Nice job and proof you can have a raised koi pond in a corner without the “leave at least a metre of space around the pond” noncence...a decent uv will clear a lot of that green water by the way👍

@danster1988
@danster1988 3 года назад
Hiya pal I put loose brick and no concrete foundation. In the end when the sleepers were in place and tied together, one side at a time I knocked the spoil out and packed it with chicken wire and cement. A bit of messing around but I've seen people do the concrete base and then find a cable or a water pipe where they have planned to dig

Great Pond. Another glass question sorry, did you have to put any vertical support in for the 2 x sleepers that have been cut for the window?
@danster1988
@danster1988 4 года назад
So how I did it Craig I used 25mm battons to make a frame with a 10cm overlap on each side for the glass to sit in. Then 25mm insulation boards so it was flush then the liner folded into overlap, applied sealant on both glass and liner. Pushed the glass into place and leave to set for 24hrs

Hi dan new subby here lol 👍 just want to say mate that pond is just wow you have done a great job there 👍🐟..... just a quick question though, i see you used a cheaper flexable liner and not rubber there, can i ask have you had any issues with it not sealing to the bottom drain at all?? I only ask because im currently doing the same, a 4inch bottom drain with a ldpe/pvc liner as i cant afford rubber... id be greatfull if you could let me know please Thanks Lee
@danster1988
@danster1988 3 года назад
Hiya Lee, Thanks for the comment, yes I used a cheap liner and 2 months down the liner I had nothing but problems. Leaking around the glass. The silicone does not bond to PVC liner like rubber does. A lesson learnt, don't skimp on the liner. Regards the bottom drain that did not leak with the PVC liner

Hi pal, awesome pond. I’m looking at building my own from scratch early next year, and in all honesty the pond I’ve designed is pretty identical to yours ha!! So because of that I’ve got a cheeky question for you, roughly how much have you paid to build the main carcass of it minus the filter?? as I’m going for a slightly different set up!!

@danster1988

Hi Dan, so I made the shape with a first layer of sleepers and dug 2.5ft down, i then used rebar through all layers of sleepers, put chicken wire around the part I had dug down and over lapped with the 2 bottom layers of sleepers then pushed cement over the wire making a reinforced wall then after all that insulation boards over the top
