Love this film. The year I was born. It must have been a cool spring in 58. Fort Dobbs was released on April 18, 1958, unless it was still in the theaters in the fall.

I love seeing old footage of Tulsa. I have a few home videos on film that my grandpa took in Tulsa in the 50s and 60s, if I get them transferred to dvd and find anything worthwhile, I'll let you have it.

Just found your RU-vid Channel and glad I ran into it! From Tulsa and grew up no more than 8 minutes drive from downtown - so awesome seeing how it used to be compared to now. Thanks again, just subscribed 😊

Jack, would you have footage just north of downtown. A community neighborhood near Standpipe Hill? "Stairs leading to Nowhere". That would be a gem! Thank you for your work.

Saw the weather tower which was the tallest building in the downtown area. The top of the tower illuminated different colors. I'm colorblind so I couldn't tell you what the meant, only that it was a forecast.

That was the National Bank of Tulsa building (NBT) at 4th and Boston. It's still there but has different name and no weather lights on top. But does have some cool LED lighting now

@ 0: 34 is the Alvin Hotel, I stayed there around 1970. I could tell it was a great hotel in its day, but was a bit shabby by 1970.

Great film! Really excited to see the Mandarin Cafe in the background early on. That's a site I've long wanted to find a color photo of.

I believe this was older than the 1960's. I never saw a car newer than 1957 with possibly a couple of '58s.

At :04. The movie Fort Dobbs was released in 58 according to IMDB. I'm guessing that was the Rialto theater next to Kress store.

In the last few seconds we see cars coming toward us on a one-way street, with one tall building in the background. Which street and which tall building? Sophian Plaza maybe?

I think the scene is looking north on Main Street around 14th, so camera is facing toward downtown. I could be wrong though
