Install Instructions and getting one of the most popular setups for the Chevy Silverado's on Jeff's 2020 Silverado 1500 Z71 RST! We did this strictly out of customer and your guys requests, it was hard to remove the Bilstein 5100 setup, which provided a tremendous upgrade to the factory ride. Here's the blog post about the Bilstein -
www.shocksurplus.com/blogs/ne...
The basics of this Quicklift setup
- 2" of lift out of the box, no other modification required. There is no height adjustment.
- 9 clicks of adjustment between really soft or really firm response. This makes a difference when changing terrains or carrying loads or towing.

I'm looking into 6112 in front and 5160 in rear with Bilstein UCA. It looked like he has sumo springs in rear. I have sumo springs in the rear and it changed up rear a lot. Especially with my quad in bed. Any chances after Fox's you'll switch to 6112 & 5160's? I tow, daily & off road with my truck. But maybe 5 times out of year would be offroad and tow.

We are planning to do Eibach next. We have done tons of 6112/5100/5160 so that is still up in the air. But eventually we want to do all the 2.5 series as well.

How was the rancho quick lift compared to the bilstein? Going on a 2016 Silverado that tows more than it goes off-road but definitely want to keep that 2" level on it.

Despite being convenient as a fully loaded strut, they don't seem adequate in any sense and are not where near in the same league as Bilstein. We remove the factory Rancho off this Silverado and through on The QL. They were marginally firmer but still way too softer regardless of how we set it up. Bilstein 5100, 6112, and Eibach Pro Truck are all much better suspensions.

Do the UCA's on these trucks not have alignment plates/pins? Did i miss something? How would they get aligned?
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus Год назад
They have some but very limited to how much they can do. Going with an after market UCA provides clearance and correction and in some cases further camber and caster adjustment.

When we ran the Bilstein 5100, we did not upgrade the UCA. Once we we did the Rancho Quicklifts and RS9000XL, we did upgrade the UCA. It wasn't an really an alignment concern but the stock UCA were pretty much maxed out so upgrading the UCA get us better articulation. One additional note, some 2.5 series will require you to upgrade the UCA because of the larger suspension running into clearance concerns.

I bought a set ranchos front struts leveling kit, and the ride quality is bad, it doesn’t matter if I put it on the 9 or the 1 setting it still rides really rough. What do you recommend.
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus Год назад
The adjustment on Rancho parts are very minimal and not drastic. We personally don't run any of their kits on any of our vehicles any longer.

What would yall recommend on a 2013 f150 regular cab 2wd?? Its pretty light but id want a soft ride. I have new oem struts.. but they are super stiff, hardly compress even though they are the same as my old struts, just newer. No towing or anything. Just a small town daily driver.
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 9 месяцев назад
As far as stock replacements go, you will be hard pressed finding anything softer than stock, however even though a touch firmer many of our customers see lots of improvement in ride from a Bilstein 4600s. Otherwise if you do not mind the front coming up 2" the Fox 2.0s are pretty plush.

Jeff stated they rode fine for daily use but they were a bit too soft for his needs. He had these adjusted to the highest setting on bot the front and rear.

I’ve installed my Rancho 2” quick lift to level my truck but im shorter on the rear. I see he has a Z71 package which usually brings a bigger rear block compared to non upgraded stock suspension. How big of a rear block would I need to level my truck like this Silverado? I think my rear block is 1.25 inches.
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 9 месяцев назад
Measure the distance from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel opening front and rear. Subtract those two lengths, and that will let you know how much more lift you need in the rear.

How would you guys compare these to the rough country N3?
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 8 месяцев назад
If you want our honest answer we would not really recommend either to the average person, but we do think Rancho does a littler better job at tuning their parts for applications. RC is fairly infamous for using fairly generic valving on their shocks where as Rancho at least tries to get their parts a little more dialed in for each application. With that said you are better off looking at options from Bilstein, Eibach, or Fox for similar money. They are all built to a higher standard and will ride, handle, and generally perform a lot better than a Rancho or RC

Is it a must to cut off that UCA limiter ?
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 5 месяцев назад
Technically you do not have to but it will limit travel. That is not really a concern on something like these Ranchos, but if you are running an extended travel 2.5 coilover like a Fox or King for 3" of lift or more, or a Trail Boss or AT4 spec option like Bilstein offers in their 6112 line you will definitely feel those limit travel before the coilover or struts can fully extend or give you all the travel they offer
@neilyakuza6595

Why would you replace the Bilsteins with Rancho???
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus Год назад
For us, neither the factory Rancho nor the Rancho Quick lift and RS9000XL held up to our needs. We are using the Silverado as a daily driver, a towing vehicle, and some light trail usage. Bilstein held up better for most aspects and Fox definitely helped out more on the trails. We are testing various products and various vehicles to see how they perform based on our needs.

@@ShockSurplus So I have the Rancho quick lift leveling kit for my ‘24 Silverado Z71 LTZ with the 3.0L diesel going on in a few days. What setting should I run for daily driving? Will I need to set it slightly harder to account for the weight of the diesel, or is it just a put it on and test it in all 9 settings to see what runs best? (I’m figuring I’ll need to set it at 4-6, but I’m not quite sure)

Is it the same for 2023 gmc at4?
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 8 месяцев назад
Install is the same, but we only did this install for testing purposes only. We have a hard time justifying replacing the lack luster stock Ranchos for more Ranchos. Plus if you are planning to go any higher than stock AT4 height, Rancho is definitely not your brand.

@@ShockSurplus I'm all ears 👂🏿👂🏿 fox 2.0s?
@ShockSurplus
@ShockSurplus 8 месяцев назад
Those are a good choice but are tapped out at stock height just like a Rancho and do need a fair amount of service. If you were considering 2.0s, Bilstein has a set of 6112s and 5100 or 5160 rear shocks that are a similar price, last twice as long before needing to be rebuilt or replaced, and can be adjusted from stock AT4 or Trail Boss height to up to 1.2" of lift in the front. So even if you are planning to keep it stock height, it will still work better than the Ranchos or Fox as they will not be maxed on on adjustment.

That plastic bracket is only covering 2 bolts. Mine have square holes in it big enough for the strut stud to stick thru but not the nut: i was able to get at those holes from underneath with a drill bit and reamed out the holes big enough to drop an 18mm socket through from the top so i was able to still use the impact gun.

How did you get at the rear nut? With the two bolts from the strut in the way and having a hell of a time trying to get out that rear nut.

@@bobbaldwin8369on the pass side i went down from the top. You have to pop off the wire loom thing then used a deep 18mm. Pretty sure i was able to fit my m12 gun in there. I might be dreaming that tho idk. On the other side i was able to get at all 3 with a ratcheting wrench from the wheel well.
@shawn59fifty
@shawn59fifty 2 месяца назад
@@bobbaldwin8369if you have the other 2 off put one on snug tight. You might be fighting the weight of the strut and whatever pressure it’s under. Once i broke tightness i was able to pretty much spin those off by hand.
