@@calebford6318speak for yourself buddy. The Cap movies never dipped in quality unlike the Iron Man and Thor ones. And I shed a few manly tears not when Tony died, but when Steve finally got his dance with Peggy.
Avengers was an amazing theater experience. I love the writing style of he who shall not be named. It was everything I always wanted in a comic book movie
Yeah, I don't know if they were saying the Whedon stuff is why they would not rate it higher but I hope not because that is stupid. I hope they are just rating it on its merits
I still think it's a worse film than The Incredible Hulk, but still waiting for opinion to come back around on that one. But the first Thor is perfectly okay.
When you do phase two, I hope you’ll include Agent Carter (the series) - it’s just a matter of time before it will be put back into the official timeline.
Agents of SHIELD is an A for me. James, I really hope you check it out someday! It's worth watching as a standalone series even if nothing in it ever connects back to the larger MCU.
That first season of AoS was only good in the last five episodes when the hydra twist happened in sync with Winter Soldier, before that they were spinning their wheels doing a monster of the week but MCU Jr.
The next fight is A trie Galactus vs $ Tire Flacon or Hoping that they will eventually rank their past Tier lists This channel makes the only tier list videos that are actually fun. Still really odd how the Cap costume was so good in First Avenger and so bad in Avengers Assemble? I love that they can’t talk about Iron Man without mentioning the “you can have two slices of pizza” improvement line. you two better continue with the other phases and always use the same tier list! just continue on it! AoS is definitely a B is Old BEN OWN WAN Kenobi and C tire is Hulk or D tire is Thor so I dropped off in the last series as I didn't care about the plot by then but I enjoyed it up until then and I think they did the Hydra stuff quite well. Pretty spot on, good stuff. I really wish the Netflix series kept them self-contained like they are but have a bonus one-shot episode where you see what they did during the battle of New York. Daredevil helps to evacuate apartment blocks and has a big fight with an alien at the end to demonstrate his street-level powers. Maybe Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have episodes where they are helping out but also trying to hide that they have powers. Punisher just helps up in a building mini-gunning. The MCU made me actually like Iron Man and Captain America. It let me see them at their best and appreciate them. Because before the MCU kicked off? I couldn't stand either of them. In fact, this whole 'Avengers' corner of the Marvel universe was a big shrug from me. I was much more of a DC guy. But they REALLY brought me around and now I fucking love them. :) This channel makes the only tier list videos that are actually fun. Every Spider-Clone, tier is listed. We're talking about Ben Reilly, the skeleton with a quarter of a Spidey mask on it, Spidercide, and maybe others. You guys should do a "The Crow" movie franchise review The core concept of Captain America is that he does not represent America. He represents what America should be and I think they nail that. Sunshine is one of my favorite movies too. That and 28 Days, all by Alex Garland and Danny Boyle. Looking forward to what you come up with below F for Inhumans Agents of Shield definitely get better!! And worse. And better again!! It’s not perfect but I love it Now playing Batman: Caped Crusader Season 1 - Official Trailer | Prime Video | DC rude Obi-Wan Kenobi 2.2K views 2 years ago Now playing Kick-Ass 2 - Caravan Of Garbage That first season of AoS was only good in the last five episodes when the hydra twist happened in sync with Winter Soldier, before that they were spinning their wheels doing a monster of the week but MCU Jr. Inside Out is the last GREAT Pixar movie Agents of SHIELD is an A for me. James, I really hope you check it out someday! It's worth watching as a standalone series even if nothing in it ever connects back to the larger MCU. They did a whole British Avengers bit with zero context What a pair of bikers in the summer dancing party eating food who is your Daddy in live-action.
James I definitely recommend checking out Season 4 of Agents of Shield! It's the best season in my opinion and its also the one that does Secret Invasion the right way. Something happens!
I used to watch Agents of Shield every Wednesday with my dad. It will forever be a great memory. And yeah the show was very interesting. I'm not going to say I loved it but as it kept coming out it was great
If you think about it, they caused the multiverse just as much as the Avengers did in Endgame with all of their time traveling branches they created in the last 3 seasons.

Man I loved AoS. To be fair, I didn't watch the last season after what was very clearly a wrap up of the show because it felt tacked on and I didn't want to ruin a good ending. That show though was so much better than most the crap we get now. And at the time I remember feeling like while the Marvel movies were more afraid to take big risks and felt formulaic, AoS would just go wild with it's plots doing things like time travel, dream worlds, other dimensions and all sorts of things while movies during that time were still relatively grounded. It felt really fun and comic booky in a way the movies didn't yet. Ironically, now all the time travel and multiverse stuff feels like crap once the movies all did decide to delve into it.

I think B is a solid ranking for Agents of SHIELD. It was a good show, but was hampered early by having to be tied to the movies #itsallconnected. Once they just started doing their own thing; it got great. Really crazy storylines (Matrix/simulation season, future space station season, dimension hopping "evil" Coulson season, etc)
I agree. This is probably my favorite Hulk design. I used to have a picture of this Hulk roaring with his arms wide as my Facebook banner (no pun intended) for a long time. Back when I still had Facebook lol.
I think Invincible and Agents of Shield have the same story trajectory, where they both start off very familiar with the stories they tell, but after a while they really branch out and go off in crazily interesting and entertaining ways.
As someone who sat through all of Agents of Shield, B tier is the perfect placement. If anyone is hesitant on watching Agents of Shield, just watch the Ghost Rider arc tbh. Theres other good stuff but that’s easily the highlight.
I had read I think... Joss Whedon had said that Agents of shield takes place in an alternate universe where Coulson lived, and he is dead in the main movie universe.
The only thing Hammer made that didn't work to my memory is his attempt at an Iron Man style exosuit. His drones worked wonderfully and Ivan had inside access to hack them. It's just that he doesn't come off as super intimidating since he's a pretty goofy jovial dude.
@Peweskimooxy oh yeah I forgot about that, I have no idea how with that entire introduction but tbh that was also hilarious that it had that whole Wikipedia article introduction and then was a dud lmao
11:23 I can’t comprehend James’ inability to not bring up the personal dramas of the artists who worked on the film. Here and there, sure. Especially if it’s a Kevin Spacey. But it’s practically every video now where we get the newspaper and the “not gonna talk about it 😅” and it’s always James. Never Mason.
I really loved item 47, and was hoping to see Lizzie Caplan and Jessie Bradford return in some way. I was really disappointed when they made Sitwell a hydra agent, so I assume they were probably recruited into hydra eventually. But they didn’t strike me as evil so I’m hoping that’s not the case. I’m still hoping to see them return in later MCU projects, although nothing has happened yet, I’m still holding out hope.
It really can't be overstated how much Joss Whedon flattened the characters in Avengers. I saw it before any of the other MCU films and felt like it was clever and stood alone well, but was surprised that characters with such wildly diverse backstories would be so similar. My friends at the time set me right with an MCU education and the emotional depth in what could've been brainless action movies really stunned me. Even Thor, which didn't hit me the same way, was Big and Exaggerated in a hyper-theatrical way that made up for it. Avengers just did all that dirty, even as good as it was.
Whoa! I totally forgot about The New Adventures Of Old Christie. 😳 Whenever I think of Julia Louis-Dreyrus, I think of Seinfeld, Vero, and the MCU. I never think of Old Christie, despite having watched several episodes. 🤦
A funny thing about a funny thing happened on the war to Thors hammer. I watched this on Disney Plus a few months ago and though it was funny, so I wanted to show my siblings and a friend who was over. I basically said its just a fun little short with Agent Coulson. I pressed play and it started where I left off, with Coulson getting gas and then driving away. Then the short ended. Maybe this was funnier in my head.
Mr Sunday Movies and Maso, I am SHOCKED to say the VERY least to hear you both give THE AVENGERS an A Tier grade and not S!!!!!!!! I remember watching that film with my cousin in the very first morning showing and WE WERE IN AWE OF SUCH AN AMAZING FILM soooooooo much that we WENT TO SEE IT AGAIN THE SAME DAY!!!!! We have NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE AND HAVEN'T AGAIN SINCE THEN!!! THE AVENGERS IS A SUPERB S TEIR MOVIE GENTLEMEN! Would you be so kind as to give more explanation on you how both came to this conclusion on your podcast The Weekly Planet come Monday PLEASE!
I know I watched a portion of Agents of Shield but I genuinely cannot remember anything that happened other than Miss Shield Girl (idk her name) eventually got like earthquake powers or something. B seems fair.
I hate to get political, I HATE to get political, but before November you should do a fictional movie/TV Presidents tier list. Harrison Ford and Martin Sheen are already S-Tier, there you go, got the hard stuff out of the way.
The only thing I can think of with this is Jon Bois' video on 24 and him going through all the presidents who keep getting killed off by the writers. "Oh my god Palmer's brother you're such a NEEEERRRD! I'm sorry I HAVE to kill you off now"
Love how they will take a dog at Elon, but not mention the genoc!de that he supports along with Disney and Marvel. Don't want to get all political! Don't get political while people are dying and your country is supporting it and the companies you make money talking about are supporting it.
@@toddhollen probably because there isn't a genocide. Also Elon is on your side, he loves to tell everyone how theres too many Jews and they're replacing everyone.
Maso mentioning that people who saw Agents of Shield in its entirety would be furious it’s not an S was so spot on. You two said B tier and I’m in my car shouting NO ITS AN S
There are S tier moments, and there are absolutely F tier moments. Personally i would've split it up by season cause otherwise i would have no idea how to rank it. The highs are so high and the lows are so low.
If it makes you feel any better, I think it's F-tier garbage. I haven't seen 1 minute of it, but I feel like I'm right and I will never revisit this subject again.
Honestly these arent bad, thor may be too high but for the wonderful controversy you gents go for, this is pretty great and reliable, looking forward to phase two
The winter soldier is my favorite movie of all time. I just Marvel, but my favorite movie of all time. But you acknowledging that the first Captain America is amazing is a first that I’ve ever heard on the Internet. It’s such a good fucking movie. I remember once to go see it and it didn’t feel like it was leading into the avengers. It felt like it’s its own thing. Something that they don’t really do anymore.
Video tier list. 1) I am not a fan, per say, but thinking of the Expendables at the moment, maybe an 80s-90s action hero tier list? Go through all the Schwarzeneggar, Stallone, Bruce Willis, and Sigourney Weaver movies and say "Turn in your badge! You are a loose cannon cop!" or something. Because..........it is still super heroes when you think about it. 2) Non-james bond spy movie tier list? Might be too many, but maybe just spy movies where the main spy is supposed to be THE HERO rather than something like Bridge of Spies where it is normal-ish people that have a chance of dying on screen. 3)Zombie movies from the 2000s. 4) Ok, now this is something I specifically want...................videogame movie tier list 5) Miyazaki movie tier list (SURE, IT WILL PISS PEOPLE OFF, but it will be funny!) 6) Dreamworks movie tier list (because I get the feeling Dreamworks might shut down in 5 years and now might be a good time to say "That was too many Shreks"). 7) Ralph Bakshi movie Tier List (Yes...............yes................I want everyone to be offended and laughing here. Bonus points for including Ralph Bakshi rippoffs like Dirty Duck, Tarzoon, or 1980's Missing Link)
Hey guys can you please do Caravan of Garbage on either or both...Rush Hour and/or Bad Boys franchises...I would love to hear your commentary on these plus backstory on each film...you know give the brothas some love...lol
how did both The Avengers and Justice League ever get made if it wasn't directed by anyone? really makes you think. maybe more studios should take note from these two great movies, and just not have any directors.
Watching this really made me miss the old MCU. When it was new and pure and you had to wait for things. Couldn't believe my eyes as a kid when I saw them all together in one film for the first time. That's what Marvel has lost now and what they seem to have forgotten by forcing it down our throats constantly - it isn't special anymore.
He thought comic accurate might be looked on more fondly. Since Xmen ditched comic accurate fun colours for black leather, he thought fun colours were back in
@@johntonssen7231 But then X-Men First Class proved that comic accurate colours can work, without looking like cosplay. Funny that Avengers Assemble was the only bad Cap design.
0:57 ABSOLUTE banger, my mates took the piss out of me cus I wouldnt stop going on about it 😂 especially when he just straight up kills the terrorists 👏🏾 this aint your granddaddy's MCU boy 😅 Also, that scene of greyed out, life deprived Tony with Stane leaning over him holding his metaphorical heart in his hand is still one of the most chilling scenes in the MCU
I'm a big fan of Agents of SHIELD, and I can live with a B. A good chunk of it is A+, but it does have it's dips, so I can accept it leveling out to a strong B. ;) That said, AoS really came into it's own as the series went on. I recall much distress over whether it's "actually canon" or not, but by the time the series finished, AoS basically forged it's own reality thanks to multiversal shenanigans (before they were cool) and said "fuck you" to any need to be validated by the MCU. And I love it for it. AoS remains in my top 10 favorite shows of all time. It more than earned it.
It's not just that Iron Man wasn't popular before the film, even in the comics community everyone hated him at that time because of the Civil War event.
I disagree on Hulk, I very much like the Incredible Hulk design, and wish it had stayed. I've come to love what we had for a few years before Hulk and Banner merged, but there's something about the very spindly Edward Norton turning into a wide brick wall of a green monster. The massive hands and feet also work. I'm not crazy about the gorilla-esque posture of the Avengers and so forth design, although I do get it. Zero Percent body fat Hulk from 2008 though, I really like that design.
Agents of Shield is in my S tier, but I am not offended you guys don't think so. I like all the references in the first couple seasons, but I think it shines in the last few when it for most part gives up trying to be directly connected. A lot of the Kree stuff makes a lot of sense in the light of The Marvels now.
