Mine are sometimes temperamental, but I suspect that lubricating them like this and keeping them clean is all they need.

My drivers was sticking and going back in few days ago. Used a 500ml of WD40 on the joints and helping it in and out with my foot so it did stick to free up. Worked for 2 days then stuck again. Repeated process and so far so good but think ill add copper grease and back to black while I'm there. Thanks for the vid (Got a 2014 L405 V6)

Yep, same issue I had. Used wd40 and cleaned down, then lubricant worked ok for a few weeks, then started sticking halfway down/up, then it just went back into the closed position and it's now stuck there. So new motor required.

@@towme123 My passenger side stuck in now, come out very rarely. Bout 1 in every 30 entries. Where can you get the motors from?

At the time, it was via China, it they were out of stock. Will need to look for the item again and order it. Will let you know in due course.

Looking Great, and thanks for the content detail. Will pick up some of that lubricant and spray. Had my drivers side step stick on me, tried a few things to help it, but in the end looks like I need a new motor.

While watching some of your other videos I noticed how clean your RR is underneath, have you treated it with anything. Great videos.

Had side steps over three different vehicles and they are a MUST have. Never had any issues and always clean where the silver inlay is with a pressure washer. Now I thought I was an expert, but I never knew I’d you stood on them after closing the door they stay deployed. Always used the switch in the earlier cars which was a nightmare, the infotainment screen on a 2017 model was a pain, but the same switch on the later models worked 100%! Odd! But gonna try your theory!! Thanks and great videos! Did I hear right your helper is called Spock ?

Hi Mark These are not factory side steps, bought from pegasus, with its own module. On my RR L322 which had factory steps standing on them didnt keep them deployed, so not sure if this method will work with factory fitted side steps , and yes my helper Dog is called Spock and his brother dog is called Kirk lol

@@RaymiesGarage so, yes the original JLR deployable side steps DO stay deployed if pressure is applied when they are out! Unlock or open the door to activate and then put some pressure on for a few seconds. Learn something everyday!! Thank you! Kirk and Spock, absolutely brilliant !🤣

The Back to Black finish that you put looks great. How long does it last, before needing done again?

Why use a copper lubricant over something like wd40
@RaymiesGarage
@RaymiesGarage 2 года назад
WD40 is a “de-greaser” therefore will eventually remove any lubrication, hence the reason for anti-seize lubrication grease which will remain on

WD40 will wash any grease away. It is not a long term lubricant
