Toyota, Ford and GM use these and they specify the bushing material, paint or powder coat and the valving package. In 2024 they have a red bushing that makes me think they are using polyurethane in the eyelets now. Springs do settle but powder coat does not flake like that. The water and rust behind the valve is the price we pay for snow or high water on roads. I would use dielectric grease as it is easy to get at home improvement stores in automotive. Part store charge 2X as much to pay for the lights & expenses. Silicone grease is harder to find but very useful as when rubbed onto door weather strips, leaving a film behind, rehydrates the rubber and keeps door from sticking in freezing weather. It is in GM owners manuals. Also, marine lubricants are the same as vehicle lubes but with a reactive chemical package that changes colors when water is mixed. Over the counter shocks have a lifetime warranty... ASE Master since 78.

Thanks for the video, appreciate the insight as I am looking to put these on a Chevy 2500 HD. The bushing issue gives me some concerns.

Is this wear from off-roading? or did you mostly drive highway miles?

Yeah man! Installed mine spring of 2022 and now it's March 2023 and the bushings of my front and lower shock mounts, FRONT and BACK are squished to one side and partially blowin out already...... where's the customer service and help for this trash quality??!

Had these on my Armada since 2015 and now for my Tundra. I hit them with clear coat spray to slow the rust. They ride better than my trd bilsteins.

Interesting about the adjusters. i have rancho 9000's on my Ram 3500 4x4 dually. I have never adjusted the adjusters. I did buy another rear Rancho shock on clearance. Is there any chance the piston adjuster inside the shock can fall out of the shock when greasing a new one or n old one?
@NNKH2
@NNKH2 3 года назад
No it has a clip that holds it in. Unless of course that clip was rusted to bits maybe.
@scottdowney4318

@@NNKH2 good, I will definitely check mine. Rear has easy access, but the front sit inside the front spring and have to be taken out, I think. I will just use CRC marine grease. It is pretty thick. Although packing the cavity I wont do, if the piston cant displace all the grease, it wont be able to move back.

I have the same issue. do you have to compress the spring to remove the front, or do they just un bolt

Great info on 30k as I am thinking about these exact shocks for my 2003 F350 Diesel Truck. I live in San Diego so thinking they wouldn't get so rusty and beat up with our dry weather. Putting grease in the adjusters is a great idea and it's crazy the factory didn't even put anything in there. Question, how is your ride comfort compared to your OEM shocks?
@NNKH2
@NNKH2 11 месяцев назад
They ride a little harder compared to OEM shocks

Hard to beat factory Toyota shocks

@@NNKH2 Good to know. My F350 already has Rancho shocks (older model?) when I bought my truck. I normally only use it to pull my Toy hauler on camping trips, which is around 16k loaded. I had to daily it for the past couple months while fixing my Prius and the ride was tolerable but not very comfortable. Thanks for the input on stock shocks.

It's getting harder and harder to find quality aftermarket parts. I'm in the process of replacing front struts and upper strut bearings on my daughters car. Going with Bilstein struts and bearings. 30,000 mi (48,000km) is poor.
@NNKH2
@NNKH2 3 года назад
Yeah man it's true. A lot of junk in the aftermarket. I should have went with bilstein's, but I liked the lifetime warranty on these ranchos. However what good is that if I have to replace them every 30k. Lol. Bilstein's definitely better

How does rancho warranty work on these
@NNKH2

I just brought them back to AutoZone where I bought them and they warrantied them out for me. They actually had the best price on them when I got them. Even cheaper than online

@@NNKH2 oh nice I used to work there so they are good on warranty. I bought my front set and rear set at 2 different truck stores. Guess I got call and find out how it works

No. Definitely some salt yeah. But still, the factory ones never did anything like that and they had 20 times the mileage on them

Hmm i would say you drove your truck to hard and you forgotten to spray these things with wd 40 garbage chain grease... i always plaster under carage parts with a heavy dose of that stuff to keep them from rusting.

I have these shocks on 3 vehicles. F-350 SD, 4 runner, and jeep tj. They work best on my f-350, maybe the weight. Jeep suck and 4 runner are just ok. And yes, i adjusted numerous times to find best ride. Bushings are junk. In conclusion not satisfied and will not buy again.

With high contents of salt anything is bound to rust.. seems to be 30k highway miles...if there's just a bushing problem..off roading would've had you with bust seal.. way before the 10k period.

Well then that should tell you about the inconsistencies in quality that the Ranchos have..
