I have a 2014 6.7 also. Lots of engine light on. There is the third exhaust system, 4 sensors, 1 new partial wire harness, and about 36 dealer hours, labour and the light is out. Keeping my fingers crossed. Other than the seat comfort I like the truck.have pulled my 30’fifth about 80 k . Presently have 170k on it. Like your channel
Thank you for sharing this video. It is great to see how excited and happy you are with your new truck. It sure is a magnificent truck. Good for you my friend! Enjoy it.
Nice Truck! I'm A Huge Fan Of The Cummins Turbo Diesel. it Offers The Horse Power You Need. when It's Cold Outside. your Truck Will Always Start Up. Ford And Chevy Will Have Trouble.
Rams are the best, just got a 2012 2500 slt it's amazing, it feels as if they come with 4 inch lift from factory, chevy ford gmc, have nothing on this rams
Thanks for the video! I love the truck. I just ordered a 2015 2500 Cummins limited last week and I scouring youtube looking at videos of the truck while I wait the 12 weeks for delivery. Your video and your truck are very well done - Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I wasn't looking at Dodge (RAM) either until I stopped by a dealer and saw the thing up close. WOW great truck and "over-built" like I wanted. I ended up with a 2014 2500 Laramie with the Cummins. It was RU-vid videos like yours' that pointed me to RAM - Nice job!
Thanks Clarence, I was just so proud of it, I had to share it. The nicest truck I ever owned. It's an animal. The phase "Don't worry about the mule, just load the wagon" pretty much describes this beast. I've made three trips pulling my camper since I got it in April. Ark, CO and South Fl. I just set the cruise and let her eat. I almost hate to get to my destination, it's so much fun to travel in this thing.
Couldn't agree more. Drove mine down to FL from MD to see our son, wife slept most of the way, son drove my truck and he bought almost the identical truck less than a month later. I got better than 21 MPG down and back!
i did the exact same thing that you did. i had a 2012 chevy 1/2 ton that i really liked. but when i bought my camp trailer at 5,000 lbs i was a little irritated at the lack of pulling power. i could have kept the chevy and ran the transmission in 4th the whole time, but i can't stand when a truck shifts all the time. there is nothing flat about Oregon so i went and looked at the new Ram. i bought a cummins diesel and even went with the 6 speed manual tranny. i love pulling trailers now, pulled my father in laws toy hauler to elk camp, loaded down at about 12,000 lbs. i was still pulling hills at 55-60 mph going right by the 1/2 ton trucks. i will never go back. Congrats and best of luck, like you said in the video...... i can see a new trailer coming soon.
Bad ass truck, ram makes the best trucks in the world, I drive a 03 2500 6 in line cummins, it has over 300,000 and still going strong, so you better love yours cuz its going to last you for ever
I was actually the only person in my family who had mopar vehicles, from a Durango, Ram, Jeep, Chrysler. I thought about getting the new Eco diesel, but I want to hear the diesel. In my opinion, my 2008 Avalanche LTZ loaded which got 22 on the highway, was the best Chevy I owned. I apologize on my end as well.
Nrfa No problem. The EPA has loaded up the diesel with pollution equipment that it's really not much advantage owning one like it used to be. The turbo is water cooled so it's muffled and the exaust is so restricted, it just about sounds like a car. ha. I do really like the looks of my truck but I like the looks of the Chevy and Fords also. I think they are all good if you take care of them. Appreciate your input.
Man you are so blessed!! I'm 21 years old.. And I make good money for someone my age. But insurance on a durable truck like that would kill me.. The best I could probably do is a V8 gasser... But I'm looking for the day that I can say I use a diesel as my daily driver!!!
Thanks, Jeffery, I am blessed. Hang in there, you'll get there. It took me 67 years to get this beautiful piece of work Unfortunately the insurance companies penalize every male under 25 for the actions of a few. I'd give this truck up in a heartbeat to be 21 again so enjoy the journey, the destintaion will come soon enough. thanks for the kind reply.
I bought the the same truck, year and model ( i have the dually)about 5 months ago. Since then dodge has replaced over 12,000 worth of parts. Main cpu , entire digital dash , the radio, navigation system . So far I have outof pocket 10,000+ dollars dodge has spent over 12,000. Spoke with corporate and it sounds like they are going to buy this one back from me again. Yes I said again, 6 months ago the had to buy back my dodge ram 3500 dually big horn, I had over 30,000 worth of water damage to the interior due to not installing the sun roof drain tubes. Black mold all over the whole truck. I hope you don't have thesame problems as I did and do. But I will go get another ram 3500 dually , damn I love my truck just wish it didnt have the problems.
That's sickening. I think I'd be looking at a Chevy or Ford if I had that kind of issue. But on the other hand, if they are buying them back, I guess you are kind of married to them for now as the buy back is usually a deal you can't refuse. Why did you have to pay 10k out of pocket? Not that it makes your problems any more palatable. I don't have a sun roof, thank God and the truck sleeps in a garage so it's not as susceptible to leaks. But I'm been in very bad weather. Good luck with the new one, I hope they get you fixed up.
I own a property management company, and my truck is my main work truck. That said , I earn about 475.00- 525.00 per day 13 days in shop + hotels for 15 days + meals+ employee lost income + fuel for travel, and other minor out of pocket expenses. California lemon law+ song Beverly act forces ram to buy it back. 3 or more times in the shop within 18,000 miles or 18 months which ever happens first.
I looked at other trucks and they do not have to extra stuff ram does jake brake is awesome, saves the brakes. I tow a couple different trailers , ram 30,000 tow blows the others away. I have been a Chrysler man for over 15 years now. When you buy a 70,000 dollar truck you expect it to work. My lawyers are with Boeing company, he is 1,500 per hour. Ram had to pay all my lawyers fees at a total of 17,000 the last time, so I told them do right by me on this 1 and we can keep the lawyers out of it, they seem to like that idea....hahahah. will keep you posted as more info get handed down to me
Lucky man........RAM diesel is the KING ! I'm rocking a 2007-5.9 cummins. and I would get a NEW 2015 RAM 2500-Cummins . Before anything else. Best of luck with it. Keep them tires set proper, remember the stretch when new........lowering the pressure. Dont want to loose that MPG. and keep that OIL changed........she will last ya 20+ years
I sure will be looking at the 2015--2016 line up 4-sure. Have to see hw this Italian diesel, works out........... but I heard , cummins may be done in the ram line up ???? Hummm, hope RAM trucks, don't make a bad choice...........though toyota & nissan are getting the 5.0 V8 cummins. ;-(
I did hear a 5.0 cummins for both, but Toyota may be just a year or two. Then to create there own diesel engine. Well, they sure do keep us in the guessing game. But scary reviews on that eco diesel...... humm.
Howd your dash holding out and your clear coat? My 96 2500 5.9 Cummins dash fell apart to dust from the sun. Clearcoat started to peel no rust just ugly.
You seem to think you know a lot about me. My house is paid for and so is the truck. The house appraised for $370,000 5 years ago. Don't know how you know so much by looking at the garage door. I'm not single and I do need the truck to pull my travel trailer which is also paid for. I'm am 67 years old and have worked since I was 13 and have saved all my life to pay off my bills so I could enjoy nice things one day. This is that one day. I've never failed to pay for anything I've ever bought. In fact , I've paid off other people's bills I cosigned for. I've never drawn unemployment, spent 2 years in the USMC serving my country, didn't have rich parents (both are dead), lost a brother and a child and worked for every penny I made. My wife has had cancer 3 times and I worked an extra 10 years to make sure my family was taken care of. So I don't know how you can draw so many conclusions from a silly video of an old man's new truck but you couldn't be more wrong.
sharkheadism Logan Sherlock They are doing them now. Bully Dog was the first I think. You have to unlock the ECM which they supply a cable to do. Before you had to send in your ECM and they'd do it.
Nice truck! Do you have leaf springs in the rear or coil? Dodge went to leaf at some point after 2002. 2016 you have to go to the 3500 to get leaf rear springs.
Thanks very much, It's got progressive coil springs. They work great, the ride empty is so much better than my previous leaf springs even with 80 psi in the tires.
Marion Blair Thanks Marion for the reply! I just googled the switch from leaf to coil on the rear and it was the 2014 Ram 2500 when the rear coil begun.
Beautiful truck but be honest your chevy was just fine. I have a 98 Tahoe that I pulled a 4500 pound trailer last night and it did just fine and that's in Denver so high altitude is harder on the engine. The interior of the Dodge trucks I think are best in class followed by the new Silverado.
I could have gotten by with the Chevy, a beautiful LTZ Crew Cab, but with the 3.42 axle, it just didn't work for me. It would downshift (6 speed) on flat interstate highways at every overpass. I had to tow in 4th at 55 mph to keep transmission temp from getting too hot. In the hills it was gutless and miserable traveling. I'm not knocking Chevy, I couldn't live with that particular drive train configuration. When I get into the hilly country with the Cummins, it's; "Don't worry about the mule, just load the Wagon". I just set the cruise and enjoy the trip. I love towing with this truck so much, I hate getting to my destination. It's just so comfortable and now with 10K on it and having made camping trips to CO, Ark, and Fl, I'm happier than when I bought it in April 2014. I do see a bigger RV in the future however.
+Techommentary Yea, the economy is pretty bad, all the big three are giving 12K off. I saw Ford advertising 14K the other day. Off course we are talking about a 60K plus truck.
Even though I’m enjoying my garage kept 2014 gas Silverado, I’m thinking of getting one of these Ram diesels in 2020 after I pay off the wife’s new RAV 4. Until then, I’ll just sit in your passenger seat vicariously to listen to that engine and mess with the buttons....lol. I wonder if you can get that 12k off if you ordered the truck from the dealer.
It's doing great. Miles per gallon running empty is 24 or so. I love it. I've pulled my TT all over the US in the last gear and we are only getting started. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jVqPfI6iIxU.html
dodge stopped making trucks in 2009 and ran set apart from dodge. since then the last truck with a DODGE name on one was 2012 and it was right above the media centre where that RAM name is. before that the last one had it in the ram's head badge on the tailgate
Ouch, you really know how to make an old man feel good about his new truck. I guess if it last 5 years it won't matter, I'll doubt I'll make 5 more years. Wish I could get an extended warranty on myself..
Agree. If other countries lived by the same standards, it may be different but non of them do. We can't compete, thus everything is now made in China or some other place but the US.
Henry Mccullough Yea, the transmission has always been RAM's weak point. My last RAM was a 95 with the Cummins. I got the 5 speed manual transmission because of the poor reputation of the auto's. That was a great truck. Ugly but dependable and I get 13 - 15 mpg towing the small weight I'm pulling now. If I get 12 -13 with the 2014, I'm lucky. I get better milage empty with the 2014. About 23-24.
I heard 12k off on the radio. Went over to look at the trucks and found one I liked. I told them I'd give them 12k off sticker and they said if you'll buy it today we got a deal. I've heard Ford and Chevy advertise this from time to time. It's a buyer's market, whichever truck you choose, I think you'll get 12K off. Low ball them and see what happens. The MFG's are subsidizing the dealers to move these trucks. It's a very good time for buying a truck.
its a very bad time to be broke then XD and year fords truck month is in january here in nj :D hopefully i can get a job thats good enough to make payments on one im 18 i know its probably stupid to buy a new truck..but since the last 2 hurricanes people are fixing up flooded out trucks and they only last a year then they are 100% dead.. i currently have a 05 f250 gasser. shes turning 10 soon about time to trade in before they only give me like 2k for it
me2456 Sorry to hear your bad luck with being broke and all. I went thru that when I was young. RAM's 2500 Hemi is way less than the diesel and awesome. I hope you find a good job and you can get that new truck. I bought used cars until I could afford to get a new one. I'm not good at picking up a good used bargain. Some people have that ability, I don't. Hang in there and don't give up, you'll make it.
If that trailer was truly 4 to 5,000 pounds then trust me that silverado could have handled it I have towed that with mine no problem at all , have fun with that pos mopar
dmay950 The problem with the Chevy was the 3.42 rear axle. Otherwise it would have been fine. I had to pull in 4th gear to keep from downshift at every little overpass etc... In 4th I had a lot of transmission heat also. I was afraid I'd tear up that beautiful LTZ. The RAM also allows me to upgrade to a larger trailer if I desire.
That's a load of crap when Chevy can't haul a trailer of that weight. Lets face it, you never really started out with a Chevy did you. You're also scrolling through your stuff, which you said you wouldn't have too. I prefer a Bose system. Your video doesn't convince me to switch. Chevy has hands free. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Ram fan. Why didn't they make the eco diesel sound like your 2500? I actually like the diesel sound. I don't agree with you on the part when you said in this economy, most dealers will give you $12k off of the MSRP. I'm 35, and I've had 20 vehicles since I was 16. I've never heard, or seen that. These days, the most I've seen is $8k but that's with leasing, rebates, and so on.. I agree with Chris Driscoll. Looks like if you did have a Chevy, it wasn't a diesel was it? So how could you compare a 5.3L gas engine to a diesel? you can't. That's why Chris comment makes sense. If you compare, make sure that you're comparing a chevy 2500 diesel to a Ram 2500 diesel both of the same year or your video makes no sense.
Nrfa My My video was not to convince anyone to switch, just an old man proud of his new truck. $12K off on a 60K truck is had everyday, I saw 14K on a Ford Diesel the other day. No, don't expect 12K on a $35K truck, that's ridiculous. I had a 2013 LTZ loaded 5.3L gas burner. I never would try to compare it with a diesel. There's no comparison. I'm not sure how you got that idea but apologize if I gave that impression. The Chevy was a beautiful truck and I loved it. (I didn't like the jumping back and forth between 4 and 8 cylinders and fuel mileage was horrible) With a 3.42 rear end, it just couldn't handle the load without downshifting at every overpass. I was afraid I'd tear up the tranny and it was just too uncomfortable to tow with. I had to run it in 4th gear and the transmission heat was high). Technically, the truck had a tow rating of about 9K but anybody that's every pulled RVs will tell you that's a joke. That might work with no wind on flat ground at 45-50 mph. Wind resistance is more of an issue with towing RV's than the actual weight. So I traded it for the RAM also knowing that I would be getting a bigger RV. I like the Duramax (my best friend has one) and have had GM products since my 53 chevy when I was 15, I'm 67 now. (I did have a 95 RAM diesel) I do have a big problem with the government bail out of GM now affectionately know now as Government Motors. They were forgiven of over 50 million that you and I are paying. But's that's a discussion for another day. BTW, Wow, 20 vehicles at 35 years old. Amazing, I haven't had half that many at 67 but I tend to roll them till the wheels fall off. ha.
Marion Blair this comment is really useful to expand on the video. I was also really confused why you were saying the Silverado was overloaded at 40% of its rated towing capacity, but this explains more.
Marion Blair Summer of 2015.. I had gotten vehicle 21. I went into dealership. Wanted specific things on my next truck & more. They said they have that, but scattered throughout different Silverado's on the lot. Then the asked if I've ever custom built a vehicle before? I said no. I was the very first to have my rim, tire and color of truck that I got to pick out. Now I just saw you can get that on the new 2016s, since they love what I designed so much. I still have people quite often asking if I'd be willing to sell my truck to them? 2016 Silverado's front ends sucks!! I've had a couple of Rams in my day. No one ever asked to buy either of them. They don't change much. I was with Mopar vehicles for a good 15 yrs b4 switching. Glad I did. Everyone has a choice of what they like.
Yea, I regret some of my comments as they sounded like I was trashing GM and I can understand the GM fans taking offense to that. If the Chevy would have had a 3.73 or 4.10, I'd probably still own it.
for gods sake guys, get little more creative, one after another cookie cutter "review monotone beefy tone about .....nothing. Skip, skip... till end. Nothing missed.
Thanks Homer, Send me the link to your video so I can learn the right way to do it. However, I appreciate the "monotone beefy tone" comment. At 67, I thought I'd sound more like grandpa Jones.
