@@jasonshih3633 If New York Dolls are "punk rock", then I'm Dwayne Johnson. They were a huge influence for The Ramones, and their attitude was kinda punk, but they weren't punk rock. Maybe what they called them "proto punk", or glam rock.

@@DeeckyRizzo NY Dolls were ahead of their time. There was no term for "punk" at that time, and since they dressed weird, no one took them seriously, but when Ramones became big, punk emerged. Protopunk would be more like Velvet Underground and The Stooges.

I first saw The Ramones at CBGBs in 1977. In 1978 I took my wife to see them at the Palladium on 14th Street. I was dressed head to toe in black leather and she in brown leather. The energy was incredible. I've never experienced anything like it before or since. For years I would often see Joey in the punk clothing store beneath my apartment at 5 Saint Marks Place and at the bar at Paul's Lounge round the corner, chatting with Paul. I never saw any of the other members of the band with him. If I had had any idea of how alienated and alone he was I would have tried to talk to him.

the first Ramones album I bought was this album. Not that I didn't know about their other records, it's just that they were almost impossible to find in 1982. No record stores carried them. I think it's an underrated masterpiece. they really did some exploration in their song writing and music production.

I heard them for the first time when I was about 15 years old and I was stupid when I felt that bottle inside me, I am from Mexico City, and I did not speak English but I did not need to understand what they said because their music, guitar, bass, drums and that energy that only they were capable of transmitting in all their roles, their music is UNIVERSAL, it speaks all the languages that exist, today at my 51 years of age in 2021 I continue to listen to them and feel what I felt in my adolescence, LIVE FOREVER THE RAMONES ! RIP, THEY WILL NEVER DIE TO US

Even johnny knew these albums sucked, 'century' for the crappy production value and 'pleasant dreams' for lack of quality songs AND production value. Pleasant dreams is really weak. So is mondo bizarro....probably add halfway to sanity and adios amigos to that list. However even the least good albums still had a few great songs in them. Their overall career, their many GOOD songs and their impact is what we all probably agree matters most.
