I bet it was the Metallica cover you heard 😁Bob Seger has such a great voice! Give a listen to “Night Moves” it was always one of my faves! Love your musical journey and I appreciate being able to tag along!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
There was a period of time between the 60's and the 70's when long hair on a man was considered counterculture. It didn't matter if you wore denim and had a full beard. You were looked at by the earlier generation as a pinko hippie and not to be trusted.
It is impossible for Bob Seger to do a bad song. His voice is so distinctive , and he has such a gift in song writing. Not many artists are the complete package, and Bob Seger leads the pack. He is the music of my generation, and I am lucky.
Bob Seger found out he had throat cancer not long after he put out his song against the wind. He was told he’d never sing again. 20+ years later I got to see him in concert on his return tour. It was an amazing concert. At one point he forgot part of one of his songs while playing the piano (solo) and the fans were singing with him. They (we) sang so loud that he just kept playing and let the fans sing his song for him. The crowd never missed a beat or word! It was amazing and he was so overwhelmed by what happened after all those years away that he could hardly speak at the end of the song. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been too. The crowd sang every song with him after that.
Bob never had throat cancer. I knew that was a bogus rumor from the time I heard it as a young teenager. I also knew that if you played Stairway to Heaven backwards on your record player you wouldn't hear satanic crap. Come on, let's be a little more aware ...
At 65 I still can't ever get too much of Seger's music. Blessed to have seen him do this live I will enjoy watching you find out for yourself how great he is. Enjoy the ride.
The reason you don't know Bob Seger is because at the height of his career, he took 20 years off from music to *Be a Dad*... I have to respect that so much. He didn't want to hear about the milestones of his kid over the phone or something while he was on tour.
I understand his kids grew up, became teenagers, approached him and said, "Dad. You need to go be Bob Seger again." That's when he went back to his rock & roll career.
Have always loved him for that.. Steve Perry did something vaguely similar. He walked away to take care of his wife when she got sick. Industry lost all sense of family values too many years ago.. 😢
The muscle shoals guys said his first album he didn't have enough money so they made a hand shake deal he recommended 7 albums there and all these years later the deal still stands
Remember - this song is from the early '70s. A long hair band was going to get some shit in a typical truck stop. That's the way it was. This IS the original version of the song. One of the greatest songs of my generation.
Metallica covered this -- Seger's been a star since the 60's -- HUGE catalogue. Old Time Rock and Roll, Main Street, Night Moves, Feel Like a Number, Her Strut... and the woman or man comment was because for nearly all of his early career, Seger wore his hair long and much of conservative America at that time still held the opinion "no son of mine's gonna have long hair"
NO! The line "is that a woman or a man" isn't what you were thinking. Back in the 70's most if not all rock groups had long hair and would be touring through the Midwest and the bible belt where most men had some version of a military or close cropped hair cut. So they were trying to make fun of the group members with long hair.
Live bullet by Bob Seger and the Silver bullet band is probably one of the best live albums. In my opinion I’ve worn out cassettes eight tracks vinyl I’m from the Midwest man he really hit us.
Live bullet was thee best album. Every single song is golden! Burnt up plenty cassette back in the day! Live Bullet was also recorded Live at cobo hall in the 70's. Pure Magic
Bob Seger is a straight up legend! A deep dive is recommended, so many hits… Night Moves, Hollywood Nights, Old Time Rock and Roll, Roll Me Away, Sunspot Baby, Cest la Vie
Bob can go from a slow deep song like this to rockin his ass off on tunes like Her Strut, Betty Lous Gettin Out Tonight, Ramblin Gamblin Man, and others. Bob is a legend. His live albums are bar none some of the best live albums ever recorded.
The beautiful thing about this man was he was huge in the 70’s & 80’s then vanished like a fart in the wind just to stop touring like you did to raise his children and keep his identity from his kids till they were teenagers !! Could you imagine his children finding out how huge their father was ?? 🙏
Bob Seger is one of music’s all-time great storytellers. This one, Night Moves, Mainstreet, Hollywood Nights… and of course the great classic, Old Time Rock & Roll. And combined with Alto Reed’s sax, they’re hard to beat. (Also the guitar solo on Like A Rock - bloody hell, that’s a great solo.)
Bob Seger is just so good. He has many great songs....Mainstreet.....Roll me away....Fire down Below....Come to Poppa....Still the Same....Like a Rock.....Against the wind....NIGHT MOVES......So many GREAT SONGS
As an Over The Road truck driver with over 45 years behind the wheel, this song tipifies my life more than any other. Change a few words and you have my life.
There is only one Bob Seger!! And his Silver Bullit Band is just simply one of the best out there. Now Bob can play a mean piano and he plays guitar too. Bob Seger writes everything he records almost. He is a gem and his songs tell it just like it was back then. Listen to The Famous Final Scene, Against the Wind. Just listen to what his songs say. You will be hooked.
@@llGracell I think it’s my favorite too. The song just really tells a story. And honestly if you think about it someday or another we all will have a famous final scene. Like a guest that’s stayed to long. Take it calmly and serene, it’s the famous final scene.
I'm 66yr young and grew up with this music. The line is he a woman or man in a truck stop was because he and band members had long hair at that time. You need to check out his live version of this song, you won't regret it. Thank you for opening your heart, mind and ears to exploring so much music. 💜
Bob Seger - the Legend . I saw him in concert 1980, or 1981 - my date and I sat in the nose bleed seats - heard every word he sang. An amazing artist, amazing back up band- I was so blessed to have this experience- he is even better on stage- :)
Keep up with the Bob Seger. You won't regret it. He has a huge catalog of top hits. Incredible songwriter. You've probably heard many of his songs in tv, movies, commercials, and sporting events..try Like a rock, Night moves, Against the wind, Hollywood Nights, Fire down below, old time rock and roll, Her strut, come to poppa, Mainstreet.....on and on and on. He's the genuine article.
Bob is a musical legend. One of the greatest songwriters all time. His songs are so grand - great stories "Against the Wind" "Night Moves" "Main Street" "Shame on the Moon" His "Like a Rock" song is an anthem for tough hard-working men, and was the theme song for Chevy truck commercials for years.
Roll Me Away is another song you might like. Its about getting away and feeling free. Bob Seger toured forever. I grew up with his music. He came from Michigan and played in local clubs. I grew up in a town next to his. I was too young to see him before he became really famous but I've seen him in concert a few times as an adult. Anything from the Live Bullet album is awesome. The entire album is from a couple of concerts performed at Detroit's COBO Hall. That was one of my favorite albums. I wore it out!
The first time I heard Bob Segar, was mid 70's and he was on Saturday Night Live, performed Night Moves and I was in love. I am 75 years young and Bob Segar is still one of my favorites. Night Moves still gives me goosebumps.
This man’s voice could melt butter! 🔥🔥 I’m suggesting you react to Turn The Page, Original 1973, you will definitely be able to place yourself right into it 🤗
One of my favorite songs EVER!!! Heard it a thousand times over, and still not bored of it. It'll ride he test of time for millennial years from now... so many steal from the Greats, and you caught it... history does repeat itself, but it's nothing like the original... my favorite artist of All Time!!!
My first rock concert ! Just turned 16. It was at pontiac silverdome around detroit. He had a cold. He had to start this song 3 times but he toughed it out for us fans. He is sooo great!! Love his voice!!
Metallica put out a cover several years ago and it is very, very, very good! BTW Bob used to have the longest hair back in the day and the line about 'is that a woman or a man' was because of that, and that is what older people used to say all the time during the hair band days.He has a very big play book.I love 'Fire Lake ' and 'Old Time Rock & Roll '(you've probably seen the commercial where the guy slides into the room in his boxers and long sleeved shirt and lip syncs to this song: Tom Cruise) by him.
Growing up in Detroit I got to see Bob Segar countless times. He used to play local joints and even high schools. We had great bands in Michigan. MC5, Iggy (Pop) and the stooges, Amboy Dukes ( Ted Nugent, Savage Grace, GrandFunk Railroad, Frost, Brownsville Station, even the Alice Cooper band lived here. We hadso much fun. 😊
You have to go on the Bob Seger journey . His catalog is legendary. Try "NIGHT MOVES" next it's a Banger. Bob Seger feels every word he sings and you will too.
Alot of people have covered his song. But no one can sing it as good as Bob. They just don't have his soul! This song is one of the greatest of all times. Turn the paaaaage!
They are similar but! Bob was the original great!, That all since have identified.., touring musicians have been soothede and inspired!..,God bless Mr Seager!
I saw them do this at a stadium concert in the late '70s and they dimmed all the lights on the band except for one spotlight and when those awesome sax notes hit that night air they panned the spot up to the saxophonist standing on top of a speaker stack about 30' above the stage (I know because I built it) and that was one of those moments I will never forget. Hell still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
Please do Roll me away! It’s one of those that hit me in the gut. It’s the first song I heard when my father in law died. We had been taking care of him the last 2 weeks of his life. He was an outlaw biker and this song spoke of his soul.
Bob Seger is a OG.......Love this man. His music is intertwined throughout my life. The moments, the memories and the emotions linked to this band with my Father and my family are some of the most cherished possessions that I own. 5 concerts over 30 years. I am so blessed.
I grew up listening to Bob Seger, even before he was a super star. I’m from the Detroit area and Seger was a hometown star. Way back then, FM radio was considered “underground radio”. That’s where you’d hear Bob Seger. His first hit song in Detroit, which so many people haven’t even heard of, was called Heavy Music. It was 1967 and I was just 10 years old when I heard it on an older cousin’s radio. I’ll never forget it!!! At 10 years old, I became a hard rock fan!!! It was in 1968 when Seger became more well know with his song Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man. He had some great songs, and one of my favorites in 1979 was called We’ve Got Tonight. Omg, that song makes me cry!!! It’s so good. Check out his catalog. I believe he even wrote for the Eagles.
I love Bob Seger. He doesn't have a bad song. Always toured with top musicians. If you enjoy songs about being on the road Jackson Browne's "Load Out" is another very good one I think you'll relate to.
Bob Seger has a LOT of great songs. I envy you that you get to hear them all for the first time. Some great songs to start with include: Night Movies, Mainstreet, Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser, Roll Me Away, Old Time Rock & Roll, We've Got Tonight, Like A Rock, Hollywood Nights, Rock And Roll Never Forgets, Feel Like A Number, Still The Same, and Against The Wind. Great stuff!
Bob Seger wrote Turn the Page & Like a Rock. Like a Rock was in his 1986 album. 5 yrs later Chevrolet used it in their advertising campaign. You probably heard the music & lyrics on their tv & radio commercials. I just found your channel a few days ago. I just love your interpretations. I always learn something new. Thanks for sharing these songs.
I’ve seen Bob Seger 5 times since 1977. My friends and I have sat around many, many times singing along to this song together. It can give you goosebumps. Turn the Page is one of my all time favorite songs. I’m glad you are discovering it. 😊
One of my favorite singers, singing one of my favorite songs! You can never go wrong with Bob Seger! Night Moves, Still The Same, Old Time Rock & Roll, Mainstreet, Against The Wind, Like a Rock, Hollywood Nights, Fire Lake, and Her Strut are all awsome!
When I was a child my father worked with Bob at Chrysler making cars and would often go see him perform on the weekends in the bars in Ann Arbor Michigan when he was starting his career. I've always been jealous.
I grew up listening to this song. It is one of my all time favorites. I have even told my kids I want this played at my funeral. LOl This and "Freebird" are a must.
"That sounds sexy" - Opening this song with that sax gives me goosebumps every time. Love the sax, love the voice, love the lyrics, love the musical legend that is Bob Seger! Many thanks to you, BP, for keeping it real and not monetizing requests/reactions. The number of reactors that I follow has been declining as I watch the same people with limited preferences paying for reactions - noticing the not-so-authentic where money buys reactions that reactors think the people that pay them want. I would much prefer to see a genuine reaction to something regardless of whether I prefer the something being reacted to.
Really enjoyed your reaction. Bob Seger is a true legend. So many great songs. And nobody explained life on the road like he did in this song. Just keep going on the Seger journey. You won't regret it.
Anyone who spent much time working on the road can relate with this song. Another song anyone in their 40s would recognize from old chevy commercials "like a rock"
Bob Seger had super long hair at a time when that was not excepted for a man, so lots of snide comments from people when he was on the road. Love everything he put out. A one of a kind performer.
The Bon Jovi song about road touring is Wanted Dead or Alive- another great video for you to react to. Be sure to do the official video as it shows what touring is like
👏👏❤👏👏 Thanks for playing this song by Bob Seger. Fun memories with his music. I still have every vinyl album he released including the one with the cover you're showing. Stay safe
