Love the candidness of this stuff! If I had a time machine, never mind righting all the wrongs in history. All I would want to do is go back to the days of CBGBs and hang out with all those artists! That is my idea of Heaven.
Dee Dee, Joey, Johnny were the stars to me, especially Dee Dee. Tommy I didnt know much about and didnt think a lot about him. But more and more I think Tommy is my favorite Ramone. He was also born in Hungary, technically an immigrant to the US.
i dunno, in a way, Tommy was the essential catalyst, 'cause he'd been telling Johnny to start a band and Johnny would just dismiss this (this is from the movie)....so of course, when he did want to, who does he go to - Tommy of course, 'cause he was the guy that planted the idea's seed...plus he clearly had a lotta insight about the kinda drums the band would need, which I think was essential...so I think Tommy was almost as important as the others.. plus he's a really nice-seeming guy :)
In Johnny's book "Commando" he lists each Ramones album and lista his favorite songs off each one and grades each album. If you like I will list them for you but you gotta reply so i know you'll get it.
@shashwati: Excellent point, shashwati. I don't claim to be an expert on them but I thought I read somewhere that Tommy had is foot in the door working in some of the top studios in the city for alot of top producers. He had excellent contacts as well as engineering and producing ambitions. Those qualities alone made him indespensible.
Talk about the Ramones, I never heard about them until I seen this video of Chris and Debbie talking about them way back in October of 2012. I heard a few of the Ramones songs. The Ramones is not my cup of tea. Too wild. I did hear Joey speak a few words about Chris and Debbie, other than that, I think Joey would make a great neighbor, quiet and personable. Also I did hear Johnny speak and sounded like he was on top of the game in his band. Johnny reminds me of Howard Stern, his looks or voice or just a combination of the both.
does anyone have the video where johnny is reviewing each cd by them, which he liked and which ones he didnt? i remember seeing it but cant find it anywhere i know its fromthis dvd
I wouldn't call them cats...cool maybe...interesting bits of film anyhow. I like the TOMMY trip down memory lane at the beginning. I could almost smell the glue
the STAR of Ramons was joey, he was the perfect front man. thanks to tommy , because dee dee was a good musician , but sorry. he didn't sing... not at all.
