It’s a very risqué song where Amitabh is taunting Rekha’s husband sanjeev publicly. Lyrics say- food was cooked for husband but was eaten by her lover, bed was made for her husband but used by her lover , so on and so forth, making it clear to their married partner about how things stood . That’s why they looked on seriously.
Sad that you guys haven't seen Sanjeev Kumar much. One of the gems of Indian cinema. You should try watching Koshish with him and Jaya Bachchan. A classic.
@@ImperiousKing yes but koshish is a masterpiece and nothing like Sholay which is a action movie…Koshish is a must watch movie by Gulzar. Sanjeev kumar won national award for best actor and Gulzar for best screenplay.

Here's the thing, performance wise, Big B rarely fails! I would highly recommend "Silsila", it just shows how good everyone was in the film! Now, say what you may of the film, but Big B's performance was just out of bounds in "Baghban"! So, Rick and korbin, get to Baghban! I highly highly recommend that film! You'll learn a lot regarding the traditional Indian ethos regarding Parent-Children relationship through that film! Guys like the comment so that they can get this comment!

when harivansh rai bachchan was askd to write the lyrics he took the lyrics frm a very famous Meera bhajan ( a 15 century saint and poet) and the music composers Shiv Hari composed it on a awadhi folk tune ... thats why the song has a awadhi dilect.. and the song has a teasing tone to it in which the lover is teasing the husband of the woman he loves... so in fun way he tells him that she decorated a dinner plate made of gold with all the traditional delicacies but instead of husband the lover ate frm that plate.. so thats the flavour of this beautiful song... and i have also read some where that Amitabhs house pratiksha always throws a grand holi party every year and its celebrated in the most traditional way... so this song was also shot in prateeksha... kinda not sure of this trivia though .

This was the last movie when Big B and Rekha acted together. Rekha and Big B had full blown affair from 1978 to 1982. Rekha admits openly that she LOVED Big B in every possible way. Big B however, keeps silence. If you were to ask any Hindi Cinema lover, they will tell you - Big B and Rekha should have been together as they would have made THE PERFECT COUPLE (as they say in Hindi - Ek Duje Ke Liye). But just like Shakespeare's love stories (Romeo - Juliet), their love story did not complete. When Jaya Bachchan (the lady getting upset in the song) and his farther (Mr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan) found out about their affair - gave an ultimatum to Big B - Leave Family or Leave Her! Big B - left HER and since 1982, Rekha and Big B has not acted together in one movie!!! So much so, that on events, parties, they don't cross paths nor see eye-to-eye with each other. It is sad, that Big B had an affair - but more sad is THE BEST COUPLE on silver screen was not and will never ever be COUPLE in real life! - However in my opinion, Late Rishi Kapoor and Nitu Singh were, are and will always be THE BEST COUPLE of Hindi Cinema!!! Big B and Rekha made a dream couple for sure - but Late Rishi Kapoor and Nitu Singh taught us how to be in love, how to romance, what it is like to be in love with someone.
