Hi and thanks for tuning in! Our RU-vid channel was recently switched to a brand account from a personal one and some past comments were lost as a result. Please ask any questions you have and we’ll get to them as quickly as possible, thanks again for watching and please don’t forget to hit like, subscribe, and enjoy!
"Nothing's really done to the engine, except for the cams, pistons, head work, intake, ecu tune. You know, stock." Great video though, thanks for the info.
@@Osprey1994 Bc it’s proven and the things that break on it are expected to break. I daily a focus but I would never do a rally build for it. Thinking about getting a CHEAP fiesta
That wheel scraper is the kinda detail I never would have thought of that really made me go, "Hmm, neat!" These videos are really cool and informative.
This guy is awesome. He never stops talking, which in this case is a good thing. No "eh.. eh... uhmm.. uhhh.." he knows what he wants to talk about and just goes for it. Gives you more confidence he knows what he's talking about instead of second guessing himself or trying to think of what he's actually talking about.. Good shit!
I wish I had your energy to publicly speak. You don't even stutter, mess up, or read a script, and it's all done in one take. Goals. I want you to build my future rally Miata. Kthxbye.
I've watched about 5 videos so far and I gotta say: The amount of information density here is phenomenal, although it's still so easy to comprehend. I'm in awe at how much this stuff is soaking into my brain. All those little pieces of the grand puzzle that I've picked up over my life are now clicking into place. Wyatt, you are a great teacher.
I laughed at "only some really basic stuff has been done to the engine... Only a different engine mapping. Oh and pistons, heads, cams, intake, motor mounts, but really nothing major" :D
Made me laugh but I think I understood what he means, there is no custom work done to the car like welding your own inlet manifold or adapting individual throttle bodies, throttle cables, injectors etc. I think he is saying the parts they use are off the shelf just like the typical coilover, you buy, you bolt, no crazy modding or one off parts. He is kinda right, if they contacted UK CatCams offer for almost any vehicle under the sun and you just pay your monies and bolt it on.
Those mods are not really that crazy... Intake, $150. Motor mounts $300, Cams $600, head port $300, Pistons $1500... ECU $1000.. All of those mods are pretty affordable.. People saying 50k upgrade.. You're crazy. The car is barely 10k brand new with maybe, maybe 4k in engine mods... People spend more on wheels and tires than what is done, concerning HP and TQ gains on this car
i think it is set highspeed compression (if you have it) set lowspeed compression (if you have it) and the most important part is to set the rebound as fast as you can before they start to act like pogo sticks. also set the springs for what you need, springs that get stiffer the more travel you use.
Great video. I've been a rally fan since watching Colin McRae in his first Scottish International Rally when he was 17 driving a Vauxhall Nova Sport 1.3- I was 15 at the time. I'd have loved to have the chance but have never rallied a car- this really explained a lot of the prep involved. Great channel.
Love the content you guys are doing recently. Would be very interested to see what kind of alignment specs you guys run on the cars. Keep up the good work!
I havent found for a long time a video that could make explain a lot of stuff of a rally car like this one... I Live in Brazil and here is very dificult to find anything about this kind of stuff. Now I have an ideia on how can I go on preping my car... Thank You so much!
So interesting and you have answered some of my question. I am actually building a Subaru for racing and I wish you could also give us some information on what requirement to do so as to achieve that start speed of say, from note to 100 in seconds.
i remember driving my old toyota mr2. i think it had 2/4 engine mounts (opposed) actually installed. then it had 3/4, then it had 3.9/4 (all there except for 1 bolt) then i sold it. GG
I’d love a parts list for the Fiesta. I haven’t raced anything in a long time but rallycross looks like loads of fun. Have been thinking about a Fiesta ST but really taking a base car and beefing it up would be more fun and likely more competitive. And if I decide to go further it wouldn’t be wasted- cage it and run it at that point.
Great video as always Wyatt! "And the world's a happy place!" Is the foam between skid plate and oil pan special? Most foam is pretty flammable I thought?
What shocks would you recommend for a 2011 ford fiesta as a good "entry level " shock kit? In the 2k-2500 or less budget. Nice you schooled me on the brake rotors. Just go flat rotor.. no drilled or slotted. Shift threw the gears "waaahh gaaa gaaa gaaa"!! Nice! Do you all sell that fiesta skid plate? Where do you get the kevlar sheets from? GREAT VIDEO
Team O'neal if one wanted to get into rally cross but wasn't sure if they wanted to commit to the sport but also didnt want to finish last place all the time which car would you suggest and what would be the absolute bare necessities you would want to go for besides obviously safety stuff Roll cage fire stuff fire suit seat belts that kinda stuff is a given but excluding that.
I've got a question that I hope someone can answer for me ! I'm planning on getting my rally licence in the coming months as it's only a day course but when I get it I'm limited to 1.6 litre engines till i finish 4 events then I can drive what ever but my question is can i use a shell from a small light car and cram a 1.6 litre engine into it with all the safety requirements such a role cage and electrical cut off and still compete in stages even tho the engine and car will be different makes ? thanks to who ever can answer this
Can't help but notice that's not a standard Fiesta upright. Ford insists on using those weird clamp connections to keep the shock attached to the knuckle, this uses the classic two-bolt connection. Plus correct me if I am wrong, but the Fiesta features 4-lug wheels, but this one has 5 lugs. If I were a betting boy I'd guess these are uprights from a Mazda CX7.
Awesome video full of good content at whats all involved explaining all the little details. Curious on what material is used for the horizontal pieces in the rear. It is a UHMW sheet or HDPE sheet?
This is an old video, but M-sport seems to be the source for most build parts, so that is likely the answer, but is the cone shaped front mount Rally intake filter assembly available for sale to the general public as we attempt to build our own RallyX cars? If so, where? Not on theM-sport parts page that I have found. If anyone knows, I would appreciate a point in the right direction. Thanks
Do you have a different car setup for a lesser class race , which would be easier for your wallet . Thanks you for the videos they have been well worth watching. JL Eastern. Va.
Excellent presentation indeed! I've been looking for this kind of information since I'm building a rally car slowly-by-slowly. Ever done any work on Mitsubishi Lancer/Mirage 1.6litre FWD? If so I would be interested to see it; otherwise I've learnt quite a lot about a rally car build from this Ford Fiesta project. Thanks and keep up the good work.
A number of people have built up lancers but we haven't. Good luck on your build. If you ever need a professional rally car builder look up Thompson Racing Fabrication
from R3 to WRC cars all brake discs we mount are all slotted, of course not drilled (Not only because of dirt getting into the holes but also because drilled rotors are overall way fragile) but slotted rotors are pretty common (Even on gravel)...only N groups (AT least here in italy) mount normal vented rotors but N group are pretty much street cars with safety equip, some small things (Like engine mounts) and better suspensions with very little work on engine, so they don't really need that much braking
i heard ("directly" from some guy from an brakes-company in a video) that both slotted and drilled rotors just do clean your brake pads, but drilled is worse than slotted because they are "randomly" located and so they doesn't have a good cleaning effect. And for rally of course the thing with the stones apply, i guess
whats the average price per rim/wheel like you mentioned in the video? i want some for my vehicle but want to make sure im getting the real deal and not a clone or something of the sort.
Sorry if you have answered this elsewhere, but where could I purchase that aftermarket extended front fender you have on this car? I want to also run with some small spacers, but am already having issues with a 185/65/15 gravel tire coming into contact with the fender, and I have pulled the factory ones out as far as they will go. Thanks for the great videos TO!
get several yards of t shirt material from the fabric store, a hot glue gun a couple dozen sticks of the black high temp glue sticks for glue gun and a couple gallons of fiberglass resin. make a simple frame out of wood or plastic rods around the part of the fender you wish to extend, coat the top of fender with hot glue then stick the t shirt material over it. then stretch the material over the frame that youve made around the fender, glue it in place. then coat the material liberally with resin and allow to cure. lightly sand the surface and apply another layer of resin and then some fiberglass mat- tjust one thin layer will be fine. once that cures shoot a layer of catalyzed sprayable body filler on it, sand till it looks acceptable to you. you now have a fiberglass or even a carbon fiber mold that you can make as many fenders as you want from. all these race shops where they are making all these one piece front ends and custom body panels for the race cars are doing it almost exactly like im describing above. make a prototype part that looks how you want it then take a mold off that part and you're set to make as many as you like.
If you guys are looking to make content Could I recommend you guys make a video about the gear you need inside the car safety bag what's needed in it ect. I'm taking notes for my 1st build I'm doing now.
Wyatt, are those engine mounts and transmission mounts that you pointed to only available in the M-Sport R2 cage kit or are there off the shelf solutions as well? Also, do those mounts connect to existing points on the engine and tranny case of a base fiesta car or are those points also only available on a kit car with the upgraded engine and seq. tranny? thanks in advance!
Hi TORS. Is there any modification required to fit the Reiger units? Modifications to the strut towers etc? Also, where do you mount the front skid guard mount frame? Cheers
Just curious, did Wyatt race Motocross growing up? There is something very moto about the way he speaks and describes things. Reminds me of moto anyway👍😂
