The ford raptor has had SO MANY issues with the frame bending off little bumps jamming the bed into the back of the cab I would never pay for one. The RAM in this video/situation kicked its ass.
Well the SVT Raptor is also a factory production, not a tune like the Ram Runner. So voila, I'm sure there are tuners who would lift and give a better suspension/clearance to the Raptor. Like he said, it's not an 'apples to apples' comparison.

That Ram Runner destroyed the Raptor on that off road course. He never got out of it in the Ram where as he slowed down several times in the Raptor. That said though I can definitely see just in how the suspension is set up that the Raptor would be a much more comfortable truck on the road, which, let's be honest, is where you'll be spending at least 75% of your time even if your a big time off road guy. Id still take the Ram Runner cause unlike most people I'm perfectly fine with vehicles that aren't street friendly. Just adds more character to the drive in my opinion
ram runner package can be installed on any ram 1500 2011 or later it cost 12,000 for the full package it doesnt mean u have to buy the 56000 dollar longhorn ram truck before the package
so if you want a daily driver get a raptor, might as well an f-150 same thing, if you want something that is closest to an actual pre-runner get a ram runner, Ram-Runner is better in my point of view
To everybody saying "the Ford keeps hitting its front bumper but the ram doesnt." That might be because the Ford ACTUALLY HAS A FRONT BUMPER! Not an off road high clearance bumper like the Ram Runner.

You can't beat the Ford Raptor! I think it would have been a little fairer if they jacked the Raptor up closer to the height of the dodge. But this seemed more like an right out of the factory test. But Ford all the way for me!

Not saying this to be a smart ass, just informing you. Most likely a RamRunner won't be in a near Chrysler lot, but you can find a Raptor in a lot if you're lucky.

I love the Raptor. Went on a three day trip from Toronto to Calgary with at least 700lbs in the truck bed and this beauty still went beautifully. Not to mention, this thing is awesome on gas considering it's a damn 6.2L. The off roading part was all right , it just needs a higher suspension, but the Raptor is worth every damn dollar spent on it for sure.
A much as i love Raptor i have to say it got seriously humiliated over the bumps here, they had to go really slow where the Runner went fast with no effort, like a true champ. This is why some say Raptor is for soccer moms, it looked like a fish on land in this run. I love how Raptor seem to oversteer though, not the best for pushing good lap times but its so damn fun to drive that way.
Dodge fans calmmm down its ok to loseeee...... the ram may look cool but rides like shit and u will get tired of it after 3 months always hearing wheel noise and having horrible sterring. The raptor is a good work truck and weekend beater..... u can drive the ram runner in a desert to work can you? Every professional who did this review the raptor won just look at motertrend!

Raptor carries spare wheel under the tray! It's stock from factory WITH wArranty. Ram runner is just an aftermarket lifted truck which ANYONE can do. It will suck to live with compared to the ford. Ford raptor......best truck EVER

It's pretty clear the Raptor is an Offroad truck for the guy how doesn't really do much offroading, while the ram is actually an offroad truck for the guy who has a car for daily driving.
Dodge may be far more pricier but as he said a better offroad truck that being said I wouldn't mind a raptor but I would by far prefer the ram runner but I have also always been a Mopar fan either way they are both good trucks so any of you guys bitching about which is better wtf is the point

You are a ford truck fan, yes? the fact of the matter is, not talking moneywise because yes the dodge is more expensive so dont act like i dont know, but each truck has several strengths and weaknesses that make them both equal overall. one may succeed in one way, and the other in a different way. The only way you can say one is better than the other is about which build you support
The hemi doesnt give up after 100k unless you redline it for 50k of the miles. Not arguing with you, but the fact of the matter is the hemi is stone cold reliable. thats why it has a 40,000 mile longer powertrain warranty than the ford. For ur money, if u do a lot of on road driving, i c why ud pick ford. but offroad the ram runner is the champ, although i agree the raptor DOES NOT sound like shit

Please be sure to post the performance Modification's on each vehicle and the year of the vehicle so we know for a fact that it's a fair test. Also the gasoline you use can affect the performance of the vehicle. Average stock Ram Runner-Ram 1500 is 380 horse power. Average for a Ford Raptor not SVT just says for raptor is 360-390 horsepower. And on an off-road test for best results do not use 4 wheel drive because rear wheel drive-RWD will increase sway adding more power to the rear axles. Just saying your there is no way your going to get the best results using unfair techniques-advantages. Also show us pictures of the inside of the vehicles to prove your not using high performance upgrades-modification's. there better now, my 2000 went through 3 in the 2 years i owned it. ive got 98000 on a 2009 ram with zero problems and i beat the shit out of that thing!
both these trucks are awesome, i love the rams and especially the ram runner, however i think what people on here are forgetting is that the ram doesn't come from the factory like this where as the ford does, hence the ram is more suited for offraod than road driving and the raptor is pretty equally suited for both, now that being said, not trying to get anyone butthurt, but with a few modifications to make the raptor more suited for off road(like what has been done to the ram) i think the raptor would blow the doors off the ram, could even be something as simple as a lift kit ( only problem i really see is the clearance because the raptor is so much lower)

not trying to get into an argument, but if you wanted something specific or custom, couldn't you just do the same thing to a base model f150 or any model for a similar price?(i know fords are a little more expensive but close to same range) i know ford doesn't make a kit like the ram runner, but i know you could still get parts to make a pre runner type vehicle, and i don't think its a matter of respect as much as it is business, at least where I'm from I've probably seen 200 raptors to 1 ram runner
I'm down in texas where every other truck is either a pre runner(mostly raptors), or sitting on 35s to 54s, i don't have anything against any of them, i love all these trucks( manufacturers) and respect for everyones build, but ill admit i am in a slight bias towards ford, but i sure as shit would take a ram in a heart beat, or a silverado, but ford and dodge are are my top preferences
i have owned an 05 and 09 f150 and a 12 ram and now a 16 ram rebel and loved all my trucks but honestly RAM has come along way in the research and development of their current models it gonna take a major problem for me to switch brands yep you guessed it Ford fucked me and so far I've been impressed with the RAM brand .seriously know what I saw and the video and the raptor got schooled. this was a desert duel not a road test. looks like the raptor is just a glorified Street brute to bully base pickups on the street. but on the dirt we just seen the bully of off road and thats RAM RUNNER. If the dodge was just as short it might have been just as harsh on those larger bumps. But We won't know until someone does it with the same tire spread.
First, the raptor has 3 perches, and the one in the video appears to be on low perch. I know because my parents both own one. Also, the ram runner costs roughly 16,000$ more. Use that for a ADD bumper and some 35's on high perch, the raptor wins. Not to mention saving a few bucks
I think it's fairly obvious one is built to be sort of a hybrid offroad/on-road vehicle, and the other is more of a pure off-road setup. One is a kit, and one is factory production. Both are nice trucks in my book, but if I wanted a truck that could do hardcore off roading with ease, and at a fairer price I'd buy a lightly used Ram Express for around 25k and have the Ram Runner kit installed. Nothing against the Raptor, it's an awesome truck as well, but it's much more expensive right out of the gates.
I will say, they are both very good looking and from what it seems great driving vehicles, I am partial to the RAM, but the Raptor looks amazing too, from many reviews, the Raptor is better for an overall daily driver and the RAM is better for high speed Chicane and overall off-road that being said if I had the money I'd buy both.
The Raptor failed miserably.. it looked like a pogo stick bouncing over minimal whoops. That's the kind of truck you buy your son in High School to take his sweetheart to prom in.. The Ram was driven with much more confidence.

Notice the Ram carries it's spare through the test and the Raptor does not. Plus theirs other differences to keep in mind. Still, it's obvious which vehicle does better where. Theirs so many things to consider, in regards to after market parts, before you could truly go head to head with these and many others.
The Ford was made for more everyday driving and the Ram was more customized. Don't get me wrong, I'd take either in a flash - I'd want the Raptor, if I had to choose.
Dodge won't back their own product when you take it to the dealership to get looked at and even when you are able to finally get them to seriously look at the truck its always a bunch of clowns that don't know what their doing and misdiagnose issues for a living. Those things break more than any truck ever made ON THE ROAD...I figure after off road in one of these that you are pretty much going to have to spend 3 weeks in the shop afterwards based on my past experience with Chrysler. Ford is making a truck to get groceries and Ram makes a truck to work in. Trucks are made to work, not haul groceries!
184,000? That is fucking ridiculous. In America I can get a Shelby Mustang for about 65,000. I do think comparing a Mustang and pretty much any European sports car is stupid though because they are in different categories. The Mustang is a muscle car. A more fair comparison would be a corvette (which i think sucks) and a BMW or Merc. But I have to say, I love my gas guzzling, giant Nissan Titan Pro4x.
Your link isn't working, but I presume you mean the MotorTrend video where they have to race EIGHT TIMES before on the NINTH the Mustang edged it by ZERO POINT ONE second. I wouldn't call that a fair and square loss. With EIGHT RACES saying they are dead equal I'd put the ninth one down to driver error, wouldn't you? And as Carlos said the GT has more torque so it should have won all those 8 times as well.
I think it is very important to always be respectfull and curtious, but to respond i was talking about the 'normal' Mustang GT not the Shebly version.The GT500 costs 184000 Dollars and about 12000 a year in road taxes. But in terms of performance I do not only take into account power and torque but handling as well. Weight distribution in the Shelby is horrible. Boss 302 version is far superior in that respect. We just have different views of performance and that is perfectly alright, isn't it

That is not entirely true. A Ford mustang GT in my country ( the Netherlands) costs about 90,000 dollars (mainly due to taxes, we have to pay 50% of the cars purchase value extra if it is not fuel efficient) with an added road tax of 6000 dollars per year(this is also due to fuel inefficiency). I can buy a European car with the same performance for 40k. I suspect for you in the US it would be completely the opposite situation.
My friend you cannot compare european and american markets. These cars were made for the american market. They are great cars for their purpose. In Europe we preffer handling to raw power as you pointed out by bringing up the M3. These truck above are great for going of road. But in Europe they would be terrible in the cities just by their size alone. I would not be able to park such a truck anywhere in my city. But dont compare apples with oranges.

ur m3 414 hp and 295 ft lbs of torque weighs 3704 to 4506, mustang gt 5.0 420 hp and 390 ft lbs of torque weight is only at 3750 to 3800 pounds. lets looks at power to weight ratio bmw at best is 8.9 lbs per horse power. ford is also at 8.9. however ford gets ur bmw off the line cause of its torque. from a 60 roll they r equally as fast. gear ratios r almost identical too. warranty is alot different. bms 4 years 50,000 miles warranty that sucks.

ram boxes take up too much space but they are pretty cool however. my wifes fully loaded 07 slt 4x4 envoy kinda spoiled me so its hard to go back to a basic model. in my opinion you get more bang for your buck with a hemi ram and a challenger just screams man's car and to me has the most appeal. just waiting on the weather to get nicer out. im in Ky and our weather tends to be a bit wacky this time of year. its supposed to be in the mid.60's on saturday and 2 days ago it was 30 deg.& 5 in. snow
Nice choices!!! I love that truck! Leather dash, leather everything. I average around 21 mpg on the highway, lacks at around 13 in town tho. It has the uconnect touch screen, chrome clads, love that it came with a built in trilaer break controller, spray in bed liner, protective undercoat. Its got just about every feature in it except the ram boxes. I personally wouldnt want the ram boxes tho, I use every square inch of bed space a lot. Its a great truck!!!

I agree. Last truck I bought was in 2011. I didnt want to spend a ton since I had an 09 chevy sitting in the garage. I went looking for a used truck from all 3 and the used trucks were the same price of new. ALl I wanted was a truck with less than 50k and 4x4. I ended up buying a new ram 1500 hemi 4x4 sport for $27k. All of their used rams were $24k+ and the $24k ones were 4x4. I was amazed at how crappy the used truck market was. Might as well get what you want!!!
i know, i live in ky i knew u were joking. new v/s used has its pros and cons but ive been looking at challengers and rams and for what dealers want for a used one i can have a new one ordered with that i want for very close to the same price. i found a 2010 challenger r/t plus with auto and a sunroof with 10k miles for $29,100 and i can order an r/t plus with what i want for 30-32k. i know other costs factor in but thats what i was saying earlier with new v/s used, well on these anyway.
Theres a few things that balance out when buying new vs used. Interest rates are lower, but insurance rates are higher and depending on vehicle and age of driver it can be worth buying a vehicle a few years old. Taxes are much much higher on a new vehicle, but you also have a full warranty. I was joking about living by Omaha, the deal is real but I wouldnt look for making personal contacts on YT.

The dealership will actually give me $500, not him. Its funny cause He gets paid $1,000 for every new car sold and 10% of the sale on used cars, but they are suppose to push the new cars. It doesnt cost $60k to set up a ram like this. My ram is a 4x4 hemi sport that I bought new in 2011. The ram runner kits go from $6,000-$10,000 depending on everything you do. That would put the total cost of my truck from $33,000-$37,000 with a kit. Still way less than the raptor, which start at $44,000. Which also means your not getting sh!t for options at $44k. I dont know where you got $60k from but you are way off the mark on that number!!!
Sorry, but I am not seeing where the money is on those trucks. Buy a base half-ton put on a dessert-runner kit, tires, and mod the engine to suit if you even want too and should you have the equal of both of those truck for much less money. Now if you want a real off road truck get a slight used 3/4 ton truck and follow the same formula. You be making money pulling from the owners of the two trucks by pulling them out of dirt when they get stuck.
$20,479 US for the whole nine yards for the ram runner kit. plus the 20,000+ for the truck plus the labor of the people putting it together for you. so the raptor is still cheaper choice, its better ON the road where you are 90% of the time and you can buy the upgraded ford raptor with stiffer shocks and springs and a new front bumper witch gives it more clearance and still have it be a better on the road handling truck
Look at it this way, To get a Ram Runner, you have to first buy a 1500... about $25,000 for a middle of the market one. After that, you spend about $50,000 once you send it off to mopar and get all your insurance settled... After all of that and about 3 months of waiting, you could have enjoyed your time in your nice new off the dealership Ford Raptor or Velociraptor of you want to buy the upgraded version (which they didn't).. After this is all said and done, you wasted time with the dodge...
People honestly don't understand the point of these trucks and just how poorly made the Ram Runner is. The Ford Raptor is a revamped truck thats COMPLETELY modified to withstand offroading. For people who believe that the Ram Runner is in anyway a good offroading vehicle, think again. All the truck is, is a lifted ram 1500 with 3 Mopar parts installed on it(Hood, Springs, number). Don't get me wrong the Ram Runner is a gorgeous looking truck but doesn't look to nice off road.
