The dead rat shop is real! It is called Julien Arouze and Co., and the rat bodies are almost a century old at this point, having been first displayed there in 1925. They are considered "an emblem of the store," which is--as you might expect--a pest control shop in Paris.

A small but important detail. When Coulette was teaching Linguini the ropes, she mentions, “you think it’s like mommy cooking in the kitchen…” Later, it’s the Ratatouille that reminds Anton of his mother, cooking in the kitchen, which may imply something about Chefs lacking that certain quality that Remmy understood.
@Perid0tStar
@Perid0tStar 2 года назад
Its hard to tell since we only see a couple of scenes in Anton's flashback, but I've always been a little curious about whether the old lady's house the movie started in was his mothers house. Wouldn't it be something if he learned to cook in that same kitchen?

As a french girl, I'm glad you liked this movie. You misundurstood why Colette called ratatouille " a peasant dish ". In fact, ratatouille isn't considered as a gastronomic dish so normally it's not the typical dish you can eat in a restaurant like Gusteau's. Also, what Remy served to Ego isn't the real ratatouille but a " tian de légumes " (vegetables tian in english). The real one is what Ego's mother cooked. About the rat killer's product shop, I read it's inspired of a real shop the producers saw.

As the kiosk was located inside the electronics section, and as I had nothing whatsoever to do most of the time, I spent the majority of my shifts trying to ignore whatever family movie they were showing on all the display sets. The instant Ratatouille came out on home video, it went into the dvd player & onto those television sets. I must have seen this movie 200 times, no exaggeration, and I *never got stick of it* . Ratatouille is probably my favorite Pixar movie. It may not be as recognizable as some of their movies like Toy Story, Monsters Inc, or Finding Nemo. But it’s just so fun and creative, and it has a really great message to it. About how people with extraordinary talents can come from anywhere, and to follow your passions no matter how unlikely they may seem to the outside world. The film itself is truly a work of art and it’s hard to believe it was made less than 2 decades ago. It’s so sad to see Pixar loose their creativity in such a short amount of time.

I am so glad to hear you talk about your mom that way. I have three sons and cooking is often a family affair. I have a son that is know an assistant chef, he’s eaten really rich food but still loves when I make him dinner.

That scene when Ego tries the dish is gonna hurt when I'm older 🤣

I love it when Remi causes Linguini to kiss Colette on the lips 😘❤️. It turns out that Remi can not only cook but he can also play cupid 💘. Honestly I was hoping that would happen, thanks Remi.

What is usually missed is when chef Skinner's attorney or rep takes the hair sample from linguini"s fathers hat and its rodent hair. Like father ... like son. Both had a rat under their chefs hat.

Thats not what he said. He said the sample he gave him from Linguini came back as rodent hair. Cause the hair he grabbed also had remi's hair mixed in. Gusto's sample was just his hair. Re listen to that scene.

Rats don't even have a gag reflex, and in fact are incapable of vomiting

I'm sorry if it's too late but not sure if anyone noticed this. In the end scene you can see Ego actually put on some weight, as he states " if I don't love it I don't swallow " meaning before he was thin because he didn't enjoy the food but now thanks to Remy he is finally enjoying a meal

Patton Oswalt (Remy) is cool and hilarious. I love his stand up shows. As for this movie, I adore it. Disney/Pixar have a very good formula for most of their movies. My favorite being A Bug’s Life. That one can’t be touched.

My mom passed away and I miss her very much. She cooks really well and it's always delicious. I miss everything about her. I hope you appreciate your mother now, I'm 20 and I didn't truly appreciate her till after her life ended. Love. That's the biggest ingredients in food from your mom. Love.

Do y'all think they'd watch/react to the movie The Tale of Despereaux? T'is also animated rodent characters with some humans. It's a lovely film that I don't see many talking about.

40:14 I was terrified to be on camera. I went to school for animation. But I followed a few people on RU-vid and wanted to do what they do. I started my channel as a way to get over my fear of being on camera. Now I've been doing it for over 7 years. My channel is still not very big but I have fun doing it. I still have to psych myself up before I turn on the camera many times but once I do I just go and it works out.

This movie still amazes me how good the food looks. The whole animation of this movie is perfect ... I love the Paris vibe too.
