So Idk if this has been brought up before, but I never really paid attention to Ratchet's voice in past videos but, in this it sounded so familiar, so I looked it up. And Ratchet has the same VA as Johnny Test. For some reason I find that haunting.
The fact that they not only improved from the initial reveal trailer but did so without crunch is just further proof of how broken most AAA development is. Have the clear vision first, then put the hard work in to realize it, not the other way around
I like when Penny was talking about accessibility settings being useful for everyone. It reminds me of how speedrunners often use colourblind modes in games to make important information even more visually obvious. I speedrun into the breach and that game would be a lot harder to run without its colourblind mode.
Okay, but Ratchet thinking "Now where's that statue again?" while very specifically *not* looking for the statue is exactly how I deal with my to-do lists as well
When playing with my little cousin, for whom this was his first Ratchet and Clank game, we decided not to use it. Whenever he felt he died too often, he simply gave over the controller to me.
can i just say that i love ratchet's little fangs in this model. i know he had them in some of the other games but theyre very noticeable here and theyre adorable
I love Rift Apart so much. Rivit and [Redacted] are so great and fit perfectly into the series and the gameplay is top notch. The story could've been a little crazier, but it was still engaging enough and I hope they take everything and amp it up for the next Ratchet game.
I know it's a bit selfish but it made me really happy when penny noticed the silent donations because it reminds me that she has a community and even though it's a job we, the viewers, still mean so much to her. Anyway I promised at the beginning of the the whole RaC series I'd donate $10 every stream and I followed through and penny if you read this I wanna say how much I enjoy your content and can't wait to see the rest of this playthrough, thank you for being a funny lil gal
@@adhd-usb343 It's coming along well. I've written a couple of the key scenes (mainly the intro and the climax) and I've already got a rough idea of the plot Tachyon's still the main villain, but he shows up less (Slag replaces him in some levels, including the tutorial) and I've made him less shouty and more manipulative, and given him an actual plan instead of just "kill the Lombax". Also you can smash his screens and get a skill point for smashing all of them Also, Angela's in this rewrite, and so are a couple of other characters from the OG trilogy though they have less of a role than Angela does
@@vigilantsycamore8750 well it makes sense that Angela Cross would have a larger role in the story where ratchet fights the guy who basically left her an orphan
You're the only streamer I've seen so far to even notice the hard oil joke, thank you. Edit: I also REALLY appreciate how you can upgrade to the digital deluxe version from the standard version, and how the pre-order bonus isn't only for the people who pre-ordered. I knew Insomniac was the best from the first moment I put Ratchet & Clank in my dad's PS2. Edit 2: You have a fantastic Goon impression!
God i was waiting for this on twitch i remember, because you'd mentioned you would stream it, but i'd read a few things wrong so when the time i thought the stream would start came around i was like ".... oh whoops" and then i go to bad and 30 minutes later boom, it starts Just means i had a whole ass lovely vod to watch instead 58:41 I legitimately never realized that was the joke, Penny you just snapped my mind wide open granted, i also haven't watched that movie in like, a decade
This is probably the twentieth time I've watched Rift Apart cutscenes and I'm still gushing about how gorgeous and expressive the main characters are. Rivet is criminally cute. Which makes sense I guess, she is a rebel who defies the law. Also, color customization feels like such an obvious thing to have and it still surprised me.
nah, in the lore perspective, in my theory, during the time between the end of nexus and start of rift apart, they changed their job so they could be more friendly to families. like those companies rebranding themselves so they are simplified. its ratchet and clank logic alright
Just wanna say, I bought this game because of how much you enjoyed it. They really revived the series with the best game in said series, huh? (Though UYA will always have a special place in my heart.)
Finally finished watching (more like listening) to this Marathon and I loved it a lot!!! Tho, watching the previous games cutscenes, I'm even more sad that they opted for a more realistic style of animation than cartoonish like before (even using mocap for some characters). It's a me problem of course XD
What’s funny is I only have one trophy left to get before I platinum the game. I just haven’t gotten back to the game in a while and I know my save file is in challenge mode. The last trophy that I need to get which I feel is sad, but glad that I save this one for last, is to find all of the Craggierbears.
1:09:58 they should add something you can toggle like “guide dialogue / text on or off” - would allow more freedom for exploration and play whilst also keeping it optional for younger kids to play
It gets a bit better later, but in these early cutscenes, the momentum seems off, like when Ratchet falls off the ship before the weapons vender he looks very floaty, similar to the (as coined by Doug Walker) "lazy movement" in the Smurfs movie. Also, I'm not sure went on with the directing, but Ratchet sounds less-than-enthused.
I think me and penny are the same person. I just picked this game up, and i was thinking “this is like phineas and ferb the movie” and as soon as i turn this stream on like a play along, she immediately brings that up.
I always find motion capture on cartoon characters to be jarring and ruins the emersion but this game just does it so well that it doesn't feel weird like sonic games. I think it's because it still feels cartoony and over exaggerated even with the realistic movements
I spent two days on the couch platinum'ing this game, and my cynical ass looking for problems I have with it is delighted just seeing you enjoying every little thing the game is throwing at you. I gotta stop being so down. There's a lot I really like about this game, and is the best looking game of the franchise, but I don't know - Ratchet feels like he doesn't have much of a character in this game to me. Like his whole shtick is just being kinda sad and unsure of himself and his accomplishments, while Rivet is far more interesting. Meanwhile, Rivet has a few lines that are just a little too cutesy for me, feel off or have weird delivery, but - once again - maybe I'm just being cynical. I still looked forward to her segments more than any of Ratchet's. And I"m kinda sick of Dr. Nefarious. I wish they'd give him a rest, he doesn't have to always be the villain like the R&C universe Joker. He's a great character, but it seems like he's the only one they ever return to. I would love him coming back but minimal involvement, as a Hannibal Lecter-type. I would just love a new villain.
The only problem I have is how much they reused the Juggernaut and the Big Pirate bosses. I mean, it balances out based on the different locations and numbers of enemies, but I just got tired of seeing them after a while. However, I’ll let it slide this time because of how far they pushed the hardware and how good the gameplay was overall.
@@Birthday888 I for some reason thought he was in more, and while he wasn't a villain, he was also in All 4 One. Maybe that's why, I know he set that plot in motion even though he fought alongside Ratchet. And especially with R&C 2016 with how he wasn't in the game it was a reboot of and they just redid the ending to include him. Otherwise, he could've just been cut. My memory isn't great these days, I could've sworn I'd seen him more. Either way, he's the only reoccurring villain it seems. He also was referenced at the end of Quest For Booty, but then again that was leading to ACiT. It just seems like them playing it safe when they could've pushed it to much more interesting, unexplored places. Instead of just "What if Nefarious was competent?" Beck to my Joker comparison, that was the reason I stopped playing Arkham Origins. It was like, "Oh, Black Mask! I haven't seen him represented in any of these games! That's interesting!" Then in the cutscenes, they started alluding that Joker was dressing up as Black Mask. Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me chicken soup with rice. I did enjoy playing it though. And if they patch in a challenge mode trophy like they did for Spider-Man, who knows, maybe I'll replay it and take my time a little slower too. Drink it in. Or if they do more with the arena battles. I mainly tried to rush through it because I had the weekend off from work, but I'm back now and I'm sure game time is gonna become slimmer and slimmer.
@@ge789 I didn't mind that, honestly. These games have a lot of run and gun elements so I was happy just to have something to shoot my guns at. And I didn't really think the big pirate bosses got overused.
49:56 i didn't find this funny at all An it tells me you've got problems. You must have some serious sociological issues if you see something or someone begging and you laugh manically.
Yeah the helmet skin that is goggles bother me. Cause the helmet disapears when there is a cutscene and reapears when you have to play(which looks really cool). So when its just goggles the whole thing seems unnecessary to do it. And it looks wierd cause is very similar to what they have on already.
