Hey everybody, I got a lot of new physical media in July and watched a ton of it and here is everything I watched and my rankings AND a look ahead to August! So come with me, I got you, let's go do this!
this was harder to do than I thought because I actually watched so much this past month -I thinnk I forgot a few lol....not a fair fight though when I just picked up 4ks of movies like Fright Night and watched them in the same month as first time watches 😆
@chloedog73 funny you mention that! We are starting to design some shirts and hats and goodies to help support the channel! I was hoping there would be some interest in them if I do them! This t-shirt actually came from Universal Studios florida BUT I think it can also be found by the "Hallowen Shirt Company" online who make some of the horror shirts for Universal Studios!
@Dis-at-large I haven't seen Aunties meat pies and I am always looking forward to a rewatch of Nightmare Sisters heehehe...glad you enjoyed them! Nightmare sisters is just pure b-movie fun to me
Twister was a really good 4k, I was definitely impressed with it. Speaking of Walter Hill, I just watched Streets of Fire on 4k. Interesting film, it’s kind of a rock opera/action film with a 50s/80s vibe with an outstanding cast. Diane Lane really matured from her performance in Six Pack 😂 I’ve got the Demons 1 & 2 on the way from Synapse. Even though they don’t have a slip, which is weird, according to the website it’s a newly remastered 4k with Dolby Vision from the original camera negative. That was enough to sell me on it even though I prefer the artwork of the box set. But I feel better about it knowing that was the OG artwork from the VHS
@TheTylerpoe that is interesting on demons - Ken at Mid Level Media and others have said that the 4k transfers were the same and they are basically just reusing all the back of the package specs...I figured if that was the case, saying the "newly remastered" is just referring to their original remaster from before...that would change things for me if it is new so thank you for the tip!!!! I have never seen Streets of Fire but I do enjoy Diane Lane (um cough "Unfaithful" cough lol!!)
@@AVAPopCulture I’ve always crushed on Diane since Six pack with Kenny Rogers 😂 Btw, I preordered the new Demons releases from Diabolik and they were $29.99 vs $44.99 from the synapse website. Pricing can be weird sometimes
@@AVAPopCulture I also preordered that Drive steelbook and will be my third time owning on 4k. NWR is one of my favorite directors and the Second Sight box set is my favorite piece in my collection. I should’ve just bought that box set from the start which lines up with your FOMO video. I ended up spending more money because I originally didn’t want to spend that much money but after a while, I just couldn’t live without that box set 😂
@TheTylerpoe I'm so looking forward to the Drive steelbook! I don't own that movie and have never seen it!!! Funny you mention the FOMO video because I have spent out more money up front lately than I want to BUT I know that if I don't buy it now, that a lot of these will be way freaking more later...
I have that Second Sight Ginger Snaps collection on the way right now. They just shipped it. I love all three movies. Katie Isabelle is great, especially when working with Jen and Sylvia Soska. I got to know them right before the release of American Mary. I haven't talked to Katie in a while, but I do talk to Jen from time to time. The twins are having a good time right now working with The Rippaverse on a comic. Most would probably disagree with me, but I have a particular fondness for Ginger Snaps Back more than the first two. It appeals to my love for historical films.
BTW, I've never seen Drive, but I was thinking about getting it because it reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. She was the model for a bunch of the promo stuff they put out for the movie. She's the half Korean/half Native American girl posing topless except for the gold jacket with the scorpion on the back if you've seen any of those promotional shots in magazines and stuff. I was a little too stubborn for her. I refused to move to LA. Lol. She was a wonderful woman, but I still wouldn't do it if I had it to do over. No LA for me. 😂
Dig that hat. Out of all the physical beauty I bought since I started my new job, I think I've watched maybe one thing. I started going back and seeing what was on Tubi and Max (I watched Knox goes away last night. It wasn't bad). I finally bought the Arrow 12 monkeys and I started to watch that last night but it was too late to start a 2-hour movie. I definitely wasn't popping in the sadness 😂
LOL yeah we talked about the sadness...I am not sure I'll ever pop that one in hahahaha...I fell asleep watching Daughters of Darkness last night...plenty of nudity but very artsy lol
My tastes have definitely changed. I don't know if I could do artsy anymore. I need to watch the rest of your video later because I see a fright night in your thumbnail and I don't have that. But now want it. @@AVAPopCulture
I got a lot of stuff this month but my top watch on physical was probably Mother by Bong Joon Ho. A masterpiece from start to finish. Another Korean film high on my list is A Taxi Driver which is simply stunning, a gut-wrenching true story Also 1985’s The Stuff, best horror comedy I’ve seen in a while
I dug Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, by far no where close to The Gentleman or RockNRolla but 1 of the better Guy Ritchie movies in the last few years to me. I havnt seen half the movies on this lists lol Love Chopping Mall, those slow ass robots crack me up
@thelastmoviestanding sounds like you have a lot of good movies you need to watch lol... I was so pissed I skipped over Chopping Mall for so many years because I had a blast watching it lol...
@@thelastmoviestanding I get it, I dont have horror love to the level of others in this area either...I watched Cemetery Man last night and people go crazy for it and for me it was just kinda ok and a little weird lol
