I’m sick of people saying we were lucky , the rangers are one of the best counter attacking teams . Yes goaltending was great and they had to withstand pressure from a team playing their first game at home but while the panthers dominated offensively , it’s not luck that the panthers didn’t defend well. You have to be able to do it all and the Panthers didn’t . Rangers also showed they could dominate in game 2.

Lafreniere felt like sh*t about having a goal go off his stick in game 1. Rangers might've pulled that game out if not for that misplay. Now he's doubling down and going for it, and his individual efforts were pivotal in winning the game today.

Maurice knows 93 & 10 are soft. He decided to lump them up and sure enough they have folded. Neither one is built for the post season. Put them on the third line. It isn’t just that Trouba is taking too many penalties, it’s WHY he’s taking them. He’s getting beat constantly, and has to hook or hold because a Fla player is getting past him - constantly. Somehow, some way, he has to be gone. There are other better and cheaper d-men out there. Even if NYR have to eat half his salary. And by gone I mean GONE.

This game should have been won in regulation. There was one Ranger player that was personally responsible for two PP goals for the Panthers. He was awful. You must, must, must get the puck cleared from the zone. Lav needs to get him off the D on the PK. Put in Gustafsson.

The Rangers gave up leads multiple time in this game, very frustrating. Our PK was awful for those first two goals. But Igor was the Manhattan Messiah. Saved us again! I noticed five standout players, and five players that need to gut check. Standout players = Igor, Laff, Goodrow, Wennberg, and Kakko. Gut check time = Miller, Mika, Panarin, Trouba, and Fox. I say this because I observed them multiple times either standing still, responding slowly and lethargically, making sloppy passes, or failed to clear the zone. We need our best to be our best consistently. Right now we're lucky that others are finding ways to win. It speaks to our depth. But you can't rely on that regularly. Your stars gotta be your stars series in, series out. All around I'm happy we found a way here but we gotta ramp up our energy and physical play, keep leads, get more pucks to the net, and own the O-Zone more. Is it better to be good, or lucky? Tonight we were lucky.
