Man if the ford and GM guys ever saw what Ram/Cumins exhaust and engine brakes really felt like they would never go back. I chose two trucks for my machine shop, best Japanese truck and best American truck. My 2019 Titan XD for the small gooseneck and my 2020 Ram 3500 for the higher tows. Honestly both great trucks but the rams low speed take off is amazing. But the comfort of not having to apply foot breaks just to coast to a red light amazes me every time. My Ram will stop a 14k load on exhaust and engine brake alone..
Exactly! They don’t know what exhaust braking is till they drive a ram. It’s a game changer for sure. I know my truck has about 220hp braking on exhaust alone. Amazing how it hold back the momentum with these loads really wondering when I’ll ever have to change my brakes
@@NavySturmGewehr it’s well worth it if you are towing anything over 8k. Under 8k a bumper pull is just fine. The XD has great rear leaf springs that handles bumper pull trailers just fine.
All the new trucks are great these days I have a 2021 f450 platinum breaking has never been an issue my terex 1056c weighs 31.2k has plenty of power i would like to upgrade to a diamond c trailer in the future tho other then that nice rig and video
Now you need a tow truck to tow with you truck. A tow truck being towed by a truck towing. Oh yes. Also dig the intro, and, it blows my mind how little you have to turn your brakes up with that kind of weight. My 12k dual drum trailer needs to be turned up pretty well when loaded heavy. Those disc brakes are the way to go. The exhaust brake on these rams is awesome.
Thanks man! Ya the trailer and the whole set up just works amazing as heck. Exhaust brake is a must! No other truck even comes close to it. I appreciate the support man 👊🏼
Really appreciate that. I do need to take more footage of my job sights have a big one I’m doing at the moment I’ll start getting some video of that For sure
@@IManOPERATOR I believe the 3500 has a higher tow rating than the 5500 but the payload is where the 5500 takes the win. That’s what it seems when you pull tow spec on both trucks.
@@easttexasengineering3489 it’s a win some loose some, 3500 is lighter no doubt 5500 is heavy as heck especially moment you get a flat bed on it if it’s not aluminum. Issue is hard to find a bed that’s 38k rated for towing Not sure how ram does their math cause more play load means more pin weight so you can technically tow more. But dam it’s a rough ride when you’re empty
Ya 2.5 was more then enough,! Every time in other yards loading what I load up I need to record some of the conversations I’ve had with tractor trailer guys asking me how does this set up even work towing that lol
Back the loaders on so you don't have the counterweight behind the trailer axles, which is likely why you noticed the rear break loose going down that decline.
I have a 2022 3500 ram. First 10k miles the tranny blew up. Left me stranded 2300 miles from home. Dodge fixed it. Believe it or not the factory installed the seal on a drum upside down. I have the pictures of it. Took them to court got 10k from them. I have 51k on it now so far its been a good truck. No other problems. And i pull heavy loads. But i would not buy another one. Next new truck is a pete. Haul whatever you want not scared. But u have a beautiful setup. Be safe man.
Dang I’m sorry to hear that! That’s a tough break, I can see that putting a bad taste in your mouth after dealing with something like that. Sadly you definitely got lucky on that kind of hassle. But you can’t go wrong with a Pete! Sadly anything can just about happen to anyone or anything you can only do so much to prevent a failure like that. But keep looking up keep getting it done out there, you do the same stay safe!
Whenever I’m pulling grades or just out of random I’ll say what all the temps are at, if you watch a few other videos when I’m in the mountains towing heavy I read them out as much as I can.
Great video bro. Question..when you “punch it” getting on the highway, are you floor boarding the go pedal or just easing it down enough to get to speed?
I never really Floor it floor it, always just give enough throttle till I see the boost max out and just leave it there. Motor is still under 100% load most likely but 1/2-3/4 throttle does everything I need every time
@@IManOPERATOR awesome. Thanks for responding. When we tug around our 18.5k fifth wheel I maybe will go 3/4 throttle but try not to exceed that. Some people say they bury it in the floor towing all the time and never ever have issues. I don’t think I’m that lucky. I’ve gone up grades before and held it to the floor to maintain speed but not to get up to speed. Thanks again and stay safe
Oh for sure, even if you floor it when under that load truck won’t change a thing, you can’t really hurt it, if it sees egt, oil, coolant or anything like that begin to get out of range it will begin to derate engine power to keep itself safe its a pretty good fail safe system, biggest change I’ve seen is when accelerating not being floored let’s the truck shift just a bit sooner using the torque that it has instead of HP but it keeps every shift in the 1800-2000rpm with every up shift keeping it in its max toque band every time
Been through any head gaskets yet? In my experience the exhaust break and Asin trans are awesome but the 6.7 Cummins (even when studded )seems to smoke head gaskets between #5 and 6 cylinder when only daily towing my mini X on a 16ft dump trailer.
Haven’t smoked anything, she just trucks along. Highest temp on the engine yet pulling grades I think was 227 then clutch kicks in and she drops to the 210-215 in 30 seconds She’s a beast
Question so did you hook up your safety swing arm pin?? I also hail heavy equipment. I know a lot of people don't do it it's just one that I've always done especially with the loaders. Also I can't believe they're developing in that little town finally it's been the same for years.
I never have put in the swing pin before. Only done that when hoisting the machine with a crane. Towing never had a the loader bleed out or shift per say. And ya this property is a development of just one property owner and 3 structures Big big job for a private property Excvation
@@IManOPERATOR I always put the swing pin lock on but I'm also Holland the John Deere 644k with the five yard buckets and that always puts me over size. But also I run half inch chains. And I know if I'm going to be going through any scales I'll usually put in two more safety chains running along the side of the machine.
@@5150cash that’s definitely a good habit I don’t mind playing it safer then I need to. Why I always throw two more over the bucket I know you have to regardless. Having the pin in is a good safety for sure. Ya all my chains are 3/8 Have one 1/2 grade 140 lol $400 length of chain never needed it yet
Thank you! It weighs about 8500 lbs you can get more information from this video if you want to, BOUGHT A NEW DIAMOND C FMAX216! Vbelt and son tagging along
NICE!! I just got a 2016 Ram 3500 and Im looking to start hot shot trucking in a few. DO you know anyone or anywhere I can get a trailer similar to that for around 10K?
Sorry man. This right now is a $40-50k trailer 10k will get you a 9k lbs ball trailer these days. Best save up at least 20-25k if you want a decent gooseneck
Pro trip- if you live in a state where there is salt all of the roads in the winter, BUY A GALVANISED TRAILER because normal painted steel rust out so fast.
How was the center of gravity when hauling the 920? I’ve been thinking of getting a 926 and using my 312fmax to haul it. Not worried about weight at all, just the center of gravity being high....
With the 920 honest it didn’t feel top heavy to much. It was a new load so I still took it easy the water truck felt much worse. 920 I can haul all day for sure. I can see a 926 becoming an issue with its hight though be sure to check over all when on a trailer I’ve only seen those on low boys I’m sure it should be below 14’ feet though. Over all I shouldn’t see an issue with that haul, definitely a heavy girl for a 926 lol get it done man 💪🏼
@@IManOPERATOR thanks for the insight! It clocks in at 13’ 11” or less on the trailer. I still need to spend some time loading one on but good info, thank you.
I drive a 2020 T880 and it's the worst for rattles. Everything rattles, event the mounts for the exhaust. Paccar just isn't what they used to be, at least the cab isn't micro like the older stuff
Really everything is a disadvantage. Cause of a 23foot truck lol. It’s nice to have that heavier truck per say with the longer wheels base makes a smooth ride for sure. If you where to haul heavy every single day of the week and that’s it a long bed single cab 2wd truck is typically the way to go. Low truck weight makes for more weight to compromise with.
@@IManOPERATOR looking at new ram 3500s not sure if i should go 4wd or 2wd. Already have a srw 3500 mega but not looking to rack up the miles. Thanks for the input
Honestly you can never go wrong with 4x4 I swear I’ve used it more times then I thought I would for the dumbest reasons that if I had only 2wd I would have been screwed
Добрый день! Молодец очень хорошие видео, Я смотрю третий день очень нравится, дай бог вам здоровья крепкого, Я спросить хотел максимальный вес который вы перевозили сколько килограмм или тонн!
Good morning, thank you very much for the compliment. Happy you enjoy the videos. As of 2 weeks ago I’ve been towing the heaviest with my new machine being 26-27k lbs grossing 45k lbs (22.5-23 tons) combined weight. I do have a video just before this one towing that kind of weight.
@@user-lo5px7md8k of course, using the translation the best I can. It’s a heavy load but this truck and trailer goes a great Job doing the work. I’m not sure how Russian roads are however here in the states they can get very destroyed and make a hard ride. I’m always thankful for smooth tarmac
This might be a dumb question but I’m looking to get a truck and trailer like that so I can start delivering across the U.S as a job do I need to require a CDL
I'm thinking of getting into a hotshot with a f550 chassis and a diamond drop deck 53' but I'm still not sure what my truck would be able to handle with a trailer at 10k rated for 25500 and 12k dual axels, the truck is rated for 17500 gvwr and 14700 on the rear axle so I'm trying to get an idea how much is possible to put on the trailer legally? I'm thinking the truck is at about 7k alone because no crew cab and no bed. And it's a turbo diesel not gas.
Best way to go about is get the truck and trailer get it CAT scaled and see what you have left over for your GCWR But the numbers you give me youl have a 43k or higher registration on the truck And you should be able to have 25,500ish for payload You’ll outdo your trailer before you have enough tongue way to over load your truck.
@@alaefarmestatesllc well I have a 94 ram 2500 12valve that's my project truck and a 17 ram 1500 that's my daily driver. I tow with both of them when I need to but I haven't needed a Gooseneck in a long time
Scales aren’t that easy to come buy regardless around these towns, I would love to weigh things more often to show you guys but it’s well out of the way
How was the sway with the water truck? Seems like a pretty high center of gravity? I ask because the other day I hauled a 1980 ford 6700 tractor and it was top heavy. Kept me pretty uncomfortable while towing. I'm sure it's better with a modern truck either way. Thanks.
I felt to sway at all. Or did it feel top heavy. Of course I didn’t drive like I was empty however the whole load was stable and not odd feeling at all.
@@IManOPERATOR good to hear. With that tractor I was hauling, I could look under its frame at eye level. Machine on trailer and myself standing on the road. Figured that's why is would sway. It was top heavy.
At the time didn’t have anyone else with a class B license to drive it. But main reason why this water truck was a special use only technically not allowed to drive on the road with it unless it’s on site work
@@IManOPERATOR I wonder if a properly built 68 would survive. Been looking at trucks and finding a Aisin in a used truck has been pretty hard. Super hard to find a used manual 3500 dually in Texas too. Thanks for the response
@@keithwolfington7013 honestly I doubt it, not a low enough first gear on a 68 to survive heavy starts from a dead stop is what takes the toll on a trans over anything. I feel that would be the weakest link in a 68 system
$15000 fine from the county/city for dust pollution per offense or just rent out a truck for 4 grand for the month. Plus need water on site for compaction areas and building in general. It’s very serious to keep dust down and very important for dirt work
Already have my guys on the job. Would be easier for sure but towing would have been quicker And it’s on my way to the next dealer to puck up the wheel loader It’s a cluster but somehow it works
Ya I’m not sure I’ll be hauling that much weight anytime soon, that’s a bit excessive. Definitely will have a 3” ball here soon for the heavier loads down the road.

Diamond c great trailer 👎 hydraulics too slow and switch in box is annoying. Loadtrail awful quality trailer but KTI 4 valve pump is super fast on dove plus 4 button remote for hydraulic legs.
Never really worried about the speed, it’s much quicker then hand cranking or throwing down ramps. Most of the productivity lost is chaining up and down. Anything that makes life easier is worth it to me. Not sure how the 4 valve pump is quicker when they put down the same GPM and same PSI might be smaller hydros on the load trail allowing for quicker movement
@@IManOPERATOR that's possible I'm curious on the diamond c lock system on the long term. I have 6 of these Load trash trailers and looking to change. I haul for wagner cat stores and others but don't do nearly the weight. I keep it at 15k anything larger goes on the landoll . Ima keep watching crazy to see that cp56 tho 🤞
The lock system is one of the best since it’s a cam over design nothing rests on the hydros when the tail is up, only on its own frame definitely being much longer lasting design and less chance of anything to fail since the tail has to go up before it can even go back down
@@IManOPERATOR yeah load trash is a flimsy welded pin. I spec mine with 12k disc. What are yours 16k disc? And what's the cost on diamond c fully loaded ? I think my closest dealer is kansas or Nebraska? Will they sell factory direct I wonder
@@STEVEN-hv7ds ya dc had a solid system that’s why you can lift and support 10k lbs on the dove and ya they are 16k axles on this girl cost on these I’m not to sure. Ford an gm suck the interiors suck there exhaust brakes suck my company only uses ram we actually want to get to work lol. we do delete all our trucks right away as we want the best for our motors!!!
This truck was about 22-23k or so, I’m sure if that tractor had a wind deflector you’ll be over height. Have the truck measurements and add that to you trailer deck don’t be over the 13’6” mark
