I’m a 65 year old disabled vet who walks with a cane, but this song got me up and dancing. I was in high school when it came out, and it was playing everywhere - parties, radio, juke boxes. Thanks for reminding me of those days, when I was was younger and stronger and life’s possibilities seemed endless. The music still moves me, just a little slower. But, moving slower is better than not moving at all. Thanks, again.

We have evolved as a nation, but some people seem to want to put us back there. I don’t understand it. All I’ve seen in my lifetime from 1968 to now is progress, especially among black people, but really all people. No draft. Crime rate down precipitously. Black people can be doctors, lawyers, engineers, presidents, instead of maids and landscapers. The only problem in my mind is social media and the 24/7 news cycle making it seem worse than ever.

I saw Pete Rivera (lead singer/drummer) perform several times with the Classic Rock All-Stars in the 90s. Really nice fella and supremely talented too! This is my fave Rare Earth song.
I love your reaction AND I googled them.. says Rare Earth is an American soul band affiliated with Motown's Rare Earth record label, which overcame racial profiling to prosper in the early 1970s decade. Although not the first white band signed to Motown, Rare Earth was the first big hit making act signed by Motown that consisted only of white members. I grew up in this era.. just learned the background because of you, bless you Jamel..you are so way cool.
Mid 70's, my friend had an extra ticket to a concert, so I agreed to go. Our ride showed up, a genuine hippie van with the entire inside lined with shag carpeting, bean bags chairs for seats in the back. Rode 40 miles trying to sit in those stupid bean bags to McCormic Place, Arie Crown Theater in Chicago, parked in the underground parking. We sat in the 1st row in the balcony, lights went down, curtain went up, it was Rare Earth. Looked down below, glows of joints all over the place, beer can tabs poping, ushers running around with flashlights trying to catch people, it was hilarious. The group I was with had their share of smoke and drink, and when we left, no one could remember where the van was parked. Wandered around for 45 min before we found it. Rode back home trying to sit/lay in those stupid bean bag chairs. Great concert.
I've seen David Clayton Thomas perform a few times and we've been in the same jazz clubs together in the audience! He is a respected jazz man now. What a voice. His current band is really brilliant and a lot of fun.

It was some very crazy times, but I feel so blessed to have been a teenager when this great music was blowing up the radio stations and MY record player! Yes, Jamel , the Temptations originally sung Get Ready. Rare Earth is a Motown Label. They did a cover of this song , and did a really good job on it . I love rare earth.
The joy that exudes from his smile is the best way to describe how us in the original time frame felt the first time we heard these great sounds! And you're right- he makes me happy & I'm a 60+ year old white woman! I love it! All I can do is chair dance now but I used to dance til I dropped & it didn't matter if I was alone or with a crowd or who I was dancing with (kept me in shape too!)!

I loved growing up back then, radio stations played everything, folk, rock, blues, soul, funk, r & b and some country. I was exposed to it all and love it all! Before I lost my music collection in a fire people often commented on what a wide range of music I had. Everything from Aerosmith to Barry White.
they played this on ALL. THE. STATIONS. back when there were black radio stations and white radio stations, this was played EVERY. WHERE. R&B stations, rock stations, AM, FM, wedding receptions, dance clubs, private parties, everywhere. This was just a straight up HIT all over the got damn place
