In this video I share my thoughts on the recent layoff of almost 200 workers at the Ram 1500 assembly plant in Sterling Heights and how this affects us when we're buying Ram, Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler products this year.

They need to start listening to consumers and stop producing oversized luxury trucks…and return to trucks designed for ACTUAL utility. Build solid, reliable trucks minus the fuss and aim for a reasonable price point. If they were willing to make smaller margins on much larger volume, they’d arguably be better off than having MASSES OF $80K,$90K, $100k+ trucks sitting on the lots gathering dust.

Stellantis is doing everything that it can to destroy what used to be Chrysler. No one will want to buy a Ram truck with the Hurricane engine. I had a wagoneer with the Hurricane and I had nothing but problems with it. My wagoneer had engine issues from the first day. The oil sensor went out and Stellantis refused to replace the sensor. Instead, they said they would reprogram the computer and when they did that, they basically shut off every sensor in the wagoneer. And to top it all off, I found out that there is NO OIL DIP STICK to check the oil. So, when the computer says your low in oil, how can you check it to determine how much oil to add?

One thing to realize is that the severance packages are generally not for the blue collar, union, factory workers. These severances are only offered to management and clerical workers. The reason why many of the factory workers won't quit is because many are vested employees, hired before 2007 who would still qualify to recieve a pension if they can stick it out until they qualify for retirement. I am personally in that boat. I will have 29 years next month and I am hoping to get to 30 years where I would then qualify for a full pension. God willing I should make it, but for the managers or the white collar, non-union, salary people then yes, your advice is spot on.

From 2008 until I finally retired, that fear of being laid off due to paper outsourcing printing/inserting always was a looming presence for all of us. For me, it was the severance package plus my age that kept me hostage. Ironically, a year after I retired, the company chose to shut production plant and outsource printing and inserting. How is redlining first gear saving my truck when it was a blown fuse for my heated seats? I would fear buying a Ram because of reliability and with all the layoffs and people wondering when they are next, I don't see very happy employees which can lead to poor employee performance which will lead to even WORSE reliability than they already are. This suit is won will have a direct impact on every manufacturing company in the world. While the honey badger RV life is not for kids due to his language he does cover a lot of things that also can be crossed over to the car industry. All started with Daimler. Dr Z and his cronies ruined Chrysler instead of helping them as they portrayed they would, then punted us to a capital management company (what does a finance company know about anything other than managing debt?), then we get picked up by the joke of all car companies (Fiat) and now we have the worst conglomeration in all of the auto industry. I'm bitter because I have two old Dodges from a bygone era when Chrysler was known as The Engineering Company. I resented the Daimler merger and blame it to this day despite Chrysler management having put the company into a position where it had to be picked up by another manufacturer to survive. Sometimes I just wish they went the way of Studebaker.
