I'm glad you agree that SCVI's customization is best. I think people tend to look at the older games' customization modes with rose-tinted glasses. SCIII's was great, but it lacked a lot of options introduced in later entries. 3D objects and stickers alone allow for a ton of creativity in SCV and SCVI.
I get that the unique weapons in 3 weren't exactly balanced super well (lance COUGH COUGH lance...) but it was super super fun having access to over a dozen unique movesets, including the ones like rapier and giant sword which were the same weapons as some characters but totally different movesets. And as you point out, not only aren't there any restrictions about costume pieces, but they just cut and never put back the movesets of all those dozen or so weapons which included super fun weapons like the kicking foot blades and curving dual blades.
To be fair, a lot of the unique weapons didn't feel like complete movesets and often only had a few moves that were actually usable. The main exceptions are the ones that belong to cannon characters like the dual nunchaku and hwang's curved sword
SC4 is what got me started but SC5 was a crazy wet dream for creations obviously but then SC6 happened where I got to live it all over again finally... I don't hate or kind recreating the cast characters with some clothes too, I had a few at the time mainly making Siegfried appeared as Guts but over time I needed more room for my original characters and OC's I had managed to make in game since I can't draw jack 💩 on paper 😅👌 you're number one dark edge lord here at your service 🕴🧛♂️🧛♀️⚔
I think I spent more time customizing characters in SC6 than I did actually playing the game 😆 also I swear I was the first person to have colored tattoos on characters cuz I didn't see anyone else online with them until after I started playing with mine
My only complaints with SC6’s customization is the removal of several parts that were in SCV and made some of those parts dlc, as well as making stickers somewhat wonky compared to SCV. Besides that it’s great, loved that they added parts that were in SC Lost Swords
Not everyone's a fan of customizing their own thing or just like to stick to simple is more look shtick and I understand that but for me when I started I didn't know what I was gonna do, was lot out on a wimb, and then finally I couldn't stop and took hours and days upon end just to make a masterpiece of something out of nothing 😅👌 I got hooked for days man it's crazy.
My buddy and I had so many awesome custom characters in Soul Calibur 4. I made Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles from TPB, GG Allin, the main 5 Sailor Scouts, and a ton that were just stupid shit we came up with like Gay Batman, Horse Manalo, John Cornman, Sarge, Lt. Juggz, and so on. God I miss it.
Honestly for me, 3 and 6 can go either way. 3 has more equipment slots and the faces are more distinct (not to mention its really the only SC game with real facial hair customization), but 6 has a lot of better looking faces and all the parts are more customizable. With mods though, its no contest, 6 wins. You can actually remove equipment conflicts for some interesting (and a few pretty buggy) combinations
Yes, I do A Lot and sometimes a ton... Very a ton 😅👌 but anyways umm here I'd say that Soul Calibur 5, that's right was The Best character creation maker anyone and everyone could ever have, wanted, or imagine infact besides well you know the story in it all being bad as hell quite frankly. SoulCalibur 6 though shockingly enough came in second place for me at first for being one of the top BEST character creator customizations, SoulCalibur ever had as a franchise honestly. I didn't like it so much at first because of how hard, tr8cky, and touch it took to make actual real good looking characters in SCVI from other series at the time, it may just take you a bit of skill with actual creativity to carve out something wicked in SC6 quite frankly... I had began to like SCVI's character creations so much in comparison to SCV's old character creation as swifty as it is, was and still is quite frankly I've managed to make somethings or a lot of things I should say more profoundly in SC6 now more than I would have ever thought that I'd do in SC5 personally and love it more than ever now... So personally as a bias I rank SoulCalibur 6 above SoulCalibur 5 in terms of best, and better looking creation options overall honestly they really do if you look hard enough besides the mid creations that get glazed a lot over sometimes online 😅👌 but yeah it's a tie honestly they both came so far and did pretty well good with themselves. For a bonus mention I'll put SoulCalibur 4 in here just because and for the sick nightmare hand arm customization you could do back then like not in any other SoulCalibur game you could do that at the time until that came along irrc... And the customized attacks in power you could do was pretty neat too.
I'm not a fan of the Japanese voices in general. Most of the time they sound grating. I've always preferred the English voices. Only a few of them I don't like are some the CAS voices.
Sc3 would be my favourite customization system but the skin tone selection suuuuuucks. The range of skin tones that actually look natural are extremely limited. If you want a character with darker skin than a light tan you're basically SOL because everything below a certain lightness turns completely grey and ugly. It might be a small nitpick but it seriously limits creative freedom. Later games aren't amazing with skintones persay but they're definitely better than the frankly abysmal implementation in 3. I know hardware limitations are a factor, but I'd rather have a selection of like 5 or 6 predetermined actually good skin tones than a completely useless slider.
That was me back then before I saw SC5 come out and then some 😅👌 I love SC6 now more than ever, I know a lot still love SC2 because of Link or some other weird linked nostalgia no pun intended. Don't get me wrong SCII was dope for sure but I liked SC3 a lot more as time passed despite the unhinged fighting some of the NPCs gave me like Night Terror or The Abyss 😅 I love those characters to death man they are so Cool looking.
