ƒαιтн αят very true. I was blown away the first time I played them because they looked so beautiful, but the story was very meh, and I hated team flare
!!!! That's what I say everytime to my friends. I'm ok if you don't like the gameplay, but the region is so memorable, each city and each route is so unique. Maybe it is a bit too linear, but still!
GSC --- especially Crystal --- would have to be the easiest pokemon games in my eyes. And look, the reason I say it's not X and Y is because I lost half of my team to a Volbeat, man. It's like fighting serene grace togekiss with air slash. Pure sadism. Don't ever visit the lower right portion of route 6 without a fire-type unless you want 30 minutes of evasion, moonlight, and confuse ray spam.
@@karthikrox6310 i agree Dimond and Pearl were horrible it took away the PokeGear,Old pokemons from other regions,The starters(only chimchar was good btw),the story was well intresting at least lol
I'll never forget the feeling of watching the Kimono girls dance after receiving the silver bell and seeing Lugia emerge from the Whirl Island waterfall in Soulsilver. By far one of my favourite sequences of all the games
I think it’s really sweet that people’s favorite generations are the ones they first played/grew up with. You gotta hand it to these games, they leave their impact.
Every Pokemon game has amazing things about them. Unova and Alola have their storytelling. X and Y have their awesome new game mechanics. Platinum has amazing new Pokemon. Kanto and Johto have their nostalgia value, Hoenn has its iconic music and legendaries.
I am currently playing HG and after 3 Gyms still had no clue on what's going on in this series. There's no memorable things whatsoever. Sure it's still pretty early in game so i hope it's getting better
I liked Pokémon Platinum the best, however there were other good games like Pokémon black and white 2 , Sun and Moon, heartgold and soulsilver. Platinum, because you can still get Pokémon that were not able to get back in Diamond and Pearl. Black and white two because of their storyline, sun and moon because they got rid of HM’s. And last but not least I like Heartgold and Soulsilver is because I could easily get Heracross in the game.
I grew up playing red and blue so they’ll always have a special place in my heart. Now I’m overwhelmed with how the series has grown and I don’t know where to begin.
My favorite games are HeartGold and SoulSilver, and Black 2 and White 2. An unpopular opinion: I don't actually hate X and Y that much. I'd personally place them much higher on a list like this.
I'd personally put X and Y easily in the middle of the list if not a little higher (though I may have a nationalistic bias towards these games). But B&W? Damn, these are my favourite, even before BW2, HGSS and Emerald (and I love all of the aforementioned games) it was just .......... amazing. The story was amazing, the graphics were excellent, the cutscenes blew my mind, I adored the new Pokémon and how they were distributed, there were many good characters, it was challenging and most importantly, not having Pokémon from previous generations before the league was so refreshing, it was as if I was just starting the series all over again. It is the type of experience that can only happen once. I simply love these games so much, and I play them regularly on emulator to this day (don't know how many times I have replayed through them)
I don’t think X and Y were bad games (then again I don’t think any main series game that has been released is bad) but I think they could’ve done better with the story, the gym leaders and the evil team. Probably doesn’t help the fact that it came out after the masterpiece that is Black and White 2 which I genuinely think is the greatest Pokémon game ever made.
Here's my ranking! This is actually not what I originally had, but after much thought, I decided to put these two (groups of) games below what was originally my least favorite (group of) games: 17. Red & Blue 16. Yellow 15. OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire 14. X & Y 13. Diamond & Pearl 12. Sun & Moon 11. Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee 10. FireRed & LeafGreen 9. Ruby & Sapphire 8. Gold & Silver 7. Crystal 6. UltraSun & UltraMoon 5. Emerald 4. Black & White 3. HeartGold & SoulSilver 2. Platinum 1. Black 2 & White 2
Emerald is probably my favorite game of all time. I would start so many new playthroughs just to watch that scene of rayquaza descending upon kyogre and groudon again. also I think the battle frontier is by far the best post-game content of any pokemon game
ORAS has to be my personal favorite. Everything about that game/those games is phenomenal, from the soundtrack to the world-building. The plethora of new mega evolutions added an extreme amount of playability and diversity to building a team, and the overall story of the game was beyond exceptional. It is a game that I have plugged over 2500 hours into; a game holding a countless amount of memories featuring my friends and me holding weekly tournaments and plugging in illegal codes for hacked legendary Pokémon; a Pokémon game that indubitably trumps all others.
To me is: 1-Black2/White2 2-Platinum 3-Heart Gold/Soul Silver 4-Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon 5-Emerald 6-Lets Go Pikachu/Lets Go Eevee 7-Black White 8-Fire Red/Leaf Green 9-Sun/Moon 10-Diamond/Pearl 11-Omega Ruby/Alpha Saphire 12-Ruby/Saphire 13-Gold/Silver/Crystal 14-X/Y 15-Yellow 16-Red/Blue
Dude there’s just something about Pokémon Emerald. I guess it’s mostly the nostalgia but wow I can still play it till this day and have just as much fun as I used to.
Yeah I just started playing it again. I had 120 hours on it back when I was 9 years old. And it's still pretty fun today. I tried playing gold again (never beat as a kid) but I can't save cuz the battery is old
i started a new playthrough exactly one year ago and racked up 400hours within 2 months( was jobless 😅) I burned at getting gold symbols at the pike and tower. I spent 150 hours at the pike alone and still, i cant even get to the boss.
I really appreciate that you ignored nostalgia and them being “classics” when looking at the original games. Too many people don’t consider how much of a pain it is to play some old games in modern times.
i don't think you can get nostalgia for red and blue if you didn't play them when they were released. The visuals are awful to look at and pretty confusing. You just can't help but think of the better games when you play it
peey64 Liu yeah, i wasnt even born when they came out, so i played fr/lg first and now i will never play red and blue (same with gen 2) because there’s no point
I really do like X-Y, it's imo the best region aesthetically. It just lacked in post game challenge (Idc about pre-league challenge, as long as the post game is challenging), and somewhat in storytelling. It also had by far the best anime, so extra points for that.
XYZ anime was absolutely mind-blowing. I remember crying multiple times when I watched. Ash-Greninja was a whole new level of epic, especially how it was slowly teased and had great development. Everything about it is... Just WOW! I want to watch it again, but most of the videos have been taken down from youtube :'(
@@anarke216 they are not. In kanto and johto pokemon were simple. They just looked like normal animals and had their own charme. After gen 4 the pokemon look like digimon
Crystal was my first game and man.. that generation is still the best. My best memory was catching Raiku with a poke ball at full health. I was baffled
I love X and Y. Just my nostalgia I kinda grew up with it. And it’s a decent story in the anime and I was like 9 when I played it. I was fine with it being easy, after struggling with Moon’s elite four for ten eons.
Peng Gao yeah I still really liked them as a kid, but I think I’d want it to be harder now. I started a nuzlocke that I need to start again and 8 don’t think it’ll be too hard except for that Sycamore battle
My favorite was Platinium, thanks to pure nostalgia, it was my first game, I still remember my 6 year old me stuck at the first gym leader because I didn't know that Pokemon types were a thing xD
Platinum will always be my favorite pokemon game. It was my first game of the series and I was introduced to it through the Diamond and Pearl anime. Also for me personally, it was the most difficult to complete. I still like all the games and remakes that came after but this one really made try
I'm 94 born, I remember getting Pokemon silver in 03 from Thailand. But the language was all mudled up. I ended up literally talking to everyone in the game, just to get through it. Also, there were no guides back then. I remember it took me the longest time to realise that we can go to kanto also. By the time I reached kanto, my feraligatr was almost lvl 80. Damn tears
Everyone would always put their first games between the best. I will always put Platinum above everything just because it was the game that brought me into the franchise and the one I played the most.
I know, black and white are my second favourite games. What was hus justification for putting them so low on the list again? It had TWO bad Pokémon. TWO! Everything else is amazing. Gameplay, soundtrack, characters, story, graphics, region design and much more. But nope, apparently he thinks FR/LG are better.
My top 5 pokemon games: 1. Pokemon Black and white 2. Pokemon black 2 and white 2 3. Pokemon Heartgold and soulsilver 4. Pokemon ultra sun and ultra moon 5. Pokemon crystal I really love Unova region. I really like some underrated pokemon like trubbish and garbodor or audino. And its story is great. Best story and best evil team and cool characters. Heartgold and soulsilver are also good. Following pokemon is so great feature and great soundtrack and epic fight against Red.
@Firestorm Soldier i mean not being offensive or anything to tick u off but r u rlly coming at him cuz he likes a game and u dont like that game? Cmon man. Respecc a mans opinion
A Demented Fish I only have them that way around because of trainer customisation and being able to choose animations for throwing the balls in moon, (I wanted to change anims for throwing poke ball for a long time)
For a sec i was like "wtf is oras?? Ive never heard of pokemon oras. Did i miss out??" I read it as one word. Now i realize its omega ruby and alpha sapphire.
Honestly gen 5 is some of the best games in the series (Black and White 2 aswell). Not only did they make an amazing story the soundtrack went with it as well perfectly. Sure they added some crappy Pokémon but that’s the thing they added Pokémon which future generations don’t do. This is why they are one of the best in the series
Well honestly they are really clunky for nowadays standard. If you really want to play gen 1 Pokemon just go for LG & FR it's just a much better experience.
In my family, as a girl i was never allowed to have portable game systems, so as soon as i got my first GBA and DS i made sure to play to my hearts content. Soul Silver was the first pokemon game i ever had, i relied on the anime and my pokemon card collection to get me through junior high in 1997. Soul Silver will always be my favourite especially since the pokemon follow you, that is really the best part XD
Why wouldn't you be allowed to own a portable game system as a girl? No offense but what kind of parents would forbid that to a child? That just doesn't make any sense lol
@@DarkNix741 It's called sexism my dear, it is alive and well. Games were a boys thing, i was meant to focus on arts and schooling. Most people who aren't from an immigrant background wouldn't understand.
Don’t worry. I wasn’t allowed any game consoles or hand held systems at all as a kid. Parents/family were super old school and thought it was for idiots and tried to make me do the things THEY thought I should do. Hated it. Now Since leaving home at 15 I’ve owned every console since and built two $5000+ gaming computers and game till my hearts content.
Listen: I like Sun and Moon, I think they’re great but they treat me like a complete retard, the handholding is absolutely stupid and makes the game so slow.
They look weird in the wrong ways. they are just missed chances. Only 3 of them I like. (4 if you include the evolution.) The rest are terrible designed, or just a bit like a man fused with a bug. (while not terrible, just plain ass weird.)
Out of all the games I've actually played, my list would probably look like this 1. SoulSilver 2. LeafGreen 3. Platinum 4. Crystal 5. Sun 6. OmegaRuby 7. Ruby 8. Yellow
I wish we got Emerald remakes. Edit: I just looked at the likes in this comment and it has the most likes I have ever gotten. Ty for the feedback. Imo we should’ve gotten more delta episode content though. I’m also more looking forward to sinnoh remakes.
They’ll never do combined versions again after Platinum. Gamefreak realized that we would just wait for the combined version to come out instead of buying 2 games to complete the Pokédex. Now you’re forced to buy 2 versions since they stopped making combined versions, it’s a very greedy marketing strategy, a lot of us see right through it. Idk why no one is really talking about this.
Andrian - Did you not understand what I said? They don’t make those anymore. The ones that come out at launch are it. There’s only gonna be sword and shield, no combined version.
I think X&Y ARE my favourite, but it might be nostalgia since they were my first. I do agree with the positives you have to them, but despite all the cons-which I also agreed with-I absolutely do love the atmosphere in this game.
This may sound odd but X and Y are one of my favourites. I loved the 3D and the customization and that story with the floette. Although I may be biased, it was my first pokemon game.
I played Moon first but bought X myself with my own money soon after. I beat them around the same time, but I also grew up with the XY/XYZ anime and I loved the clement jokes no matter how old they got. And Serena felt like a real character to me.
i swear i’m the only one that loves alola. when that game first came out i just ignored it because i thought it looked “stupid” (idk why, cuz i was too cool for new pokemon games). but when i played it i loved it so much because it changed a lot. sun and moon are definitely my favorite games since the series peaked in Gen 4.
@@leonhard3969 sequel or prequel? Because the prequel was ORAS and I liked those games. But the sequel was USUM and I agree, those games were below average.
I didn’t like Sun and Moon but USUM, I really liked. Honestly it’s one of my favorite games to this day lol, I dunno why I like it I just do and the fact that we got more content than before makes it even better for me. The new storyline is a bit different or quite a lot different towards the end and we get surfing which is fun too. The game wasn’t top tier in general but it’s higher than average for me.
Leafgreen/Firered are my favorite and Emerald was a close second. Generation 1 and 3 was just a spectacular combination and I can’t find myself playing the new games because the new Pokémon just don’t have the same charm and their designs were getting too complicated. Once the games started getting 3D I stopped playing them extensively. And once you unlocked mega evolutions on your Pokémon, it just got too easy. At least the legendaries weren’t easy to get, having to solve puzzles, fight trainers and random encounters as well as having to catch the Pokémon with extremely low catch rates. Once you got them, it was worth the effort. You could have all of them on one team with no consequence. Now you have to go through a bunch of bullcrap of getting the mega stone of each type and the mega ring, not to mention they had to evolve to Megas during battle in X Y. It was just too much and is why the first 3 generations were my favorite and arguably the best.
the designs became just lazy ,overcomplicated messes...or just dumb .of course mega evolutions wasn't enough they had to introduce gigantamax and the other thing terakrystal?teraforming I really don't remember but u get the point
Diamond was my first game, and platinum is my number 1 favorite pokemon game of all time, with black closely following, both of these because of nostalgia. i played a TON of soul silver when i was like 11, and loved it but nothing will ever beat my first playthrough of Diamond in first grade, or seeing pokemon with actual animations for the first time in Black. I really enjoy sword too!
Wow what an original comment. This comment is probably the funniest comment i have ever read in my entire life. Twuffli, the greatest comedian of all time.
David Lee i appreciate your extremely sincere and gracious compliment, for i very clearly put years into studying the art of comedy just to formulate this perfect joke. thank you
As a literature student, Black and White will remain my favourite pokemon game. The story was the most rich for me, the gym leaders had so much personality and the Unova pokemon, though lacking in a few aspects, were very interesting to have as a stand alone. Ghestis' greed being disguised under a serious moral dilema was so smart and interesting and the question was really cool to explore throughout the game. Watching N grow and change and hearing his back story made you really feel apart of the game, and the use of 'black and white' as all or nothing and N realising the world is actually more grey was nice to experience. Seeing Cheren grow too and ask himself why he wanted to be champion apart from a show of strength was nice as well.
Sun and Moon have grown on me. I loved them on my first playthrough, hated them after a lousy endgame, hated the idea of ultra sun and ultra moon not being sequels or one version, but now looking back. They have my second favorite set of pokemon, a "decent" story, and Gladion who is my favorite rival since Silver. Wishiwashi is my favorite pokemon ever. Gen 5 is the best, gen 4 is second best, but gen 7 is my dark horse number 3.
Elijah Hoch why gen 5 I don’t understand gen 5 IMO it’s when Pokémon started to go downhill like I like it an all but it really feels like a hold your hand thing not a journey
@@Elijah-qp5nh Yeah it has the best story but, it sacrifices what I loved about pokemon. How I could do what I wanted. I loved the adventure. I understand if you prefer story over exploration, but me personally, I don't. I still have liked the newer pokemon games but they dont capture the magic they used to in my opinion. (Just my opinion)
White 2 has to be my favourite. It was the first ever pkmn game I've played and I loved it. My first squad was my unova dream team and I had a lot of fun. I definitely grinded more than I needed to but I thought the story was good and the post game is also great. I am also currently solo running the game with an oshawott for a school assingment
