Random commercials from the 1970's 

I grew up in the 70s, with commercials like this, and this only goes to show you how much better TV commercials are today than they were then.

I can only imagine how much fun it was to be alive in the 70's

All my life I thought "hilarious" meant "funny". Guess I was wrong.

I love the 70s...These rocked! So retro!

A few observations: 1) For years, the music from that "Lip Quenchers" jingle has been lying around inside my head, but I could never recall the product! Another mystery solved. 2) I wonder how many takes it took to get that Delk transmission ad just right. That spinning transmission looked tricky. 3) I liked the "Esso" gas station sign in the a/c commercial.

Thanks for these local NY/NJ commercials! So cool to see them again.

I remember the Lip Quencher commercial starring Maud Adams with the water dripping on her! Wow! What torment she put me through in my early teens. And $6.95 to service your transmission? How times have changed!

It's funny how I enjoy watching old commercials that I used to avoid back in the day.

Its amazing how drasticlly commercials have changed, but stayed the same as well.

OMG I couldn't stop laughing the whole way through. These are the most fuckin hilarious commercials ever. I invited a bunch of friends over and we just laughed and pissed ourselves to death.

The Lip Quencher commercial actress is Shelley Smith, not to be confused with the ESPN reporter. Smith retired from acting in the 80's. She was in a short-lived sitcom called "The Associates" with Martin Short in the 70's about young associates in a law firm.

I was laughing so hard on the floor with the Lupus commercial. Woo woo, good stuff.

I love how they talk about these things being so great and I've never heard of any of them. xD Of course, this was 40 years ago.

I like how they direct you to specific New Jersey-based stores for the gas grill. I'm from that area and didn't know that Ramsey Outdoor Stores even existed way back then (they're still around today).

Wow. I remember that lip quencher stuff. We used to "borrow" it from My Mom. I also remember what a pain in the ass it was to remove it from the packaging.

My mother let me have her "Snowflurry Pink" Lip Quencher lipstick when I was about 13. That was GREAT lipstick. I wish I could still buy it.

Sometimes we chuckled at the Lip Quencher commercial when I was little -- we would go around the house pursing our lips saying "Wet your whistle." But the other commercials aren't funny at all.

I actually remember that Lip Quencher ad, but it took me 40 years to realize it was set to the tune of Moon River... WTF. I wonder if they had to pay Henry Mancini royalties.

Telephone digitization at work. Air-Wave used "933" for their phone number in the ad, then showed its trucks with "WE3"

When I was a kid and saw this commercial, I just HAD to have it. So my mom actually bought me one (just for play, of course). It smelled really weird, I remember. But definitely was very moist.

I must have a fucked-up sense of humor, because only one of these commercials **ALMOST** mildly humored me.

Damb im old I remember the lip quencher commercial, I was in love with that women back then!

Back in the 70's I had my transmission serviced at a certified GoodYear service center. They were supposed to remove the pan and clean it, replace any typical filters and close it up with new gaskets plus a refill of fluids. Well they came and told me there was a lot of sediment in the pan and I should buy one of their replacement transmissions because mine wasn't going to last much longer. Well I got home and looked under the car and transmission fluid was poring out. I jacked it up and found several bolts on one end of the pan were completely loose. Must have been an accident.
