Raptor R Update | Ford Emailed Me | WTF Is Going On? 

My guess is having both the TRX and Raptor R will be best for YT videos because you’ll be able to constantly create comparison videos of the two. Not many RU-vidrs have the top two trucks available to constantly make videos on.

Definitely wanna see TRX vs raptor R. Wouldn’t make sense to have 2 raptors honestly but hope you figure it out man

If you get the Raptor R you need to do some serious off roading videos with it. Take it out to some hard courses and put it to work.

Trx values are dropping fast

I had Charger Scat Pack Widebody and same feelings. Outstanding sound, just couldn't be better (maybe with supercharger) but also I hated driving it. Jerky, jumpy on bumps, felt heavy and annoying. Traded it in for Kia Stinger GT2 AWD (I prefer sedans boyz) and feels so much better for daily driving. Stable as heck, faster on the red light even lacking 100hp! And has tons more features. Plus, its not the number one stolen vehicle in Michigan 😮‍💨

I appreciate the realistic point of view you offer mike, certainly refreshing. Some channels show the bright side of everything, but the choices a real life guy gotta make are real. Good stuff man

Keep the Raptor for your wife-that’s HER truck. Lose the TRX. You’ve had it a while, it’s missing the options that are important to you and like you said, the novelty has worn off. You’ll enjoy the Raptor R much more than the TRX, anyway.

The R looks better, sounds better, and is better as far as I've seen so far from videos, drag races on pavement doesn't mean a thing

Getting rid of your wife's Raptor makes no sense.....it's hers. Getting rid of it to satisfy your needs is a wee bit harsh because you'll have all the vehicles you like to drive because you got rid of the one vehicle she likes. Anyhoo, love your content, don't get rid of the Raptor✌🏾

I'm sure you know this wise old phrase, "Happy Wife, Happy Life", so I would just leave her with her current Raptor. The R might be just a little too wild for a daily driver IMO, not to mention even taller I think its 37's only. And the fuel economy will be way worse for her. Plus she wouldn't want any loud exhaust on it like you like.

I'd trade the trx personally.

Mike, I think making an overall comparison video between your current Raptor and TRX would be a good idea. Yes the TRX is faster but getting an idea of what that margin actually is would be interesting nonetheless. Also an off road comparison test. Maybe if you could get both trucks in the sand (or just off-road) somewhere and test the performance of each. Just an idea.

Good video!. Couple things I'll say about that Rator R and TRX drag race. Like you said, the Raptor R doesn't have launch control so that's what helps the TRX. Plus in the video they only showed them do it once the guy in the Raptor R could have had a bad launch. I did read an article where motor trend said the Raptor R they reviewed did 0-60 in 3.7. they said the best they ever got a TRX to do was 4.1. if I remember correctly the Raptor R did a 12.1 quarter mile and the TRX did a 12.8. Even if the TRX turns out to be faster I still ordered a Raptor R. That's funny. The same emails I got .Good luck 🙂

Sell the ram because the one you have as you know is badly optioned. Get the R and compare with the regular raptor for content and if you don't like the R sell it for a fully loaded trx

I have both 2022 TRX and 2021 Raptor 37 and the TRX hands down rides better as well as the suspension is better let's not even go with how overpriced the Raptor R and it you take the 60k savings you could have a 1200 HP TRX with 37 and a lot of money left...

IMO if you can get the MSRP Raptor R then get it, replace it with the current Raptor, make RU-vid content, and you may sell it later for a profit if you prefer TRX.

I'm tired of seeing the Ford pickup content myself.After you had the last Ford and did all the up grades but still lost to the TRX I dont know why you would get the RR its basically what you had in your last ford.Getting the RR and also having the TRX seems a bit redundant . Maybe see how your wife feels about getting something else maybe a Bronco for you to build or just get rid of the TRX for something other then the RR

I don’t think that truck is going to be worth that. Market is falling and quick the over msrp is going to be a thing of the past as interest have skyrocketed. Just my though process most are saying wait a year and right now is the worst time to buy. Just what I have read. Thing the car market will collapses as these new older trucks missing chips will eventually flood the market.

Those emails are auto generated by Ford every 45 days after you have placed an order. I get them too on my R order. It means an allocation hasn’t been given to your truck yet. With no allocation associated to your order, you will continued to get those and it will never get built. You’ll have to re-order for the 2024 model year as it won’t roll over unless you are given a production date. Hopefully you get a second wave allocation as most first wave allocations are now scheduled for production already and customers have been given a VIN and production start date.

Let your wife keep her truck and get rid of your ram and get your raptor… easy easy decision.. your wife loves her truck, don’t take that from her..

Once you sit inside the fully loaded, brand new Raptor R and then drive it, the TRX is going bye bye.

Auto hold feature in the Raptor R has to be used to get the best launch off the line. The first reviewers didn't know about this feature when they raced the TRX.

Keep your wife happy! Even if TRX looks very cool,don't keep it.. it's a little bit more heavy duty vehicle

Pro Tip....If you drive the TRX in Snow Mode and use the paddle shifters to control the RPMs you'll get close to 13-14mpg

Mike, Long time fan! I would certainly take delivery of the Raptor R specially buying at sticker. I would drive it a bit do some content and then if you are not happy with it, sell for possibly some profit, get another TRX since there are a bunch now for sale at sticker or less. I would keep the Raptor and the Raptor R. I like the looks of the Raptor better than the TRX also I want to get a Raptor R myself but I refuse to pay over sticker for it. I already have a 2021 Gt500 so I would like to have both the GT500 I've got the Whipple and all the parts needed to upgrade it just haven't had time to get it installed. That being said the Raptor R can be pushed to probably close to 900 wheel hp without a lot of trouble!

Last on my list would be drag times especially when they are so close. I'd much rather have the Raptor R simply because it's a more refined truck in my opinion with better suspension and ride quality like you mentioned. Stock 37s and not having to worry about rubbing which is common when people try to do it themselves. Frame has actually been modified to fit the 37s which is awesome. I"ve had loud vehicles in the past so it's not my number one priority these days guess I've grown out of it. The loud drone on long trips is super annoying. Looking forward to you getting your Raptor R

Keep in mind the 37”s hurts the Raptor off the line a bit, but from A roll is not really a factor (which TFLs vid proves) BUT in exchange for a lil hit off the line the 37”s are superior off-road, look badass, & soak up bumps better/cushier ride on road

I hate to say it, but I think the TRX would be a better decision to let go of than the regular Raptor. First of all, you cannot get a Raptor in that colour anymore since its now discontinued, its your wife's dream truck and like you said, you prefer the way that it drives comparing to the TRX. Then you could put a nice exhaust on it like you always do, and maybe find a way to bump the power on it since it uses the Predator engine which is known to be able to make crazy power, just ask Street Speed 717 since his GT500 that he had made about 1000whp no problem.

I’m curious to see a comparison between the regular Raptor and the Raptor R… how much quicker is the R vs the OG… 0-60, 1/4 mile, 30-120??… Keep up the great work and I say keep the TRX!

Why have 2 raptors?

All things aside something had to be up with your supercharged 5.0 to not beat the stock TRX. The TRX runs approximately 12.5 at 108 in the 1/4 mile. A well tuned whippled 5.0 should be mid 11’s AT LEAST.

I've always liked your channels for the mods. Why buy a truck you don't plan on doing too many mods to? The TRX didn't make much sense either. After you lost that race you should have gone back in to the lab and made some new mods instead of jumping ship on your build and copying the one who beat you.

I received the same emails for my 2022 F150 Tremor order. Ordered it in March and told it would be 3-6 months. By October, it was still not delivered. The Dealer was able to track down a bit more info than I could. They said it was built and sitting in a lot waiting for a microchip. I ultimately decided to cancel the order and purchased a 2022 Lariat FX4 that was on the lot. Now I am seeing the 2023 Tremor will have the V8. So maybe a trade-up in the future if I can get one!

For content i it's clear i think: Raptor R and TRX is best for comparison vids. But for you guys personally i think it makes the most sense to have the "normal" raptor with either the R or TRX. So then u have de raptor that is still very cool and capable but also is a lot easyer on gas. So if you're gonna make like a very long trip u can take the Raptor. And if you have the luxury: Keep the 3 trucks for a little while to compare the R and TRX for real for yourself AND content and i think only THEN you will be able to really choose.

What supply chain issues? Its a Raptor with an Engine from a mustang GT500. Same trans and computers as the mustang and raptor. The only difference is a few suspension changes. Nothing there is constrained by supply chain. They are just slow.

I got an email on 11/17 stating that my Raptor R is scheduled to be build the week of 12/19. Hope yours will be scheduled for production soon!

Wow, the mentality in the truck community is so idiotic. Is like who has the biggest D, c’mom man, IF YOU WANT TO GO FAST GET A FAST CAR, still a “TRUCK”. They aren’t meant to go fast or be quick. Do it right and get a 911, z06 gtr, gt500 ect. I have 2020 raptor and is good enough with the v6 turbo charge for a truck. If I want to go really fast and show off ,I would get my other car out my garage 😂🤣

In my opinion, Mike 1. Don't trade your wife's Raptor. It's hers. 2. You're a RU-vidr, so get the new Raptor R. All the add ons, put them all. 3. Trade your TRX to a high end TRX. 4. Make a comparison. Drive them. For sure you'll have a lot of viewers and comments. Thank u.

I don't like how running boards look on my Truck (not a TRX) so thats why I went with AMP running boards. Look them up. Your wife will love them on the TRX and you will start driving the Raptor more because your wife just took your TRX because of the AMP running boards. ;-)

Don't trade either. Pick up the R, make a BUNCH of real-life comparison content, get a bunch of views, a bunch of money, then decide which to sell or "giveaway". Not a whole lot of decent comp content out there. Not a fan of the TRX at all except for the drivetrain while the Raptor (had a 2019) with the Fox live valve suspension that made it all the more fun. If you were looking at a Ferrari or R8 I get the "drag race" reasoning, but the Raptor crushes the TRX in off roading and just about everything else. WAY more comfortable interior in the Ford as well. Just my opinion.

There will be tons of TRX vs R on youtube soon I'm sure. As a TRX owner myself, can tell you the R will be a "wow" factor to V6 owners who aren't used to the supercharged V8 experience. Already owning a TRX you won't feel anything new that grants you buying it. You get the R now you and your wife will be driving 9mpg trucks. I drive my TRX on weekends and find the MPG ridiculous. Not the cost so much but the constant filling at tge gas station. Supercharged V8s aren't regular trucks, they are supercars with room for more seats. They are unpractical. I would say keep the V6 and the TRX or sell the TRX and get the R.

Just received confirmation from Ford that my Raptor R was built and should be arriving at my dealer between January 20, 2023 an‍d January 26, 2023. Happy New Year!!!

3:54 Well that's the thing about Ford that is better. The Raptor comes equipped fully loaded, it's the top trim level, right? The TRX should also come with everything because it too is the top trim level but Dodge sucks and doesn't understand that. It's the same with the Jeep Cherokee. Limited is Jeep's highest trim level, but the Cherokee doesn't even come standard with Adaptive Cruise Control. I searched on CarMax and found only 46 out of 250 Jeep Cherokee Limiteds had adaptive cruise control, you have to opt for that. The Ford Escape Titanium however, DOES come with that and heated seats, and heated steering wheel and even a trailer hitch. The only thing "optional" is the panoramic sunroof. Ford just gets it. I can't see you getting rid of the Raptor, since that's your wife's truck, unless you are giving her the new Raptor R in her favorite color too.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to buying the Raptor R when I have the Raptor with the Roush package. Is it worth it??? I did get an email from Ford that the R will be built on Jan 2 2023 and I'm also at sticker price for 112k. What to do? I do have my 2022 Shelby GT500 Heritage, so it will look nice bhut what do you think?

Get rid of that POS Ram. It's only a matter of months before stuff starts to fail on it. Keep your wife's Raptor!! 1. It's HERS. 2. It's WAYYY more reliable.

I say get the Raptor R to compare with the TRX but the TRX is hands down a better truck and even those who review that I know personally have said after driving the Raptor R that its not up to the TRX Level...Now yours is not loaded so your missing several goodies and even with all the goodies is soooooo much cheaper to a lesser truck in the Raptor R and I have had many F150s as well as a 2021 Raptor 37 I still have that I hardly drive cause of how much better then TRX is and I swore I would never own a Ram product and boy am I glad I did...I even changed all my company trucks to Rams from F150s...Ram makes the best truck for sure...

I would personally keep the TRX and get the Raptor R. But it comes the question do you really wanna pay what 150,000ish or more with mark ups for the Raptor? I’ll never understand how the V6 raptor is literally the same price & more than a TRX. Both are great trucks in unique ways. But ford imo needs to fix their pricing because they are way too high.

Honestly, selling the TRX would be like selling gold to buy silver. The Raptor R will lose value as soon as they produce them like they're supposed to. That's why they're slow rolling them, just like Chevy. TRX will only increase in value cause they're pretty much done. I would keep the 2 you got and focus on the Audi and supercars. That's better for your channel anyway.

Enormous videos about normal Raptor and TRX blablabla. Everyone is saying the 3.5 Raptor drives better than a TRX. But so far, just no one, NO one actually puts how these two handle speed bumps at different speed into a video. For a real buyer who just wants the most comfortable truck for daily, it’d be the most important comparison. Just not seen one yet.

I wouldn't even go for the Raptor R. Leave the cars as they are. Shmee's GT500 consumption is below 10MPG usually anyways.
