Der Reise will always be my #1 zombies map. Me and my buddy Matt used to play together every single day after school. Then one day my headset broke, so we developed our own in game sign language to communicate what we wanted to do in between rounds. Knifing someone would mean follow me, we'd go prone and crawl to tell each other to make a crawler etc. We got so good at it that we'd be getting to relatively high rounds without saying a word to each other lmao. I really miss those days.
I don't personally see how Der Anfang isn't worse than Tranzit or Die Rise. I'd play those maps in a heartbeat over Der Anfang. edit: this is from someone who despises Tranzit with a burning passion and I still feel this way.
If Tranzit were twice as bad as it is I'd still rather play it. Vanguard zombies doesn't even function properly lol. The zombies can lose track of you and the game is just a buggy mess that doesn't have a pause option or pack a punch camos. Its not even a zombies map.
Five is criminally underrated and by far the most challenging map in bo1. It's the only map I've played with 4 players that is nothing but chaos. There’s nowhere to train, nowhere to camp and a fight for survival the whole game. The pentagon thief is the scariest boss in the series because he's twice as fast as you and takes your fucking gun and disappears. By far the coolest boss in the series. I think its a top 20 map ever made
As I get older I appreciate it more. Five was the culmination of everything waw was going for. Being desprate and using all the skill you possessed just to survive; knowing it will be in vain not stopping until you are dead. The player possessed little power back when round 30 was considered God tier.

Yeah honestly I don't why either, I mean yeah I was on the hate train for a while but I was a dumb 12 year old when BO2 came out so I didn't know better lol. As I grew up I went on to appreciate the map more and more, I also just love Green Run in general from the memories of my childhood friend coming over almost every weekend and we'd be playing Town Round 5 (His choice not mine so it would speed up the game XD). I also think the Victis Crew are severely underrated and I remember when they were HATED! Now as time went by they're some people's favorite group which I think it amazing!
I'll never understand people liking tranzit. It's weapons are trash, quest is trash, the map aesthetic is 90% fog and 10% fire and brimstone. Denizens make traveling a slog and there aren't any real positives to the map. Open world or not, it's not enjoyable as a map. Stop calling it a hate train when it's warranted lol. Just because a subset of masochistic players play the map doesn't make it good.
Kino Der Toten was my introduction to Call of Duty. I remember it really fondly actually. I was 6 years old (2012) and one of the neighbor's kids invited me over to play video games. He booted up Black Ops 1 and started Zombies. We played a couple of times, made it to round 10 once, which was an achievement for kids our age. Then I went home. Fast forward to 2016 and I got both Black Ops 1 and 2 for my birthday. I boot up BO1 and go to Zombies. I select Kino Der Toten and the memory came flooding back. I will never forget that map because of that one memory.
I got my Mom to play Black Ops zombies(she barely knew how to walk around). She was able to make her way to the shotgun and kill a zombie coming down the stars. While she was not paying attention the window near the shotgun was broken down and a zombie came around and slapped her. She literally rolled backwards in my old gaming chair from being so scared haha. I laughed so hard I could not breath. I won't forget that memory either :'D
Its my personal "love" since release.....this map is highly underrated because most guides + players dont know how to setup quickly and get multiple masamunes After the EE you have one of the best campspots ever created, use the skull and masamune + antithesis = you feel like a 115 imbueled god🤣
Really sad to see Five so low on the list, I genuinely love the map and thought it executed some great ideas. The pack-a-punch room doors counting down to a flood of zombies, the tight basement maze was anxiety-inducing and kept players always mobile, fucking Eminem banger, and the mad scientist always freaked me the fuck out. Also hot take: Five had the best cast of characters to play as, without a doubt. McNamara and Castro are fucking top-tier characters.
@@paulpritchard206 personally I only like kino for a co-op game or for nostalgia. I would rank kino at mid but not very high. After you get 4 perks and the wonder weapon there’s nothing else to do. I respect your opinion though. My favorite map is Shadows of evil and origins. I like to do a lot of things in zombies. But when I just want to have a simple experience then I would probably play kino or nuketown
I personally like die rise due to how dull and dreary it is. I like the zombies maps that have a feeling of hopelessness to it, but not to the "screw you" level of tranzit. Die rise makes you fear for your life on a moment to moment basis and keeps you on your feet. I like this. I think it's over hated but also doesn't deserve love. It's still one of my goto maps when i get on b02. definitely doesnt deserve a billboard though...
Agreed. When Die Rise launched, the only thing we had to play on BO2 was Tranzit and I was already sick of its bullshit, so DR was a blessing. Definitely not a top tier map, the elevators are annoying, the verticality can be frustrating and the EE sucks, but I had a lot of fun in that map and would never put it at the very bottom of the list. I mean c'mon, I'd rather play 50 matches of DR than a single round of Der Anfang
I think Having Blood and Nacht next to each other makes a lot of sense because they are extremes of two sides of types of zombies maps. Too complicated and too simple.
Why do people call blood of the dead complicated? It’s pretty simple tbh. To unlock pack a punch all you do is shock a volt, for the wonder weapon you can get to from the box then you do one step with a fireplace where you just get kills then run across the map. Honestly in my opinion “Buried” from black ops 2 was my favorite zombies map of all time… the Wild West setting with a giant dude in overalls that can kill zombies, the mansion where you get to fight the witches in a mini boss battle, the maze where you have to kill zombies to get to the pack a punch, it was also the debut map of the mark 2 Raygun. In my opinion black ops 2 had the best zombies
yea i really love Buried not sure why they never remastered or remade it i mean what else could they do with the map ? frankly add another easter egg that when you complete it whatever it is it unlocks more stairs by the pack a punch which leads you to a Boss Fight where it's basically a Giant Witch and every so often it spawns like 10 Mini Witches
Surprised to see Moon so low, I loved the QEDs, the Wave Gun is one of my favourites (cause the death animation is funny aswell), the Easter Egg was super cool and it was the first of it's kind really. I can definitely see the negatives and how it wouldn't suit people's taste however. Also incredibly happy to see this BO4 love that's been coming lately. BO4 zombies is godly with only a questionable engine holding back some of its maps. Voyage, while no elite map, is criminally overhated, DotN is arguably the most underrated map in zombies, and Ancient Evil is the best map we've had in Zombies since the end of BO3. Definitely the best list I've seen though, hope more people think like this and not like ChaosxSilencer :D
moon is definitely A tier for me. it brought a very different atmosphere and play-style introducing space suits and low gravity, and i loved No Mans Land (spawn) because it definitely made hype for what was to come later on as you explore the map.
Almost 7 years later bo3 zombies is still something I play weekly and that can be said for many others. Not many games can do that probably only gta and Minecraft. Just blows my mind that bo3 zombies is so replay-able and how it’s super fun every time solo or with friends
Kino was the first map i ever saw in zombies back in bo1 and I remember watching my older cousin play and being absolutelly terrified with the hellhounds and the hordes of zombies in the spawn room. Good times.
the only thing i can say is it's interesting you put der ah fang (idk whatever) higher than die rise because although the verticality was terrible in every since of the word it had a good amount of content that could make repayable at least with friends that i can say the same for fang but it's opinion so whatever. Same could be said with transzit, it had so much content even though it was bad, it had farm, town, and gas station in it which are all better than fang as map, plus the amount. of joy you got from seeing a friend get left by the bus is amazing
Kino imo has by far the best layout. Two easy paths that link up to one another and open the main hall. I don't need complicated bullshit but I like a bit of space. Kino is the perfect map I've never found enjoyment in any other map in zombies because they're either too big, too small or overly complicated
Honestly, i was too distracted by the 8 claymores guarding Jug in the Five section. Bro REALLY wanted to make sure he could quench his thirst in peace. xD
Moon is goated in my opinion, when you are an experienced player, the annoying things can be avoided, always walk through the tunnels with caution to avoid the trash spaceman. I find shutting the excavators off a fun challenge. You can def go high rounds just training in the biodome. Not a map for noobs but great if you want an extra challenge to get better at the game. And this map definitely made me a very good Zombies player.
Chrissim it's so interesting to see how we basically have opposite views, likes, and dislikes; and yet we both love zombies. Zombies golden Era to me was waw and bo1. When it was about gritty realism and holding out as long as you could; being desperate and taking all the skill you had to survive.

@@cordiedie your right, that why it’s boring, up uniting around 70-75, you camp with paralyzer. Then what I do is camp at jug with subsurface resonator and turbine and when they break I just boost myself up with paralyzer to get new ones. And that’s literally the whole game. It’s repetitive, boring, and easy if you do what I just said.
Being able to get a chalk draw of an an94 and draw it at anywhere you wish along with the svu combo to then pack a punch then return to the main area with 1 or 2 new perks to boot, it's kinda a good thing that buried didn't get remastered in bo3 simply because let's be honest... The guns were god tier, and shit guns in bo3 we're better than alot of good guns in bo2 😂 still a great map though can't deny that 😂
I don’t get why people think TRANZIT is that bad. It’s honestly not that bad, once you get staminup you can literally easily run into the fog and I always get galvaknuckles so Denizens aren’t an issue. It’s actually a map I enjoy going back to
This feels very different to how I would rank them, because my favorite way to play zombies has always been to try and play with 3 randoms, or 1 friend and 3 randoms, and basically to try and keep them alive. This has made a bunch of fan favorite maps extremely frustrating to me. For example, Shangri- la drove me insane, because I need my team to cooperate if I want to pack a punch. Origin, and MotD basically feels like I have to do the Easter Egg to have basic success, which is infuriating when playing with randoms. On the other hand, a map like Ascension is no longer dull, because randoms will always find way to die, and keeping them alive is hard. But also I can get everything I need. Obviously this isn't a normal way to play zombies. But I really wish it didn't feel like maps that you could play with randoms got completely abandoned. Also, this is why I still love Kino. It is amazing with randoms

You can’t truly judge a map until you’ve played it for yourself if you ask me so you don’t have a right to call it trash- but Der Anfang is definitely down there imo. It’s just so lacking in content.

Literally so many people wanted this because nuketown had so much EE potential with the bunker and alpha omega was so much fun, I do feel it could have been a bit better but it was still amazing and the ray gun mark 2 upgrades are a lot of fun. Some of these I agree with you but this one specifically couldn’t be further off in my opinion
"shi no numa didn't add very much" it introduced the wunderwaffe, had unique traps and Easter eggs alluding to der riese/the giant, it was an amazing map for training both in the comm room and the fishing hut....the wunderwaffe is much more iconic than the thunder gun because the wunderwaffe actually always kills the zombies

My opinion Tranzit is by far one of my favourite maps i rememeber getting home on fridays on loading up Tranzit on bo2 playing it all night with my friends was so fun ( its my OPINION )

Town will have a special place in my heart, it wasn’t my favourite but it held memories of me and my uncle. He hacked his ps3 to give me rayguns, god mode, flying abilities u name it. He’s been outcasted from the family now due to his drug abuse and has since left to go somewhere else. Although my family hates him and I understand why, he still gave me memories that I wouldn’t forget no matter what person he become
"shi no numa didnt change that much" introduced the story, added the 4 way branch map layout, introduced hellhounds and added randomization also brought in new traps and easter eggs, aswell as a new weapon, not to be a asshole just saying that sounds like alot of additions for the 3rd ever zombies map released imo.
What makes Kino so highly regarded is it's probably the greatest casual map of all time. It gives you all the features of zombies with a setup that 99% of players can easily grasp, and just like der reise welcomes all play styles. That's not even mentioning one of the best wonder weapons of all time, one of the best easter egg songs, and the way it retains the horror atmosphere while still being the most energetic map up to that point. Of course it was the first available on-disk map to the most popular call of duty, too.

While I might not agree 100% on some maps, your Top 10 has a perfect blend of BOCW, BO4, BO3 and BO2 in it. Some of the hate BO4 and BOCW maps get is unreal and I love how you're aknowledging them and placing them side by side with fan favourites!
BOCW hate unjustified, so i agree. BO4? A little. The only reason cold war is hated is because its too easy and has no amazing maps (aside from mauer), though it doesn't really have any bad maps.
I think Ascension is an S tier map, and I don’t hate any map. I think Die Rise is fun for me, and bo4 isn’t that bad. It isn’t as good as bo3, bo2, or bo1. I still like Blood Of the dead, because I love mob, and I like to think of it as a reimagined version on mob with a new engine with new stuff. It isn’t nearly as good as the OG mob, but I don’t hate it. I love Nuketown aswell because of the challenge, and the random perk spawn. Zombies is my childhood and I will forever love every map because they are all great. Forgot to mention I love every Treyarch map, not other games.
My first zombies map was five, I got on zombies right after beating the main campaign and felt that five simply looked the coolest, I hated that entire experience but the map itself holds a special place in my heart
I feel like kino Dee toten was meant to be the culmination of everything from World at War. It didn’t add new things because that wasn’t its purpose. It meant to put everything that came from WaW into one map as a comfortable intro to black ops 1 to both new players and returning players from World at War.
Die rise is my personal favorite map… I know that’s not popular, but I always loved the tramplesteam getting free perks and camping on the roof top. This map gets to much crap because people can’t jump between buildings 😂
Der Anfang should easily be the worst. Yes Tranzit and Die Rise are bad, but at least there were some things to do on those maps, and most importantly they were round based. Der Anfang literally offers nothing. I'm really confident that no round based maps will ever be worse than Der Anfang unless it gets drastically updated.
It’s actually possible to solo the Tranzit easter egg (on Richtofen’s side) and easily do the Maxis side with two players, though Die Rise does need four players for its easter egg
Tbh, I highly disagree with the placement of Die Rise and Tranzit. I think they are highly underrated and enjoy them a lot. +Origins and MotD, imo , are WAYYYYYY to high on the list.
Tranzit is just such an unsatisfying map to play. So convoluted and difficult to get around, you're punished hard for turning on the power and opening the pack a punch is something no casual player would want to even try to do. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes a bit easier to move around. But developing yourself into higher rounds, and something as necessary as the pack a punch being locked behind such a secret and complicated Easter egg feels extremely controlling. Transits bus mechanic and separated offers a nice gimmick and sense of exploration, but gives very little to the player in terms of scaling and progression. Playing this map feels like a chore because you are forced to perform some complicated and right out difficult steps for something as simple as a pack a punch. Die rise just offers so little content it's laughable. A few perks, single wonder weapon that isn't very difficult to get. And that's it. For its scene, die rise is extremely dilute in content. You could fit everything it does in a single building. So many other maps offer a better experience than these two, so it makes sense as to why they're so low. I'd go to as far to say that farm offers a slightly better classic zombies experience. No cheap gimmicks or convoluted procedures. Just dense classic content.
@@festivebear9946 I honestly find it satisfying to play both Tranzit and Die Rise. I don’t really go for EEs (Origins has put me off of those, plus I don’t have 4 friends to do them with)so I just try going for round 50 or as high as I can get to. The Tranzit P’a’P isn’t that bad, just place a fresh turbine in the AKs 74u wallbuy and run straight to Town. The map isn’t that complicated. Die Rise does lack content, but I just play solo and like to train for a few hours in the upside down room above the Buddha room so I don’t really care about a lack of content. Although it does mean I see less content on Die Rise which sucks as I genuinely love that map so much I honestly wouldn’t say Farm has a better experience, as at Die Rise and Tranzit at least have P’a’P and unique WWs. You don’t even have P’a’P on Farm and the WWs you do have are just the ray-gun and the RGMK2. I get why people don’t like the two and honestly find aspects of both maps really annoying as well. I guess I just have drastically different standards or just have found fun on those maps where others haven’t? Idk
@@psychoboy6613 You and I share opinions here. I only enjoy Origins if I ignore the set-up besides the generators. Mob is tedious and boring. The Victis crew maps would be the best maps on BO2 even if they offered nothing special, but yet they deliver with fourteen persistent upgrades and tons of cool gameplay interactions. Buried is my favorite, but Die Rise is a very close second and Tranzit is great fun to optimize!
Firebase Z and Forsaken both seem to lack a sense of place. All of the other maps actually feel like they exist somewhere. Like someone had actually lived or worked there before the outbreak - or in the case of Revelations, like the realm of a mad god. You can imagine how it looked before everything fell to pieces. Firebase Z and Forsaken on the other hand feel like maps designed in a video game. They don't feel real. They feel like playspaces filled with props and objectives and nothing else. They lack the charm and individuality of most other zombies maps. Even most zombies maps we generally consider visually dull and uninspiring, like Die Rise and Transit - they still FEEL like uniquely Zombies(TM) maps, whereas Firebase Z and Forsaken could easily be dropped into Halo, Battlefield 2042, Valorant, - and no one would bat an eyelid. Most people wouldn't even notice because of how generic they are.

AE is easily tied with my favorite Bo4 map and AO is my least favorite Bo4 map by far Imo. I don’t think AO is very well designed and has some of the worst enemy balance in a Treyarch map. It feels very bland and there are very questionable design choices on top of this. AE on the other hand is an inspired, creative and tightly designed masterpiece that will stand the test of time if you ask me. The atmosphere is unquestionably brilliant and the Easter egg steps are near perfect, and the ee also flows perfectly from step to step. The map’s flow itself is almost as perfect as Der Eisendrache’s.
I love your commentary and you’re ranking! I just miss the limited movement of the w@w and BO1\2 games, it helped keep zombies just a little scary because you couldn’t move as fast. One of the best parts of zombies for me was actually getting jump scared from time to time and later games got to cartoony and movement got to cartoony for me personally
