Original Spinal was the generic baddie you farmed in the 2nd dungeon of a 90s RPG after you graduated from rats and slimes.

Arbiters retro is a legit 10/10 probably to most halo fans like me. I literally bought the game when I learned my favorite videogame character of all time was in a fighting game. Now I love KI to death lol

Max you should do a rate the Ultra Combo for each character in Killer Instinct. In their themes too to make it even better.

This game has one of the best soundtracks, god damn. That Mick Gordon version of the main theme is hype.

26:11 . Onryō. Hisako is an Onryo, as are Kayako and Sadako from The Grudge and The Ring. It's a traditional japanese ghost and and KI just hits all the right notes for a great Onryo design.

If a character from KI will appear on Smash Ultimate, it's Orchid or Fulgore.

I've never played this game, but I love Hisako for some reason. Such a cool character.

I think KI straight up has the coolest character designs in all of fighting games. There are lots of cool characters in other games, sure, but no other game has a Spinal. No other game has a Fulgore or a Hisako or a Riptor. They're just all so fucking cool, it's insane.

Aria's retro costume actually references classic sci-fi. Her body is Robocop, her face is cyberman, and her wings are gundum.

Classic Orchid is my favorite it screams 90s.

What I expected: a review of KI costumes. What I got: a fulgore appreciation video.

Here's the problem with retro Fulgore's design, he's bulky like KI1 but has features of KI2, if they just had fully done either ki1 or 2, instead of this mix of both that would have been better.

I loved Gargoyle in the Sega Genesis game - Disney's Gargoyles.

I’m not a fighting game fan but when he practically FLASHED the Halo Reach Elite Zelot skin for Arbiter I out loud said “Holy shit! That is spot on!” Just for that costume I’d give it a 10/10 and I am now in love with the people who modeled and detailed that. IT IS FUCKING GREAT Time stamp for the flash is 35:12

Retro Arbiter is seriously the armor he got from the Prophets in Halo 2 (with a Covenant Carbine strapped to his back). Pick that in the character select screen and Keith David says "What would you have your Arbiter do" (and if he doesn't, he really should).

What I love about Aganos' design is that you can see how he's not merelty falling apart, but has actually taken natural minerals to compensate for losing most of his old glory. YOu can see he once used to be pristine and magnificent, but he's taken like, rocks from somewhere and used it to replace his other arm that probably fell off somewhere. And how he compenates for the loss of grandeur by improvising. You see how that arm looks? Ouch. This thing is not only powerful and big, but intelligent and clever. The entire character design tells a story of Aganos' long quest given to him and his hunt for Kan'Ra. And he still kicks ass while he's this damn weakened by centuries of slow degerdation and the passage of time. Imagine if he was whole. He'd be unstoppable, and he's already a nigh-unbeatable juggernaut. Aganos is great. He's a fucking beast. Edit: Oh. Max said pretty much the same things I did. Well shit. :D

Kan-Ra has one of my favorite character voices of all time.

God I love this game. TJ is my guy, and I feel like what his design did best is tell a story. It really sells the "Former champion looking for redemption" vibe.

Retro Spinal looking like those skeletons near the bonfire you land at after escaping the prison in Dark Souls.

The attention to detail on Glacius’s gills and his transparency is pure eye candy.

Not gonna lie, I actually plan on cosplaying Sadira, Hisako, and Mira. I'm having trouble which version of Mira to do though. I chose Hisako's retro costume and Sadira's Rockabilly costume

I love how Spinal's old shield had an octopus on it then it got a redesign to Davy Jones' skull from PotC. Basically an octopus man.

KI1 Spinal is how your character looks when you start Monster Hunter for the first time. After he spent a couple years of grinding and gathering loot, he ends up looking like this. Easily one of the best new designs for a character in a fighting game ever.

Killer Instinct is Already 10/10 to me

I think Gargos' animations push his score up for me. How he has his arms crossed pretty much the whole time on his first health bar but when he's on his second he takes the fight a little more seriously and stops crossing his arms. A lot of personality. NRS tried something similar with Darkseid having his hands behind his back but most of the time it just looks weird and off-balance because they stick to it too much, even when it doesn't make sense.

Saberwolfs alternative costume made me think that the turtles decided to pull a prank on their master splinter by shaving his facial hair and dumping a bucket of blue paint on him

I love that Idle song of killer instinct. The best fighting game this gen.

I really like basic skeleton guys. If only because they can go from being terrifying to comical super quickly if even at all.

In my opinion this is one of the games with the best costumes and designs, from everyone to me even surpasses Darkstalkers that could easily be done by this studio but of course in the appropriate molds but every design in that game, shows me the "Killer Instinct".

I love how we all just mutually love this game enough for this to work. Unfortunately I was not that good at this game especially once it hit late season 2 into season 3 but man, it sure was amazing to watch and I couldn’t ever not be watching a KI tournament around when it came out. I love how Max made this so I can see more people enjoying KI outside of just me watching tournaments back to back. I love this Bring Back KI and I love how much support it’s getting and I’m not even the creator lmao

KI have such an amazing and personal characters that it's just simply great to watch how they look.

Season 3 Week Ofs were amazing Tusk, Mira, Gargos videos were super fun to watch back in 2016

LOVE the way you can customise chars with accessories etc. I'd love to see that in SF. Like just being able to choose Ryu's headband and glove colours even, simple but would be awesome. Like Ryu in ST had a dark blue ghee with yellow head band AND yellow gloves, but it SF5 that same costume doesn't have yellow gloves. That was my colour in ST and I wanted to use it in 5 but it looks shit without the yellow gloves. I also love the feature in Ultra SF 2 for the Switch where you can choose your own colours, like ANY colour, you get an RGB wheel so you can really nail in the colour you want and you can even change hair and skin colour to really make your char unique. I want that in SF6.
