that samples the chorus of the Good Egg galaxy theme from Mario Galaxy 😭❤️
To those who think games aren't a medium of art; you could not be more wrong. This game is to other games as Van Gogh was to other artists. And Rainbow Road is to MarioKart Wii as Sunflowers is to Van Gogh.
As someone who grew up with Mario kart Wii and especially loved rainbow road, I'm so honored that they included this as the final track in the BCP. It was the best way to end it. And the remake itself is awesome

It’s challenging, but doable. Once you get a feel for it and come up with a strategy, you’re unstoppable! That is, if no stupid Blue Shells come flying your way and mess you up big time.
Even if i am only 15, i remember playing that with my sister when we were super young and that feeling of nostalgia of hearing that song again after almost 6 years is priceless
Looking back, I honestly couldn’t be more happy to say that Mariokart Wii was the first video game I ever played when I was 3 back in 2009. This game will forever hold a special place in my heart ❤️ Thank you Nintendo, for this masterpiece of a video game
This game is so special to me... I remember when I was 4 and my sister was 3. We loved playing Mario Kart Wii, but we always had to get our mom to help us unlock stuff. We'd come home from our grandma's house and be like "did you unlock anything while we were gone?!" Our favorite tracks were Delfino Square, Moo Moo Meadows, Daisy Circuit, and Coconut Mall. I pronounced "mall" as "mail", and neither of us knew how to say "meadows", so Moo Moo Meadows was known as "the moo moo track". My sister HATED Rainbow Road, but I loved it, even though I sucked at it. For some reason, I thought it was really funny to drive off the track on purpose. But then, when I was 6, we lost our Wii and our games in a house fire. I didn't think about Mario Kart Wii for a few years after that. Then, when I was 10, I got really obsessed with it and asked for it for Christmas. And I'll never forget how I felt when I opened that box and saw what was inside... Fast forward to present day, and I still love this game. My sister never plays Mario Kart Wii anymore, but she sometimes plays Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with me. And I'm glad she still remembers the memories of us in our old house, playing Mario Kart Wii together. This song perfectly conveys the feelings of happiness, excitement, nostalgia, and warmth I associate with this game. I'll continue to play this game again and again until I die. Thank you, Mario Kart Wii, for making my childhood great.
no i agree with this- i used to play this with my sister back in 2009-2012. now shes studying in uni and i just graduated highschool and finished all my exams literally yesterday. we grew up playing SMG and mario kart and man, this brings back so much memories. its so bittersweet :,)

Rainbow Road itself was ahead of its time too - a literal racetrack with almost zero guardrails in low orbit just above Earth - you can’t tell me otherwise.
This track is inevitable to come to Mario Kart 8, it's basically confirmed. (and am I glad that we don't have to go through the nightmare that is being forced to play on it with tilt controls... Aka the Wii, I haven't experienced it myself but it sounds like the ultimate method of torture lol)
When I was a kid, I remember raging while constantly seeing my character falling down to Earth as a meteor, along with pieces of my black Wii remote on the floor. Now, I'm a student attending college. I get a nostalgic but bittersweet feeling from this song due to drama in my family.
the wii was, and still is one of the best console ever released in my humble opinion, it managed to make gaming accessible to way more people in a intuitive way while still having awesome games for fans and veterans. The wii feels different from other consoles, and a lot of that is because almost every corner of the system is filled with awesome music, even where it's not needed, like options menu or loading menus.
