To my dearest brother. Oh he who heads Southward to a place more barbaric than hell. A place where even the devil himself soils his undergarments at the mere thought. God walks with you through the Hatch of Parris Island Brother Royku, and forever and always...
P.S. **Keep your hands out your pockets, Don't fall asleep on fire-watch, Don't touch your fucking face, DON'T LOOK AT YOUR D.I.'S and clean your pistol grip.**

It definitely gives you chills, makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and a true feeling of pride doesn’t it. It is hard to believe how much Boot Camp and the Corp has changed over the years. Now they are once again reducing the size of our beloved Corp. I even read in one news item that the Sec of Defense wanted to eliminate the Corp completely. That would be a very sad day for America! SEMPER Fi

Your husband went in one year before the infamous Tet Offensive, a real nightmare for all branches and where Marines shined despite their dificulties. I salute you for what all you went through while he was absent. The Corps has gone straight downhill after Nam. I would not share the same foxhole with a modern Marine any day of the week. Would someone tell the guardsman that he cannot JOIN THE SEALS. He must leave the national guard. Join the NAVY and then be accepted into buds. I address this later in the comments section. Another flake. No wonder don Shipley has so many headaches. Semper Fi .1963.

Brothers the powers that be are afraid to send old leather necks back into combat. It would be scorched earth. The older I get the less I seem to be able to tolerate stupid shit. We have lived our lives and it is much better to go out on your feet side by side with our fellow Marines then warm in your bed. I pray for peace but keep my powder dry.

I was drafted into the Marine Corps in December 1969. Fortunately, I never heard anything about Marine Corps boot camp. After I was drafted at AFEES in Chicago, I flew to San Diego. The next day they shoved an enlistment in front of me for two years and said the Marines do not draft. I made it through just like everyone else. I am very proud of becoming a Marine. I enlisted in the Marines when they still had the draft. One of my buddies at my permanent duty station was drafted. When the draftees in his group were gathered together selections were made as to which draftees went into the Marines by lining them up and every tenth one was to be sent to the Marines. He did a quick count and saw he was going to be selected so he quickly switched places with the guy next to him. When it came for the Marine draftees to step forward one of the guys in charge looked at the guy my buddy switched with and said, "You look too small to go into the Marines," and then he selected my buddy instead to replace him. Boy was he pissed.
