G’day Martin, I love the vid mate! It shows how you’ve done the 2” lift great! I really like the tyres you’re running too 😀 The spacers you have on the rear are from “Hard Range” in Australia, sadly they’re no longer in business. Originally run by Paul (great bloke) and then bought by other P38 enthusiasts. I love how you’ve done the Front spring spacers for your lift. It’s common to see air leaks on the front springs due to rubbing when lifted from below (as I’ve done, although I’ve not experienced the issue) rather than above (as you’ve done). It’d be good to see you knock up spacer kits over there, I’m sure the market there would be much bigger than over here in Australia. My recovery is coming along well, can’t wait until I can head out 4wding again! Cheers Keithy

Hi Steven Just been looking at your channel, and was wondering if you could supply air bags that are 2inch higher than standard. On my 99 P38 I used the free version of EAS Unlock to reprogram the offload height to give me something like 4 inches of lift. In that setting I have 16 inches of clearance under the frame rails.

@all4x451 Год назад
Hi Gordon Thank you for your message! Yes that’s an option but be careful as air springs may rip as only have a certain amount of travel before failing. Have been talking to a manufacturer about increasing the travel but is very slow😂😂 Good luck with things👍 Regards Martin

@@all4x451 As a matter of fact I destroyed an Arnott air spring on an offroad trail in Colorado this summer. The lower locating pin on my left rear bag sheared off, the bag folded over and ripped. Ended up driving 137 miles on the bump stops including quite a few miles of offroad. Was able to replace the bag and continue my trip. Some mechanical lift would take some strain off the bags.

What's the use of a 2" lift when you extend the bump stops with 2"? Isn't the whole idea you have more flex? The P38 has plenty of ground clearance, chassis wise, so that can't be it. Genuine question, not to bash you. What you say about equal pressure with the axles flexed as in the video is partly right. not while driving, it only gets the same pressure when the EAS has enough time to adjust.
@all4x451
@all4x451 2 года назад
Hi Thank you for comment. Is always good to air views😂😂 The 2 inch lift is also for the fitment of larger tyres, and increasing wading depth. The larger bump stops have to be fitted or the flex will be too much for the air springs, and will damaged them as they have only so much travel! Regarding the air pressures, once the wheel sensor detects a wheel drop the designated valve opens to allow more pressure, combined with pressure switches rapid opening and closing of said valves occur. Granted the faster you travel the harder to control👍 Regards Martin

I do over 1k miles a month in mine with coil springs fitted. It was already converted when I bought it. I rarely go off-road and for what I do with it, it’s fine. I get why people prefer bags for off roading and comfort but I like the maintenance free aspect of coils. Drives just fine running standard 18s with ax7s. I drive many p38s at work with bags and coils alike, I prefer coils. I read a lot of passionate comments on forums over this topic, there is no need for it. Your vehicle, do what suits you.

@@oumaniac, the ONLY thing a Land Cruiser, or most Toyotas have going for them is the claimed reliability.. There is much more to a good car than just reliability. They lack style, they lack comfort, compared to any Range Rover. They really are nothing to look at, and, if you buy one new, 6 months later there will be a new facelifted one on the showroom floor, making your brand new Cruiser look dated. Every generation of Range Rover had around a 10 year run without notable changes, and even a 10 year old Range Rover still looks as modern as the current one. A 2 year old Land Cruiser on the other hand looks dated, as theres a new updated version every second day. And that goes for all Japanese marques… They just can’t seem to decide what they wan’t their cars to look like, or who to copy.. Look at Lexus throughout the 90’s and 2000’s, their sedans were shameless copies of Mercedes E/S classes, just somehow hideous, and ungainly.. And keep in mind that the Range Rover is the original SUV, the big daddy. Toyota was still busy trying to figure out how best to copy a Willys Jeep when the first Rangie rolled out…
