Flake once described what it's like to sit in the pot. He said that the fire used up all the oxygen and he couldn't get any air even though he was breathing in. During the rehearsal for the concert, he once burned his fingers on the edge of the pot. He had not considered that Till attacked the pot much more often with the flamethrower than during the performance.
Meiwes posted an ad looking for a willing volunteer on the then-active website The Cannibal Cafe. Meiwes's advertisement stated that he was "looking for a normally-built 18- to 25-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed." Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes, a 43-year-old engineer from Berlin, answered the advertisement in March 2001. Many other people responded to the ad but then backed out. Meiwes did not attempt to force them to do anything against their will. Brandes did not back out he was a willing participant in him getting eaten and butchered.
Therefore Rammstein is the best live band in the world. By the way Flake the keyboarder once explained that it's not the fire of the flamethrowers that are dangerous for him, but the lack of oxygen and the hot combustion gases for his lungs. He always has to hold his breath every time Till shoots the Flamethrower, otherwise he'll burn his lungs when he inhales and won't get any oxygen either. In addition, he sometimes burns his hands on the pot, which starts to glow due to the flamethrowers.
The over the top theatralics Till and Flake are doing in this live version are really something, man. Its theme is *super* dark of course, but it's a real crowdpleaser nonetheless. Oh and you should see the more recent live versions (the 2019/ 2022 ones respectively), Till has something... special in mind after that second flamethrower 😂
In Germany, we had one, Armin Meiwes, who looked for and found one for dinner by advertisement. He also ate his 'part'. Life imprisonment. The song for it. very creepy
Something Flake said once, in the Ich Tu Dir Weh making of, was “I’ve known Till for a good long while, so he looks after me to make sure nothing happens.”
The dude's name was Armin Meiwes. I have been deep down that rabbit hole, and I actually recommend digging through it. It's disturbing, yet extremely interesting
I think the reason I don’t find it that disturbing is because the victim actually volunteered for it. So… as long as he was a willing adult it’s on his head.
Till, often describes a story from the "main actor´s" point of view. Somestimes it comes across as weird or misunderstood. And that is exactly the point, that some people can´t see the deadly irony in his lyrics and show. Ok it is a little bit badass. ;-) And that is so cool (or hot) 🙂

Rewatching this reaction. It occurred to me. He's joking around yes, but he's also speaking about the complexity of men as well. Like we want things that only look good. our clothes have to "look good" our cars/trucks have to look good, our homes too. Only one thing missing in this equation, a good looking woman with a nice pair. And said man is happy in life.

My favourite live performance of Mein Teil. The more recent are bigger but this one was always great for the theatrics and shock value. The case was a curious one but cannibalism isn't as rare as people may believe. Been a few cases here in the UK over the past few years. With hindsight, lots of red flags in Meiwes' background but hindsight is always such a wonderful thing. He tried to she Rammstein over Mein Teil but didn't succeed. As far as I recall, he was up for parole recently but I'm not aware that it was granted. He's become a vegetarian since being incarcerated. Strange fellow indeed. The song is about Armin Meiwes, he‘s a Cannibal from Germany. He ate parts of a living human (that human agreed him to do that/ it was his wish that he got eaten alive) and later someone found out and the cops arrested him
Just fyi: they have made songs about incest or cannibalism - as I said reality is way worse! This s**t happens everyday.
