Kool Moe Dee is also a pioneer of word play and flows, he invented super fast rhyming and thesaurus heavy words. Grandmaster Caz is a lyrical pioneer on the story telling, clever word play, humorous hard core style of rapping. They all had songs before 82 out. They all were rhyming in the 70s. Rakim is the extension of them and he admits that.

Rakim is not the pioneer of lyrical rap. You have to go to Grandmaster Caz,Melle Mel and MOE Dee. Also lyrics was always at the forefront of emceeing
