As much as people shit on Bo4’s HUD, at least it was unique to zombies. The warzone looking HUD we have now is just not it, and I think it’s partly why Cold War zombies is as boring as it is.
That's pretty much why I prefer bo4 over cold war. Sure bo4 is flawed, but at least it felt unique. It was doing it's own thing. Now it's just bland. The entire franchise post mw reboot is tbh.
You wouldn't even have to do too much to Cold War or BO6s HUD to make it fit in more with zombies. Remove all the constant pop-ups and the mini map and throw a bit of blood splatter over the ammo section and you basically have the same conceptual HUD as BO1
@@franciscobarroso1263 Bo2 Buried and Origins huds are just objectively way better. Hell even Shadow’s Hud is better than whatever The Giant-Origins Remade had.
I think the new huds have to be done on purpose to look generic and familiar for wz/mp players. I just can't think of any other reason to why it's like that, when games with less dev time have unique huds. They also have the same UI designer as bo3 did.
I really don't understand what's happened to zombies HUDs. My two best guesses are that they want the mode to feel more accessible to multiplayer and warzone players which is dumb but I'm also wondering if they have limitations with the engine or something. They recently admitted that the code only lets them have a certain amount of multiplayer maps in the pool for each mode so I'm wondering if there are similar issues with having multiple very different looking HUDs in the game.
IMO I feel like Black Ops 2 should be first due to the fact that we got unique HUDs for the DLC maps. BO3 just had the same one for all of them aside from Shadows, which was just an orange version of that. Also this might be unpopular but I feel like BO4 should be even lower. Yea I get that it's unique to Zombies but does it really matter if it's still super ugly? Like I would honestly take the HUDs of CW and MW3 over BO4 any day.
Completely agree, great vid. Personally without a map and compass, and medals and calling cards, i don't have any issues with cold war. And with bo4 If the elixirs were hidden, i would like bo4's hud way more.
vanguard you can turn off damage numbers, healthbars, compass, and change minimap into a circle. makes it into a much more bearable experience, sure not as great as others, near identical to cold war, but so much better than its default. mw3 can also have minimap changed to circle iirc too.
You are right about the compass and mini-map size (which is in most CODs at this point), but you cannot turn off healthbars and damage numbers like you can in Cold War. Unless I am missing something, but I am looking at the settings right now.
I agree with most apart from bo2 and bo3 being top 3 like they are both overrated as hell bo2 HUD is better than bo3 HUD by far IW’s HUD is way better than bo3’s all day every day
My only complaint with BO2’s HUD is how there can sometimes be inventory items that stay on your screen permanently when they shouldn’t (gramophone parts on Origins, warden key on Mob).
You can customize the LAYOUT. That's cool and all, don't get me wrong, but you cannot change the fact that the HUD is visually bland from a design standpoint (at least in my opinion). And we can't change "literally everything", it's already been confirmed that they have like 10 or so preset HUD layouts that you can choose from. You can't customize things to be exactly the way you want. I'm still happy with having multiple different layouts, that IS cool, but the problem with the HUD design being bland and too similar to MP/Warzone is still an issue to me.
I agree with all the choices even though I love bo2 it's my favourite COD of all time I can agree that bo2 is arguably the 2nd best zombies mode along the Hud that's just my personal opinion. And vanguards is the worst.
I feel like warzone basically destroyed COD because if you think about it before you had "X" amount of hours to make a COD which was Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies. Now you have the same amount of time but with an added huge gamemode kind of which basically makes it so Warzone (having the biggest player base in COD right now) just gets updated so activision can add more micro transactions and make money and the COD's that come out each year just have recicled assets form WZ like the HUD and maps (outbreak) and ends un being an advertisement for the main money gain which is Warzone.
I think BO3 HUD is too overcrowded. I love how it looks design wise, so i guess my issue is more with the things they added in BO3 like gobblegums and ammo types and such and ofc they have to go on the HUD since they are in the game.
Absolutely hate the new huds. There’s just way too much going on on my screen. Bring me back to the days where all we had was ammo count, round count, point count and perk icons please.
It's just wild to me that people are acting like a hud makes or breaks a game. Like, is the hud really that big of a dealbreaker when all it's supposed to do is provide info to the player? Imo, the hud only adds to the experience, not necessarily takes away from it.
If it’s what I’m constantly seeing then yeah it is. The hud for bo4 was so shit that it made the game as a whole feel like shit. The hud is very important
@paulallen2680 Idk man. There's lots of games where I don't like the hud, but it doesn't ruin the game for me lol. That would be like going to a restaurant that has really nice food, but the restaurant itself is super ugly, so you don't ever get food from there. The look of the restaurant doesn't change the taste of the food lol
Am I the only one who doesn't care what the HUD looks like. I can also find enjoyment from any of the zombies modes even the less popular ones. I mostly play was custom zombies now and every HUD is different
It’s less about how it looks and more about how functional it is for me, like for example in Cold War the screen has a huge amount of useless garbage cluttering the screen at all times while BO3 is compact and simple
Considering how many games they have to go off of the reason the new huds are so bad has to be whoever is in charge of allowing these to be changed to some extent. They must not want it to be good. They must want it to be like Warzone because I could create a better hud by myself in a day than they can in 4 years. It's just ridiculous, and they took away the points splashing next to the character. They have these dumb-looking icons and health bars. Nobody cares about armor, which shouldn't even be in zombies, and the most basic-looking grenade icons and whatnot; no life whatsoever goes into the huds anymore. Honestly, they should just make a bunch of awesome-looking icons and stuff and give us the tools to place all of them wherever the hell we want or disable whatever we want-not a few presets and a couple custom changes but fully custom huds. It can't be that hard to make.
I think they do care. They just think they need to make it more like MP/Warzone to appeal to those players, but I don't think they need to in order to get those players to play Zombies.
@@XpertfusionThey need to cut that shit… they don’t listen to the hardcore community that has been around for 10-15 years… Warzone/MP players are only playing MODERN zombies for the camo grind…. So just do that and pander to the zombies community with everything else. They are so out of touch.
My favorite is shadows but it’s followed by iw and then bo2. The base bo3 hud isn’t that good imo. The worst is definitely Cold War. Vanguard is third worst for me with mwz being slightly worse
Man, Infinite Warfare gets points for being unique, but it is extremely ugly to look at. Grotesque artstyle throughout the entire zombies mode. Unfort.
Zombies HUDs should be simple like the old zombies. You shouldn’t have to “turn it off” shit is corny as fuck. Cold War zombies HUD was absolutely garbage idgaf what anyone says
