Sister was nice. She's the older sister, she has helped this kid grow up. And she may be talkative but she's polite and jolly. The bride on the other hand is not even kind enough to look at the dresses that her own mother and sister has pulled out, let alone try it on. That's just blatantly rude. Why bring them along if you don't want their opinion? This marriage is set up for failure.

Then don’t bring them. I agree that sometimes they might push the wrong buttons but there are also occasions where the bride has terrible taste and she can’t rely on the consultant because they want to sell a dress.

If a bride doesn't want opinions & input, she should shop alone. It should be expected that if a bride brings an entourage, they are going to have something to say & the bride brought them cause she wanted their input. The key is not to bring any more than 3 ppl because then opinions become too overwhelming & muddy. I took my mom & sister w me when I went wedding dress shopping & I was thankful to have their input. *The key is to give constructive input. Explain why you don't like the dress, i.e.: the dress smashes your breast down instead of lifts them up; this hemming between the bodice & skirt doesn't flow; the drop waist hits you in a spot that makes you look shorter than you are. *I was clear w my mom & sister the style of dress I wanted & they stayed w in the confines of it & didn't try to stear me into another style, but then was able to give me input on all the dresses I did try on. In the end, we all loved the dress I picked because it fit exactly what I was looking for.

That is true and only applies to true family/parents but sadly not all families and parents are loving. Many just want to screw their children and family members over at every chance they get.

I remember one. ‘Friend’ didn’t like the dress the bride loved. Bride: ‘fake it!’

What struck me was how crimson the bride blushed when she finally did it. It didn't seem at all as though she was flushed with anger. It was more like she was delighted with how she looked, loved the way she felt, and was proud of how she stood up to Dr. Sister. I wonder how Dr. Sister felt when the show aired -- whether she felt she had been edited to look like a snot, or if she had the wisdom to recognize and correct her snottiness.

The sister has been bullying her (with a smile, of course) for her entire life.

She came in knowing what kind of style she wanted. If others had objections, the time to voice them would've been before they got there. Once she's trying on dresses, enjoy the ride - and keep all criticism, if you have any, constructive. Personally, I can't stand it when a family member says, "This isn't the kind of dress I imagined on her." What does your imagination have to do with what the bride likes?

See for me I didn’t think that was super weird but where I work we are a big family and I would absolutely invite my boss wedding dress shopping. He’s like a father figure to me.

Of course. 21 year old already has a toddler and daddy is crying because her “little girl” who’s already a mum is getting married.

It does but unfortunately the bride has not overgrown her teenage rebellious years and she’s almost 30 years old. 😮

It cracked me up to hear her call him "Daddy." I'm 67, and I still call my dear 91-year-old Southern daddy "Daddy." And Daddy refers to his own daddy as Daddy.

Sister took perverse pleasure in pushing her to that point. Why do brides ask families like this to shop for dresses with them?

Me too. I actually went by myself to choose my dress and then showed it to my bridesmaids on the day of my wedding. That way it was 100% all my decisions and nobody could interfere with what I imagined I wanted to look like. I can't believe how some families treat brides when choosing something so important and special.

I got married right out of College. My parents did EVERYTHING for my wedding. I Knew it was about them. My mother even bought my wedding dress. It cost 99$ and a perfect fit off the rack. My mother's dress was 600$. It was a beautiful day and a lovely wedding. They really enjoyed myself. And it made them so happy. I really appreciated it. I was a Science and Math major so I was too busy to plan.
