To piggyback off of this question, I’d like to know if increasing the differential (via layout) has the effect of simply increasing the number of oil rings you would see on the bowling ball or does it also widen the space between those rings?

Never had a electrify solid but I do have an electrify hybrid it goes long and snaps back in to the pocket Same with the Electrfy pearl but the pearl has a stronger cover stock making it snap back harder. If I were to take a guess with the solid i think that it would just hook early.

Someone I know uses the electrify solid, it actually doesn’t hook much earlier than the normal electrify from what I’ve seen. Much more continuous hook than I would have expected tbh but it takes that turn down lane hard

I don't think d tang would mind me telling you to check out Luke Rosdahl's channel. I actually first heard of Darren's channel from Luke. He has great reviews on both camo and electrify. The camo is an absolute monster on house shot. Finally got rid of my Utah Ink that had a million games on it. Camo does everything the ink did but does it better. Camo is insanely versatile and forgiving. Electrify is like an IQ tour solid that actually has energy left so doesnt leave as many 10 pins. Mind you I took electrify polish off right away. I like it best at 3000 or 4000 abralon.

@@JeffWeselyan uh yes it is but Darren is sponsored by SPI so not gonna talk about motiv equipment. Any ball that has been out more than 2 years has to be good. Venom shock, phaze 2, IQ tour solid are probably the balls that have been out the longest.

Picked up my Helios the day it came out. Only thrown about 20 games with it so far. This ball is monster, at least for someone like me who throws at low rev rates and high speeds. The ball just moves so well, especially on house patterns. I can get away with a lot more than I use to with my RST X-1.

I love my Electrify Solid, it’s my house shot cheat. Just love the way it rolls and I can throw it from fresh to frame 10 in game 3.

170ave last year after back surgery and not bowling for 40yrs. Love my UFO Alert. Averaging 208 this year and rolled a 279 Sun, and a 688 in league Mon. Tuesday got my Track Stealth…a 690 out of the box with 15strikes in a row.

Threw an 811 with the camo last week. Once I knocked the shine off it has been awesome. Still clean up front even on the burn so I can throw it longer, surprisingly big backend motion

was that on dry lane? special oil? house oil after league play??? You're saying you got about 270 per game??? I need this ball then.

@@captainricco2777 It was during normal league play. Shot 274, 279 and 258 during that set, all with the camo. It works well for me on dry to medium oil and I rreally like it on fresh with the shine knocked off. I haven't thrown it as much the last month or so because our house shot has seemed a lot slicker which I am assuming is weather related. It is a great ball for the price though.

I throw the Hustle Camo (2H) and it has a sweet carry and I love it. I'm still newer to league bowling but the more experienced bowlers in my league have all been really impressed with it. It's a head turner ball for sure.

Dude this list is about perfect👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 The only thing (in my opinion) that I would change is the zen master being the best ball on the planet it is in my bag and so is the UC3 but other than that you have the same exact list as me.

I'm one of the biggest OG Idol fanboys you'll meet. I drilled a helios last week and HOLY MOLY is it strong. It has this crazy combination of traction and back end that I was super surprised by. It seemed to force me left really fast because of that. I think it'll tame down a little when the cover breaks in but for now, it's probably the strongest ball I've ever thrown in terms of traction AND backend. (I'm a 2 hander for reference)

Still learning the helios but it is consistent but once mid lane starts drying up it’s way too strong lol once I got around it consistently and rolled it forward it almost went to the “throw it anywhere” category. Love your tier list 💪🏾

The hustle camo is a great piece. It’s a polished solid but it rolls absolutely amazing. You should definitely drill yours.

Tang! Man, thanks for all the content! I am just starting to bowl again after about 15 years of not bowling, and WOW has this sport changed a lot. I am 51 years old and not sure where to start with what ball to purchase for me first ball or even what weight. Where would you suggest to start and how would you make this decision? I do play one handed and hook the ball well. I carried a 186 avg when I did play in leagues before. (if that info helps)

Great vid as always! I will say this. The hyped hybrid is kinda number 1 on my list. I'm gonna try to get back in the game after 6 years off. I really want a zen just not sure if I should drop that much money first ball back. I figure the hyped hybrid should work to get back into bowling form on house shots. I can always scuff it up with a pad to help it blend more. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm a lefty, medium ball speed, medium rev rate.

I have both the Roto Grip Hyped pearl and the Roto Grip Hustle Camo. Let’s put it this way…I put the Dark Code back in the bag and pretty much just throw these two balls. Absolutely love them both!!

Hustle camo is pretty solid. I don’t have one, couple of my buddies do. It’s a good piece for when the lanes are burned up and or maybe a shorter pattern. But If the pattern is short you’d just be using urethane anyway.

I got a hustle camo to replace my purple Idol when the lanes break down. I heard it would be a little weaker than the purple ball. Im sure by now you have thrown it but I do think its a great ball. keep up the good work. these videos are dope!

Back when I started bowling each of the manufacturers had one high performance ball. My first ball was a Johnny Petraglia Brunswick LT-48. A year or two later the Columbia 300 Yellow Dot came out and I got one of those. Now there are so many high performance balls from just Storm that it is near impossible to know which one to buy. You have to have a pro shop who knows your shot and your lanes and turn the ball decision over to him. Today the only thing I do is decide the ball weight, the grips color, and when I am going to buy another ball.

Where do they rate for you? We know you still take the Phase 2, Hyroad Pearl, and IQTS with you. What about the OG Hyroad?

Do a ranking list showing hook strength vs lane condition. So if lane is super wet what would you use? Wet front dry backend? Dry lane? Not great with one particular oil pattern but good in all patterns?

Typed out a whole thing disagreeing with most of your observations. Then I realized you bowl mostly sport. I bowl 75% ths and 25% sport. From that perspective, I agree with most everything. EXCEPT, I think Helios is an absolute nut. It shapes like a phaze 2, gets traction like zen master, yet it still has a TON of energy at the pins. It's everything that staffer hype boys love(you're not in that category). I haven't used P2 once since getting Helios.

Just got back into bowling and the ball ingrabbed getting back into bowling was the wine, ive never bowled with a pearl before and so far I enjoy it. Once I get some conaistancy back i think this ball will cover for my slower ball speed

I just got the Helios. I think it was 55x45 something don’t quote me on it. I don’t completely remember it was today before work when he told me what it was. The pin is over the ring finger but that’s with my pap. That thing can be thrown straight up and can hook the whole lane without flat 10s for me at least.

Hello, want to get back into bowling league. Use to be around 180 average 15 mph speed. It has been 8 years. Looking for a very versatile ball for for most conditions. I like to start more up the middle/right and work my way left as the lanes change. Looking into the Phase 2, Phase 3, Zen Master, Zen soul, Reality, polaris (love the looks), parallax, Jakal Flash. Any insight or suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I love this list. Very interesting. Though what are your thoughts on the IQ? The IQ Tour edition. I recently got it and honestly I fell in love with it. I am a 2 handed bowler and that ball on good oil is beyond insane. I’m curious on what you think of it. Also I realized the IQ has a significant upper hand to that of the Trend 2. It’s handling and hook potential as well as lane adaptation technology gives it a bit of an edge. I played with it on dry oil and outperformed the Trend 2. Lemme know what you think of the !Q !!

So, I am just now getting back into bowling. I used to use a 16 lb hammer (basic model). Due to injury, I am starting back with a 12 lb ball, but I'm on a fixed budget. Could you recommend a 12 lb ball, with a decent hook for less than $75?

Hey Darren! Just wondering... I've got a hustle RAP and it just isn't hooking like I want it to... would you recommend a pearl ball with a stronger core or a solid ball like the reality?? The hustle does terribly on long patterns, so lmk what you think is better, because idk what to do 😂

I got my girlfriend a 12lb hustle wine purely based on reviews, hype, and get color preference, but noticed it has a different, more basic looking core than the 14-16lb versions. How does this change things and does it essentially make it more similar to a Rhino or something? I’m hella new to bowling. Got myself a Rhino.
