I'll bet the Range Rover and X5 are mostly disposed of or costing a fortune to keep going, but the ML was the best buy. It's like a truck and lasts forever with decent maintenance. The places I've taken mine here in Australia. Nearly 300,000kms and nothing rebuilt. I love my S Class, but the ML is a hoot.

You're right lol. If you check the plates on all 3: Range Rover: MOT expired in 2006 BMW X5 I couldn't find. The Merc ML 500 however also had MOT expired but in 2018 and SORN as well.

All these are off the road now and have had $$$$$$ spent to even get this far. They are not toyotas!

@@atodaso1668 Current offroad Toyotas are not what they once were. So many issues, DPF being the worst. Plus no options but the least powerful diesel in its class and lower towing capabilities make it a dud. An old ML320 does more. And lane assist and blind spot warnings don't work in rural Australia.

The Range Rover around a track is possibly the stupidest test ever. Range Rover for country, a gentleman used his V8 Vantage for performance driving.

I thought about a 155 GTA years ago but ended up with an e46 330ci RWD, only 20hp less, cheaper and, IMO, nicer inside and out.

The X5 back then was basically a Range Rover as BMW owned them back then.

Not sure about that. The X5' was actually based on the more modern monocoque chassis construction as opposed to the body-on-frame construction. This is why it set new standards for driving dynamics and handling for SUVs, which the likes of RR didn't have at the time, as they were more off-road oriented.

Not really, but they did use landrovers traction control and air suspension design I think.
