You are so wrong!! The greatest music period were the golden age from 1955-1980!! Most of the music written, performed, and recorded by new bands after 1980 cont compare to the golden age, the twenty five years between 1955-1980!! I was born in 1956, I’ve heard it for the past 60 years, post 2000 you can’t be sure anything isn’t machine produced as opposed to human talent!!
Fantastic song! Listen to their song “Kyrie.” It comes from “kyrie elesion” which is from the Greek & means “Lord have mercy!” BP, here’s an idea. Do a survey about how many people just listen to reactions vs how many people also go to the original artists websites, like, subscribe & listen to their stuff.
@@karensamuel1139 I’ll tell you, in another 20 years, music from the 70’s & 80’s will be getting way more playing time than most of the stuff made today.
A prof down at the b-school has been researching this and while the exact numbers taking using aggregate analytics are embargoed until publication, the qualitative answer is "vanishingly small" - essentially Don Henley is doing the smart move, as well as AC-DC and Metallica. Even for lesser acts blocking would be smart were the costs of enforcemment lower.
Train gave Mr. Mister a huge shout out in the chorus of their monster hit "Hey Soul Sister" ("ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo; they way you move ain't fair you know")
Yeah!!! Mr. Mister! An awesome '80s rock band. Their album "Welcome To The Real World" is great!. Two singles from the album, "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie", topped the US charts, while "Is It Love" peaked at number eight. "Kyrie" is an absolute F**king banger of a song!!! Takes me back to by college days man....
All the 80s groups that were forgotten about really. Sister Christian is a fav of mine. Some other less familiar ones are randomly here…38 special’s If I’d be the one and You keep running away. So many forgotten oldies.
Pegasus, you crack me up with your reactions 😂😂 It's such a great joy to see the look on your face when you're finding out for the first time that 'a lot of the versions you are familiar with, are just remakes or covers', and to see your face when you get to hear where these remakes and covers come from! I'm truly enjoying this reaction 😊😊
me too! Majority of singers after the 80's with exceptions like Phil Collins, Journey, Richard Marx, and others, can't think of their stuff so they steal or copy from the original talent BECAUSE IT'S SOOOOO GOOD!
Yay!!!!MISTER Mr.. check it. My dad is a Ret. Army Medevac Pilot. He was gone for months at a time. The first 5 years of my life. When i was 3ish. I was convisted this guy was my dad because of the part in his hair and the sunglasses. Sat mornings back when VH1 did a countdown. My mom would play it while doing house pick up things. And i called him daddy every time. Lol
I just wanted to say thank you to you, your mom and dad for giving so much. Sometimes people don't realize how much is given for our freedom and your memory shows how much families give for the rest of us 💞
@@bkm2797 Thank you. It was not always easy, but things like MR Mister, and music from this era always bring some good memories of my mama, and how much she loved music. I can find a beautiful memory that makes me smile just by hearing 1 song that takes me back. :) ❤ She raised me on so much good music. When I was like 8 I wanted to marry Daryl Hall. Lol I can see her singing to Bob Segar in the kitchen when we lived in Germany. So much music and happy times. 😊
ms.lisamarie82 Yes your mom had good taste in music, and I can definitely see why you fell in love with Daryl Hall even if you were only 8,lol, their music certainly puts a smile on your face and happy dance in your feet. So glad you remember the good in those times as well, it's important.👍💕
Speaking of Glenn Frey, you would love his “Smugglers Blues”. Do the official video because it is basically a 5 1/2 minute movie. Do it when Don is in with you.
I clearly remember this being one of my favorite songs during my senior year in high school. I love it to this day. Then I'm a HUGE Tupac fan, and when they put out UNTIL THE END OF TIME, it was sooooo good that for the first time I actually thought that Tupac was still alive.
P, all these 80’s classics you’re reacting to are complete nostalgia! I’m your age, but these songs were always on the radio in our house or in the car. Sundays were “scrub the house” days and the music was always on, so these take me straight back to my childhood. I love it. ♥️
I've always loved both this song & Kyrie by Mister Mister. Richard Page is lead vocalist. I think those were their only big hits, but they're timeless great songs.
One of my top 5 80’s songs. Fantastic voice. Fantastic sound. Gives me goosebumps still. 👌🏼This song sounds sooo good on a good stereo or in the car. The bass hits. Phenomenal song!! Glad you really enjoyed and appreciated it!! 👍🏼 Tupac appreciated great music too.
I love this song released in 1985. I love Mr. Mister! They were a cool band with their own sound! Glenn Frey and Don Henley, both Eagles, had very successful solo careers in the eighties!❤❤
I saw Mr Mister in 1986 at Alumni Hall in London Ontario Canada. Jim Foster was the opening act and the concert was great! I ended up with a piece of a towel that was thrown into the audience. I still have my tshirts from the concert.
When I was a kid my mom would tape hours of Video Hits which was a Canadian tv show that played music videos and interviews from all sorts of 80s artists. Thanks to my mom I have a time machine of 10 VHS tapes full of music and tv commercials from my youth.
When this song came out i was about 6 years old, i really loved this song and i could sing it from front to back, and i'm Dutch 😊 Always brings me back to my childhood ❤
As an old broad, who was in college when this song came out, I freaking love watching you recognize one of my favorite songs because it was sampled by someone. That is the greatness of music. Just because it was produced with one thing in mind, doesn't mean it cannot be repurposed and still be great. Thanks for your channel, man, I really enjoy your reactions.
Was lucky enough to see Mr Mister in concert in 1985.. it was a fantastic concert. Especially, since they were the opening act for Tina Turner on her Private Dancer tour. The greatest live performance I’ve ever attended in my life. She was a Goddess!
Yes, I agree. It's about healing brokenness. And be able to fly free again. Sadly, some people will never fly free because they are boxed in by societal norms. They are stuck and trapped and imprisoned. Yet, they don't seem to realize, that they hold the key to their freedom.
One of my favorite songs from the 80s!! Still just crossing songs off my list left and right! 😁 Side note....U should do everything that came up on ur suggested videos!!
Absolutely amazing song - so takes me back to high school. And all those recommended songs are fantastic. And yes - Glenn Frey of The Eagles had several great solo tracks!
Nice surprise to see you checking out Mr. Mister today. The singer/bass player, Richard Page, was offered the gig in Chicago to replace Peter Cetera, but turned it down to give his band here a shot. Could say it paid off as they had two number 1’s in this song and “Kyrie”. You absolutely need to check out “Kyrie”. They should have had continued success with their next album, “Go On…”, but the record label really dropped the ball.
They had a moment, and it was huge. Lead vocalist Richard Page has released some great solo stuff that most people have not heard. Like you said, the dude can sing.
Bruh this has always been fire. I used to rock out with my moms and sing this with her. Got me in my feels. Thanks for doing all the throwback stuff. God bless
BP welcome to the 1980's music time capsule (including the '50's, 60's and 70's). As you go on listening to music of our generation, you'll find that a lot of rappers got their beats, lyrics and other musical ideas from our generation of music. That is why our music is the best and it is timeless. Thanks for researching and finding out the facts when some of the songs sound familiar to you. Keep the greatest music of our generation alive. Love your channel.
@@AncientActivistall due respect, that's wholeheartedly false. Sampling is as old as recorded music almost, and a lot of rap asks and speaks on some very serious issues. You must have heard the crap glorifying drug and alcohol use and abusing others, try stuff speaking on real issues. Kendrick Lamar, Nas, post 2005 Jay Z, post 2005 Eminem.
@@AncientActivist i apologize if what i wrote came off as disrespectful or putting you down, I've just heard people say that before and they're talking about the druggy rappers, not knowing some real lyricists and poets exist and speak on cultural and national issues. Have a good rest of your day.
I'm a teacher and during my first year teaching [1996] in the NYC area [South Ozone Park], a kid was called to the office. The kid's name: Mister Mister. So now as an adult, people refer to him as Mr. Mister Mister.
This was my favorite song of theirs, and their biggest hit, but Kyrie was a close second. And yes on Cutting Crew and I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight. That's a good rec from RU-vid that I heartily approve of.
Another 80s tune to check out: I Believe in You by Stryper. The lead singer’s voice is AMAZING! And 40 years later he’s still got it! Thanks for the wonderful reactions, I appreciate you.
Love ur channel. That aside u don’t just react u interpret the music. I been listening to this stuff for decades and never knew what half of these tunes were bout. Rock on
When I was a kid I got the entire bands autographs when they were up and coming. They played a concert at the fair in Memphis and did an autograph signing. I've since lost said autographs at some point in my life.
I saw them in concert in the 80's. They opened for Tina Turner. That was a good concert. They had a great sound and were tight. Tina sounded and looked great though. Good stuff Mr. Pegasus. I have now subscribed and will get all of your notifications. I'll get a feel for things and decide what to do next with your channel. You would like their song, Kyrie.
The 2 artist recommendations you looked at, at the end of the video, I highly recommend: Cutting Crew "I'VE BEEN IN LOVE BEFORE" (original video) and Glen Frey (from the Eagles) solo song "YOU BELONG TO THE CITY" (original video) is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of my favorite bands of the early 80s. If you watch Andy gibb (yes Bee Gees little brother) i just want to be your everything - you will see Richard and Steven (from Mr Mister) on piano and keyboards and singing backup. Then yes do the Glenn fry song you belong to the city. One of the best sax solos you'll hear
These guys were amazing; this album was totally excellent, as well as the follow up. Pop mixed with Soul mixed with Electro and some Rock and Gospel tossed in.
Lead Singer, Richard Page, has worked with MANY great artists, he was also asked to front Toto as well as Chicago, both he turned down. But when you realize many of the Mister Mister songs have religious basis and focus, they all make more sense.
I love your channel. I have yet to see a reaction to a song that hasn't:spoken to me"in my life. The music I loved(and still do)my whole life, and watching you and your friends just discovering it is kinda like experiencing it for the first time myself
Yes, all the Eagles had solo hits. Glenn Frey had the theme to Beverly Hills Cop 1 - “The Heat Is On”. Then the theme to BHC2 was done by Bob Seger (not an Eagle) - “Shakedown”. Both are 🔥
There’s a brilliant live version of this at The Ritz in 84/85, sounds even better than the recording. I watch it often, his voice is unbelievably good!!
These guys have a bit of a spiritual/religious quality to their music. Check out Kyrie for sure. Also, similar sound from that era is Corey Hart, “Never Surrender” and “Sunglasses at Night”
I cant believe you've never heard this song before, you clearly lived in a hip-hop only bubble. Im only a few years older than you and i heard this all the time growing up, i literally just heard it today on the radio.
Yes that was Glen Fry of the Eagles. After the Eagles split up Joe Walsh started a successful career as a solo artist. Glen Fry(R.I.P.) soon followed with his own successful solo career then Don Henly came on the scene as a solo artist as was the most successful of the three. I strongly urge you to check them out.
