Very good, I brain stormed so much about how to lift the drum i was going crazy, this is my 1st blower. After last year there's no way I'm going through that again with a snow shovel. Your video looked so easy as I walked back to see if mine had them...bought it used, but in excellent shape. There they were ! Awesome it's going to be so easy. Apparently the young last owner didn't know because he said he had all kinds of issues with rocks...everyone up here has a rock driveway. I'm assuming he didn't know because man, he put a lot of dents in the housing and had a big box of shear pins...lol. He moved to Tennessee so I don't know if he'll regret selling this big blower...runs great! Thanks
Oh wow good buy for you! I laughed when you mentioned the dentin his house. I've seen people put lots of holes in their vinyl siding with a snow blower
God lord THANK YOU. I can't believe its so hard to find a video for exactly this!! I type in "how to lower snowblower to get closer to the ground?" Instead I get videos on why I shouldn't use PAM in the auger
I just got rid of the shoes on mine and put adjustable wheels off of an old lawn mower. Now I can adjust it down to clean off my concrete and adjust it up to do my gravel driveway. It works slicker than snot on a doorknob!
Great information, Roland! I've never had a snow blower. I've seen many driveways ruined by scraping, lol, leaving gravel piles, and wondering what happened. I bet they didn't raise their blades either, lol. God Bless!
thanks. got 2 snowblowers and going to check now if they have these adjustments. just moved to a new place and the whole lot is gravel. it was throwing stones like jesus was being crucified
Your skid shoes were not level to the ground so they aren’t completely making full ground contact. Instead of that 2x4 and guessing where to position the skids, how about putting a paint stir stick (or whatever clearance you’re going for) under the scrapper bar then dropping the skids to make full ground contact before retightening the bolts?
Do not use Pam. Use silicone spray. Pam hardens in very cold weather, like just about any kind of cooking grease. Silicone does not. Spray Pam on a shovel or something, leave it on the porch, and check it out at 20 degrees. See if it's still shedding snow. Silicone will be.
I think the adjustable "legs" should be designed like snow mobile skis.....to prevent them from making a "trench" in the gravel .....and still throwing rocks. IMO
Thank goodness I don't have to worry about shoveling snow anymore. When I was single and had my first little house in Minneapolis, I shoveled a lot of snow. Never was fortunate enough to have a snowblower until I got married and hubby decided it was time to get one! Have a good one, Roland!
@@LiabilityDiscourse FYI, this really won't work all that great on a single stage snow blower, as most that I've seen don't have rear drive wheels. They use the auger to pull the snow blower along. If you raise the front and don't contact the ground, that makes it really hard to move the machine, as you will have to push it.
Also. Put a. Paint paddle flat under skraper as a guage. Bouta 1/8. Ish off ground Also. Use. The same ceramic wax. You use on yur vehicle. In both shoot and housing T. Y J. Edson
No it wasn't helpful because your title stated " For Gravel driveways" All you talk about was pavement. And yes you can still adjust the shoes for gravel, but it will horribly dig into the gravel and it will still pick up gravel and you will have deep groves down your driveway. As of now I have seen no real fix for gravel you can buy shoes that are a bit wider, but not wide enough. What this snowblower needs is small sky's to float on top of the gravel. I ended up building my own. Their about 3 1/2 wide with a curl in front and back...remember you will be reversing it at time's. I really need help with a solution so your video was disappointing, I'll just work on my confidence to solve my own issues as I see mistitled video's more & more. No offense intended.
