I'm playing Demons' Souls properly for the first time (on PS3) and to me it just feels like such a prototype of Dark Souls. Every level is just a more annoying version of a level in Dark Souls and FUCK there's stupid red twats with 1,000,000 HP that 1-shot me everywhere.

Thats an opinion and here is mine. No lol. I love demon souls, but the bosses are some of the worst parts about it. They are way to easy and some of the levels are kind of boring like lords path 1-2 or the 2nd level after adjudicator with the reapers are ghosts.. absolutely terrible level design from those 2.

Not exactly a love letter to the franchise, so much as a love letter to the first Dark Souls. To me DS3 came off as relatively uninspired. The world and lore didn't excite me the way Dark Souls or even Dark Souls 2 did. Those games gave me a real sense of wonder and mystery my first time through (DS2 to a lesser extent), and the sense of thematical/geographical retreading in DS3 cut into that a great deal. So I guess I actually agree with NL's initial take of the game.

DS3 is definitely my favorite as well. I haven't had the opportunity to play bloodborne though, here's hoping for a PC port in the near future.

Yes a non toxic dark souls fan. Hard to find nowadays considering most of them can’t stand others having a different opinion. Northernlion’s ranking is exactly as what I ranked. Dark souls 1 was ok because it got a little tedious sometimes and the rolling was pretty bad but you don’t notice it until you play something like dark souls 3. The stop to drink Mechanic was really really annoying.

Dark souls 3 fucking sucks. All the oldschool players agree with me.

Okay, im emotional. It dosen't suck, but it is inferior in EVERY way to darksouls 1 except superficial stuff like graphics. Dark souls 2 you are allowed to dislike, personally, i liked it because of how inventive they were with the skill system and itemization. Wacky but flawed. Now darksouls 3... Dark souls 3 is like that hot model you always thought you wanted, but once you get to know her she is all looks, and no matter how hard you look there just is no real depth. It had THE WORST balancing of DS game, resulting in only one playstyle being viable... The result is a game that FEELS good to play, because they have smoothed over some rougher corners.. but that is all that it is carried by. An empty shell of a DS game thats carroed by gameplay innovation and ease of use. DS3 is not a bad game, i have spent actual hundreds of hours in it. But it is just objectively a shallower experience than DS1 or 2.

@@SapSapirot what are you talking about, I switched my weapon type so many times during my darksouls 3 run lmao, i even found myself using different weapons that had an advantage against certain bosses during the fight

I'd recommend not watching the series he made when it first came out. He quit part way. The more recent series goes through the whole game.

You definitely should! It’s an amazing experience, especially if it’s your first Souls game.

In his playthrough of DS3 he said it was the best one. But yeah other than that not much.

@@Jbswe I never had a huge problem with the poison areas of 3 because they all had laid out and defined pathing to take as little damage as possible.

i finished my first DS2 playthrough a few days ago, and I gotta say, the Ivory King himself wasn't as memorable as say, the Fuke Knight or Sir Alonne, it was more about the buildup

@@solaireofastora9178 I dont think he shat the bed necessarily, he had good points to make but he just kind of ignores how enjoyable the game feels to play on average, he's blinded by his own opinion of the game

Up until the launch of DS3, the PVP was extremely diverse and active. Much better on every axis than Dark Souls 1. I don't have the experience with DS3 PVP to compare the two though.

There is way more build variety and the power stance mechanic was really cool and interesting to explore, but at the end of the day PvP in these games are what you make of it. Sure the experience will suck if you go up against players who just want to cheese you to death, but that can be said for all the games.

The fact you can't turn off online on DSII makes it even worse too, technically you "can" turn it off but it's not a game option. Belfry Sol was an annoyance trying to get one item there, getting invaded every 5 seconds and that is recently on the base game version of Dark Souls II.
