Video suggestions: Reskin Covenant weapons to look like UNSC tech, and vice versa ...or... Design a few weapons with UNSC and Covenant design styles blended together.
Would be interesting to see a tier list of all iteration/ redesign of helmets over the years, like Recon, Eva, Scout ect. Example: Recon H3, HR, H4 and Trailblazer aka Recon for Mark 7.
Hurt when Operator got B tier but I remember thinking it didn’t feel so epic with attachments that remove the top goggles thing cause it really does give it a lot of it’s character. Which is kinda the thing pilot needs but does a little better with its base and adding the forehead piece.
See for me Atleast imagine if they added like a night vision attachment, like he drop down quad lens, I think it would fit operator so well! It gives me a spec ops vibe
The pilot helmet is my favorite helmet in the whole halo franchise and when you add the UA/HUL accessories it makes the helmet perfect hoping they put it in halo infinite
I know this would've made the video WAY too long, but certain helmets benefit more than others from color customization. Gungnir is a prime example of something that looks better with some contrasting colors.
Really enjoy your videos and agree with most helmets except recon, I fell like Recon was at it’s best in Halo Reach, it’s smaller profile fit it’s purpose of stealth better. I feel like Reach nailed the believability and aesthetic of functionality with it’s Spartan 4 armor which is what gave Halo Reach’s armor such a unique utilitarian aesthetic compared to previous Halo games. I think these qualities are best expressed in the Commando, Scout, Recon and Mark 5 Helmet. These are the helmet I feel you can see a helmet and instantly guess it’s purpose.
The special thing about reach's armor is that the attachments and customization can completely change how good these helmets look. Some of the c and b tier look like s with the right attachments
The one thing I dig about the military police helmet is that it’s as close to a normal trooper helmet as you can get. Being basically the space trooper helmet with a opaque visor
My favorite has always been CQB. I think the shape of it makes it more expressive, and the more round shape better fits with it being a helmet in my eyes.
Reach has a lot of great helmets, and also a lot that are just okay. I think AKIS GRD/CBRN deserves a mention for looking much better than the other AKIS versions. I'm also fond of having prominent attachments, especially large sensors, so AKIS GRD/CBRN and Mariner OPTREX are among my favorites. Commando and ODST are inescapably S-tier though. Total agreement there.
If you're taking suggestions for videos, I've got one. With Microsoft acquiring so many companies, and owning so many IPs now, I'd love to see your take on crossover helmets. Doom Slayer's Praetor helmet, Power Armor from Fallout, Reinhardt from Overwatch (Shares Escharum's voice actor BTW), COGs from Gears of War, etc. I think it'd be an excellent challenge for you, and I think it'd yield excellent art.
I liked the video man. I don't know why I was reminded of this but I really miss receiving helmets from challenges. Seeing the rare helmets in matchmaking was always cool and inspiring knowing what someone went though to be wearing a certain helmet.
In H3 and 5, the security helmet's visor "disconnects" from the chin, giving this "hanging" effect. Reach tries to fake that by indenting the lower portion of the visor. I think if you made that lower portion black, it would work. Pretty interesting list, although some helmets I think would be saved if you compared some of the attachments. Commando's "cap" attachment makes it go from S to SSS tier imo :P Also if you do more of these it might help to look at the helmets in game so you can compare the sides. Reach's helmets have the most consistent design language across the board. Specifically the black brims on the foreheads and the circular "ear" sections on the sides. Great video and (minor) redesigns!
The Military Police Helmet is actually a Mjolnir variant of the CH252 helmet that Marines & Soldiers wear. More specifically the ECH252 which is fully enclosed and vacuum sealed the only difference is that the ones Marines & Soldiers wear have a clear visor. So altering the MP Helmet changes the entire design of the CH252 Helmets.
When I first played Reach I was an EOD fan all the way but over the years I always either used the MK V B or ODST. The designs til this day are simple and timeless and the attachments feel like they don't take away from either design (through I do like running the MK V B without attachments)
I use the Hazop helmet on Reach (Glad to have it back ln infinte but it isn't worth for 20 bucks) and althought it got a C tier i reason with the changes you would do to improve it. The mouth area isn't annoying to me but its a nice detail to have it covered with the default appearance. Kind of like Commando's helmet does, only showing the real mouth with the CBRN attachment
Problem.. If you look close enough at Grenadier's visor you may notice a small circle. This is just speculation on my part but that might imply some kind of integrated camera system that would likely be hidden underneath the reflective layer on later gen systems. There are some concept pieces that show Mark IV & V variants with additional trim around the visor that isn't as present on Mark V and VI. Grenadier is also confusing though, because it does not resemble any common interpretations of Mark IV, despite apparently being an up-armored variant of the family. I personally liked the extra trimming, since the visor are the eyes (identity) of the helm, and without the trim, it feels a bit too close to Mark VI. Also, a lot of people also don't seem to realize that Hazop was the skull helmet b4 Haunted. The structure of the cheekbone/upper mandible area and the hallowing/darkening of the cheeks are the most major tells. Smoothing it out too much also takes it away from it being a from previous generation (and also it's natural 'frown'). It is also one of, if not the only helmets that seems to properly fit the CBRN attachment. If you water down and simplify/smooth out everything, you start to lose the identity that things such carry.
Broke my heart to see security down there, i do like your redesign for it, the base helmet isn’t my cup of tea needs the attachments to break that rounded silhouette Great vid
Mark v b was almost perfect. But it always annoyed me that you couldn't have just the visor attachment without having to have the Hul attachment on top of it. It was especially strange, since a version with just the visor attachment was present in the beta, but not the full releases
It would also be nice if 343 could remember the helmet brim existed after it came out. I actually quite like the HUL attachment with it, but so far in Infinite, it's missing it's most unique part of it, so it hurts to look at it there.
YES! That visor/brim somehow adds a lot to how cool the mark v b is. If you could have the visor without the up armor then mark v b would be the helmet I use
I wish we had more attachment options available. Most attachments can go on most helmets without a problem, but we only get two pre-selected combinations. It sucks when I want an attachments, but it adds or removes something I don't want it to. I would have preferred another season dedicated to Reach helmet and chest combinations instead of more Call of "Halo"-esque armor added to H3, or those non-Spartan Mjolnir last season.
@@alexanderrobins7497 I hate how Infinite made the helmet attachment system even worse. You can't have multiple attachments even if they occupy a different spot on the Helmet like left/right/top/front. No UA piece with the CBRN filter, no Tac-light on one side with comms module on the other :(
growing up, I played nothing but Ce campaign, not even multiplayer. so the mark V is still my favorite. second favorite is the air assault, as it's a clean and straight helmet, not too busy.
the base AKIS helmet is kinda bad, but the CBRN variant makes it one of my favorite helmets what I like about gungnir is how mos of the helmet uses the player's secondary color (also the CBRN variant makes it look better) and yes, ODST is a flawless helmet
Interesting stuff! Like the more relaxed video format too! Also, love the round glasses! 😁👍🏻 so many great helmets! love EOD! MK V[B], pilot, commando, and the other classics are also favorites if mine! 👌🏻
RIP. My helmet ended up in... Well, y'know. To be fair though, I did redesign it myself into a custom variant that merges aspects of Mark VI Mod, Mark V, and HAZOP together into a blend that I'm really quite happy with. Although the mouth piece was kept by inspiration, as I've always seen it as a key part of what makes HAZOP what it is. There are a lot of helmets that have vents in some manner or another but only HAZOP seems as if it was designed with the CBRN attachment in mind. Also wow. Trying to get that point across required a lot of 'HAZOP' to be said.
Yeah, gungnir never really looked like a helmet at all, I always called it the toaster Was really confused when I found out some people really liked it
[ *Edit at End of Reply:* Infinite's GUNGNIR is more smooth, no details _nor ornation of Odin's Spear_ symbol, and _bigger triangle-chin_ parts... *_making it look like a beaver,_* 🤭 ] To be fair, the Blocky-Visor _(called a Blast-Visor)_ is an attachment that helps the Spartan link with the Spartan-Laser. A distinct reason that helps me feel more acceptable to it 😊... + being a *one of a kind helmet & attachment* and not something common-use on anything else... + _Named after the Spear of Norse-God Odin?! 😃 lol I _definitely_ get why people would not like it, still 🙂. Honestly, though? I *definitely don't like* how 'Halo Infinite's' strips the B-Visor's detail, which -make it look utterly boxy. 😕🤷♂️- [Again, *edited;* _It is less boxy... so that take what you will dear friend(s),_ 😅].
The gungnir is like one of those androids that have a uncanny neutral face. A machine with no emotion. Lol it has one eye but on its side making it lack symmetry so it looks like a machine trying to pass off as a hUmAn BeInG and it’s named after a weapon. The spear of Oden…or in this case the spear of the unsc. A weapon thrown by a god.
Fair ranking! Mine would have been similar. You just can’t get much better than the ODST and Mark V helmets. Video suggestion: Redesign Halo 4 and 5 UNSC ships to look more like classic Halo designs.
I really loved Security in H3, I think my spartan is still wearing that to this day tbh. I really enjoyed your redesign series, and can't believe you only have 24,7k subs! I hope that next project gets you some more exposure!
HOLY CRAP! HE'S GOT A FACE! 😱😱😱 Also, because you inspired me with your redesigned helmets from H5 vid, I reworked the C.I.O. helmet from to fit a bit more into what Infinite might have in mind for this helmet.
20 minutes of Wernissage doing his best to not discredit other artists work. Love this sorta content between the bigger videos - if you wanna expand your channel to keep it fresh go for it man!
The problem with the Military Police is that it's literally just a Marine helmet with a visor and mouthpiece shelled over where their faces would be. When it's on a marine you don't notice it as much because their faces make your brain predict where the rest of your head WOULD be. But when it's covered up you're brain has nothing to go off of, so it ends up looking like this lower than normal face region with no neck and a big-ass forehead. My personal favorite's always been the Operator helmet, mostly because of it always looked like the kind of helmet the brains of a spartan group would wear. A lot of emphasis on the forehead portion with the visor, while keeping the bulk to a minimum. But I do kind of see where you're coming from, the chin is a bit too distracting, it brings all the bottom lines of the helmet to a too narrow and straight portion, if it were instead replaced with a wider vented portion or flared out slightly like on the EVA it'd be a lot more pleasing.
JFO would’ve been my helmet of choice if all the attachments weren’t tiny little things on the upper “forehead” of the helmet. Instead, I rocked Operator, or more recently, GRD.
And I thought I was the only one that would put EVA in S tier. My appreciation of the design really comes from the fact that its delibratly "bland" and not boring. While we can't see their faces, the Spartan's character are reflected by their helemt's design (or as i put it "semblance of facial expressions"). But the EVA is just a blank slate, there's no emotion to express, you can't possibly make anything out of this big visor as if there's noting behind them to begin with; just like an grim reaper with its face under the hood engulfed by shaodws.
Your redesigned helmets to make them look like halo infinite style is interesting most armour in halo 5 is complex with extra detail but you make it more simple and more halo look. Halo reach armour I don't think they need improving. keep up the good work.
I love big visor helmets, but some can go overboard/not feel distinct enough. Which is why Reach Air Assault or Eva is prob my fav Halo helmet of all time lol. Tbh the Reach artstyle is just amazing, which is one of the resasons this vid is super interesting! Would love to see a redesign vid on your least favorite Helmets from each game!
FUN FACT: Emile's D34th's Head _(I write it like that to avoid YT-algorithm 😑)_ has roots to Military-Practices, with 2 in Polish and German distinctly using the term. Glad you didn't put Emile's on B-tier, cause _yeah, it's goofy _*_on-surface,_* but it's care and history to character and/or with *militaristic-roots* is what distinguishes it from 343i's helmet-concept and care like FOTUS, Pioneer, Venture, Foehammer, Legionnaire, Reaper, etc. 😊
Wow. Did not expect you to put EVA so high lol. I’ve had it equipped to my Spartan + blue visor since the minute I unlocked it on MCC. I’ve never taken it off since and I probably won’t. The blue EVA visor with my epic Orange cream (Orange + White) Armor colors just looks perfect and my Spartan looks so nice. Reach has PERFECT customization. Too bad I never got to play it too much on the 360 but I do remember unlocking a few armor parts back in the day.
I'm not really sure what to say about this, I pretty much agree on all of your placements for the helmets. But if I had to state my differences, I would put: Mk6 at S for obvious reasons, it's a great helmet EVA at B I never really got the whole "Fishbowl" helmet design since I first saw it in Halo 3 and I thought it was ridiculous Pilot Haunted and Emile's at B same reason as EVA I don't like the whole big visor designs or skull designs never have Military Police at B since it's the Marine helmet and I like the marines of Halo so much I rocked that helmet in the 360 reach days and until I got Mk6 on MCC But for the rest I pretty much agree, so that's pretty much it. Great video and I can't wait for the next one. Take care and see you in your next video.
I respect your critiques, but Operator has always been and continues to be my favorite Reach helmet. I think the three circle pattern above the visor combined with the tallness of it gives it a really slick and unique look.
EOD is definitely a favorite. It might be because it reminds of a stormtrooper, and well, I love star wars. Also the blocky and aggressive look, I like blocky things for some reason so. It just fits. Especially the lore on it, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, it's a bomb protection helmet. It just, works.
I think what I like about the operator is that it, is similar to the EOD, which is one of my favorites. The purpose in the helmet and the design is quite, utilitarian to me and looks like a workers helmet, something a bomb guy or technician would wear. It just, looks fitting for the name.
I like what they did with cqb in reach in terms of simplifying the imo overly complicated parts of the h3 design, but I think they should've kept the black top of the helmet and let the cheek tube things stick out more like they did in h3
my poor operator relegated to b-tier also there is a version of the akis helmet with the cool visor and an extra mouth piece which makes it look so much cooler.
The AKIS helmet with the respirator attachment looks like a Star Wars Scout Trooper Helmet, and that looks much better. Attachments in general make or break a lot of the Reach helmets. The UA attachments on the Mark Vb and the Grenadier make them great, while CQC needs the CBRN attachment to cover up the lip part and the Commando needs the extended brim helmet.
Ok on Grenadier, I don’t think that both of those black bits need to be removed, just the top on needs to be removed. By doing that it looks less cluttered and it retains more character than if both get removed.
tbh some of the color choice and attachments really make some of these helmets and it is a little weird seeing the two newer helmets with attachment variants among no other helmet attachments
It may be the mouthpiece attachments on both security and gungnir that really elevate them to a higher level for a lot of people, (including myself) and they were the last unlockable armour pieces besides haunted (at legend and mythic, respectively).
"Now time for the grenedier helmet" Me: ooo, boy there's my helmet! "now this may be controversial..." Me: Now i can understand, you need the attachments they make it so much better. Erases the 2 bits in the middle, places it in C tier Me: Ok, them's fightin' words. You put that Grenedier at least in A tier!
HAZOP is my favorite because It looks vaugely like a skull tastefully without being over the top edgy about it (I believe there's even early concept art showing Emile with it). I think it's interesting you call the black part the "mouth", wheras I always see that as a "chin": To me the "mouth" is the plated part between it and the visor (which even has a black "nose" bit at the bottom), with the vents/fins on the side even being evocative of the exposed teeth on the sides you see on a skull without lips blocking them from view. Pilot is a close second, and I also dig JFO and Operator (though I wish it didn't have the attachment on by default). I want to like EVA, and I do, but it's a bit too bulbouys for me and I miss the visor lines the H3 version had.
Hazop to me always looked best with the CBRN attachment. Like it was made for that attachment specifically. It's also the helmet that my personal spartan runs, using CBRN along side the Operator helmet's goggles.
I think it would be controversial but I think Halo Armour having stat bonuses would really be interesting and add flavour. I'd do it very very subtly though. Sniper focused gear gives you a little less recoil and more zoom with the sniper. Like in the single digits of percentage. More armoured suits buy you a fraction of a second of health, same for shield focus. There's all these helmets with interesting lore and in universe functionality we never get to play with. Imagine playing a full recon suit and having enhanced situational awareness calling out enemy locations for your tankier comrades to go bulldoze.
i wish the mk5b had the little black brim it had in concept art. there's a decal of mk5b helmet in halo infinite on Live Fire, like the scoreboard and on the wall at nest and it is from the concept art and has the black brim
I disagree on the JFO. I think the visor lines give it distinct eyes, similar to the Warmaster helmet. I think that line in the middle imitates a nose ridge, making that particular helmet feel far more human than the rest.
