we are trained in it in the US ARMY saved my life 3 times, when mastered unstoppable, so to SFC Venezuela (my Philippine instructor) thank you for saving my life!
@@NabilAbdulrashidComedy Kali techniques can also use with blades not just sticks. Our filipino soldiers here use Kali techniques using blades against blades.😎
Same goes for Marines. We did a joint exercise back in 2006 with Filipino Marines at Ft Bonifacio I think it was and they used Pekita Tersia Kali and it’s been more than handy when I’ve had a knife pointed at me
Saying you hope so is kinda dumb, look at a lot of the videos you see Older people, middle age, younger and even kids. THATS MULTIPLE GENERATIONS RIGHT THERE PEOPLE
I have trained in several martial arts and earned my black belt as well but when I trained kali that was by far the best training that I have ever had!! I get asked about what I believe is the best martial art to train in for self defense I immediately say kali without a doubt as far as my experience goes. It's helped my in so many ways I only wish that I could still train with it now and until I get called away from this rock!!
Arnis should be added to PE classes. I briefly trained on it when I was 8 years old at my school for a field demo. I wish I had able to continue training with it.
No... Kali should be taught only to few elected individuals without any derogatory record or if teenagers, only to those who got G.M.R.C. Kali is not for everyone to learn.
martial art; martial means "an act of war" art means the way, beauty. clarification lng po. it was from the greek word, Filipino martial arts was named by Master Dan Inosanto. by the way. its a good job sir/s
If anything drove the nail in for me with FMA, it was Paul Vunak describing the different fighting ranges. He mentioned that there is a subset of FMA where they *specialise* in biting - if that isnt hardcore, I dont know what is. Training with live blades is (obviously) hardcore martial arts, but biting into an opponents face says 'I'll do anything to be the one who walks away from this'. For those of us who've never been in jail, and have no intention of changing that, the question is whether we could look ourselves in the mirror after biting a chunk out of someone's face - whatever the answer, this is a warrior's art and none of the talk re 'sport Kali' changes that for me. Respect.
@@sherylaclo It is actually a subset of Dumog or Filipino grappling art. Even Bruce Lee suggested it while training with Western wrestling. He was asked what will he do if he was pinned down. He said that he is going to bite. Check out Dan Inosanto who contributed to Jeet Kune Do. And check out the Paul Vunark's comment on using Kino Mutai against Jiu jitsu.
What Adrien is true in every way! It may have been practiced solely for traditional war but there is no way we should forget our tradition! Modern days may not have the convenience with the fighting style of the old but the threat of death is looming whatever timeline you're in.
This martial art is mix of all asian martial arts combine to be effective in real combat in the past up until now use by army and police officers ... around the world its not about the moves but how your body reacts as a survival instinct
I would like to know where the place and if the older teacher gives private lessons. When I'll get back in the Phils. for vacation, would like to take some private lessons but from a good and expert teacher. Many claim to be an instructor but hard to find really a good one. l am practicing Krav Maga but I still want to learn the FMA because I am proud to be a Filipino. The battle of Mactan makes the FMA great and make every Filipino proud of KALI. God Bless us all
Johnny Day there's a lot in cebu man, but mostly the best teacher or school are not advertised and they don't have a conventional training room and specialy they don't speak fucking fluent english. Happy hunting.
All of them just means FMA/Filipino Martial Arts. Kali is what is known internationally. Arnis de Mano/Arnis is what it's called in Tagalog or for most Tagalogs. Eskrima is what it's called in Visayas and Mindanao. Some even call it Balintawak which is where the art originated or believed to have originated.
what is different about this form of Kali? I study Pekiti Tirsia Kali under Guro Jason, himself a student of Master Apollo whom is a direct student under Supreme Grand Master Leo Gaje Jr. From what I see it doesnt look different at all.
Very impressive and motivated art, thanks for the sharing, what is the difference between Arnis & Kali,if you don't mind and how we contact with you, thank you again.
kali and arnis are the same filipino martial art of stick and knife...Some styles prefer to be called Kali....Balintawak style prefer to be called ARnis and Eskrima...
Good day sir. I am currently teaching Arnis in my grade 11 class. Is there a way that we can invite you to come to our school and give our students a visit?
With no disrespect, Kali is Kali whatever school you are in to. If a school, like RRK or PTK is not available in your area, then try the ones which are available. Yes, there might be some rivalries in every school, just ignore them, because, at the end of the day, Kali is Kali no matter which school you came from.
That's true it's a shame no one know what arnis now is or even if I say I do sikaran arnis they always say what's that I have to always say it's like tkd.but with sticks and knifes >
@Padi dude, kali, arnis and escrima are the same. Though some schools prefer the sticks, but the discipline are one and the same. I don't train in a specific school, I was taught in the streets by baranggay tanods, i am not saying learning from schools is good or bad, rather, i just don't want to have a label.
@Padi sheesh, it's should be you who needs to know what your talking about. Abaniko is abaniko sinawali is sinawali. Doce pares is escrima, but they also use knives, and unarmed combat tecniques. PKT is Kali, but their moves are just like the other arnis/escrima/kali.
